I use Firefox on my work computer and have no pop ups. I also tried another computer with IE on it and had only one pop up. Does your browser allow you to block pop ups? Dave

Had a great time riding this weekend as the TRA group I belong to was invited to ride in the Cokeville, WY Pioneer Days Parade. We had a great ride up and back (about 320 miles) with me on the Venture and Jan on the Sportster (Rick, the seat helped a bunch), a fun time throwing candy to the kids that lined the parade route, and some tasty dutch oven food on Friday and Saturday. I even managed to take a few pictures of the event. On Saturday afternoon, while pulling out of the motel, I was passed by three 2nd Gen Ventures and a fourth bike (didn't see what it was) They were heading south on Hwy 30, anyone from here? I'm ready to do some more Wyo. riding in September at the Roundup. Hope everyone here will think about making this trip. Beartooth and Yellowstone are two of the great rides we'll be taking. Dave

utadventure replied to ArticusMedicus's topic in Watering Hole
Art - I wish there was something more I could do from here than keeping him in our prayers for a safe and speedy return to where he belongs. Dave -

Stripped head bolt "non venture"
utadventure replied to Eddie Fulmer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The mechanic that taught us about the Heli-Coil recommended that we use a screwdriver to break off the install tab. Then he said they take the air hose and point it at the edge of the hole and using short blast are able to clean out the hole. We also used an extendable magnetic pick up tool to grab most of the shavings (won't work if the block is aluminium). Dave -
Stripped head bolt "non venture"
utadventure replied to Eddie Fulmer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Eddie- Google Heli-Coil (I've seen them at Pep-Boys). My son had a valve cover that the threads were stripped out. We found the appropriate Heli-Coil size, rethreaded the hole and inserted the coil and it is holding the bolt in perfectly. Good luck on your repair. Dave -
Does anybody here have the Utopia back rest ?
utadventure replied to Hummingbird's topic in Watering Hole
Annie- I have the Utopia on my 1st Gen and have the quick release. Just lift the backrest straight up and it's out of the way. I would imagine they have the quick release for a 2nd Gen as well. Dave -
Ive been look through the 1st Gen manual to see if there is a shrader valve attached to the rear shock on my '88 VR. Thought I would throw the questions out here. Is there a rear shock shrader valve and if so where is it located? The class on my '88 doesn't work. I've installed Progressives in the front forks and would like to be able to add air manually until I get the CLASS working. Dave

If I remember correctly you're coming our way. We have a bed, hot meal, shower and laundry in SLC if you want or need. Tools and minimal expertise are a given. Prayers for your safe trip. Dave

That's one of those nuts that can be too loose or way overtightened. I varies depending on the day. Dave -

Off Road
utadventure replied to Dmnordin's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Doug- In addition to the tire pressure (I agree that it's unlikely that your ride changed the pressure), I would double check your axles and especially the bearings. Make sure you don't have any looseness there. Dave -
Looks very well cared for. I bet she'll love it!! Ride safe Dave

Go for a nice long ride today and store up some memories to help get you by. Good luck on the surgery and as soon as the Doc will give you a walking boot, go for another ride!! (most of the braking power comes from the handle grip anyway? We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers, keep us updated. Dave

Buell is a part of the Harley Davidson family (take from that what you will). I can tell you that we have had good luck with the '08 Sportster that my wife bought this year. They also have a "low" version of the Sportster in the current model year but that won't be in the budget she's got. Like all things, with proper care it will probably be a great ride! Dave

Throttle - Auto Close
utadventure replied to utadventure's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It's like having a thottle lock on there in addition to the cruise control. Like was said, it can make for some interesting driving in town... Dave -
Thanks guys- I went to order these and they were 6 days out from the warehouse and another 5 days from Fastcycleparts.com. I check out Starcycle-usa.com and they said they would work to beat anyone else's price shipped. I spoke with Chris and he is having the springs drop shipped to my house for a total of $72.95. He treated me well and I'll receive the spring better than a week earlier. I'll let everyone know if they don't perform on the delivery. Dave

Best price I've found is http://www.fastcycleparts.com at $66.00 plus $9.00 for shipping. Is there a better price (combined)? Has anyone dealt with this company? Their site says it ships in 6 days. Then another 5 days for UPS or whoever? Dave
