  1. And I thought we all had 7 wives and 50 plus kids (thankfully not!!) :rotf:
  2. I sent mine on the 23rd of January and got it back on the 10th of Feb. I'm pretty sure that mine took extra time because of the PO modifications and the hassle with FedEx. Dave
  3. I just wanted to express my appreciation for the excellent work Rick did on my seat. I got the seat back yesterday (FedEx made this more difficult than necessary). It looks and feel great even though the weather won't let me get it out and ride yet. **How is it you guys in PA can look at a groundhog on 2/2 and we start getting snow again in Utah?** I want everyone to know that Rick goes beyond just making a couple of changes to your seat and putting the cover back on. My seat had some challenges because of some previous damage by the PO and Rick took the time and added work to sure it was right. THANKS AGAIN!!! I'll let you know how great it is when the weather cooperates. Dave (with PMS)
  4. Pete- Beartooth Pass is an awesome ride. We rode it in July of '07 and fought rain going from Yellowstone to Red Lodge so it wasn't all that enjoyable but on the way back a few days later it was great. We stopped at the rest stop on the East side of the summit and from there you can see five points on the road leading up to the rest area because of the way the road switches back and forth. I haven't been on the Chief Joseph highway yet but plan on taking that ride in September while we're in Cody at the Roundup. I would be interested in your opinion and pics when you get back. Dave
  5. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pete & Hazel at this time. Best wishes for a fast and full recovery. Dave & Jan
  6. Welcome back! It's good to see you on the site again. I hope you can make it to Cody with us. It will be a great get away. Dave
  7. Everytime I think Spring is about to arrive (50+ yesterday), the weatherman pushes it back and orders more snow (for the next week or so). Like you, I live down a long driveway (100 yards of gravel) but the snow was almost all melted off and it was starting to dry out. But now...:bawling: Someone take a good long ride for me please!! Dave
  8. I take an old towel (covers the entire windshield) and wet it down, then wring it out so that it holds the water without running. I lay the wet towel over the windshield for about 5 min and then use the towel to gently rub off any remaining bug grime. I then use a second towel to wipe off any residual water and filth. Be careful to wipe in one direction and a circular motion can eventually leave swirls in/on the windshield. Finally I use pledge to do the final cleaning/protecting. The pledge will help water run off as well as reduce bugs ability to stick to the windshield the next go round. It also seems to help reduce the visual effects of any marks on the windshield. Dave
  9. Thanks for the tip. I've wanted to get a pair for the navigator. If anyone is already in the bidding pool, let me know. Dave
  10. Don- There are great people on this site with plenty of knowledge about your bike. I'm not sure where you are in No. Nevada but I have a carbtune here in SLC if you're to the east and there are some pretty sharp guys like Condor and Lone Eagle in No. Cal. There may be someone here that would have the expertise to redo your carbs via the mail with you removing and reinstalling. Dave
  11. My seat is on the way to Rick now as winter is the perfect time to make the upgrade. I'm glad yours turned out well (like everyone else's I've read about). Now you've got me excited about going for a ride. I guess I'll just have to wait until the snow and ice is gone from the driveway. Dave
  12. Try Flatout (member here), seattle power sports or mrcycles.com The other day, there was a thread that Yamaha was raising all of their prices. You might want to take that into consideration before you finalize your insurance claim as your estimate may have been done using the old prices. Dave
  13. I don't know how the boss or the wife would feel about it, but, pick me up on the way!! Dave:innocent-emoticon:
  14. If bike tires are consistent with car tires, then the first number is the width, the second number is the height reflected as a percentage of the width and the final number is the rim diameter. So - your 110/80-19 would be 110 wide with an 88 sidewall and fit a 19 inch rim. Tartan Terror should be able to correct this information if I'm wrong. Dave
  15. Vic- My son and I went to Billings the first week of July in 2007. We went through West Yellowstone (West Gate), through the Park (stopping at Old Faithful etc) and out through the NE gate. We fueled up in Cooke City, up over Beartooth Pass to Red Lodge and then on to Billings. We hit rain going over Beartooth Pass on the way and stopped at Top of the World for a little bit. We finally decided that riding in the rain was preferable to the mosquito attack we were under. We road Beartooth again on the way back, the weather was great and so was the scenery!! I'm excited to ride it again in September. Most riders I know, stay in West Yellowstone the night before (or in the park, there are camping spots if you are so inclined) and then you can take your time visiting the Park and still get into Billings the next evening. Dave
  16. The date code is molded right into the side wall of the tire. I may be comprised of some letters also but the codes themselves consist of 4 numeric digits XXXX. The first two are the week of the year (01-52) and the last 2 are the year of manufacture (00-99) Dave
  17. Tough tires!! At BikeBandit.com I found some Pirelli or Avon AV45's for the front and only Maxxis for the rear. Americanmototire.com has Avon and Continental for the front and also Maxxis for the rear. I might be concerned with how long they've been on the shelf. Best of luck!
  18. Don't know if they will work or not but a neighbor showed me that I could use cooking spray on the chute of my snow blower to prevent the snow from sticking and clogging it up. Works great. Maybe a coat of Pam will cause the snow to slide off the dish? Dave
  19. Watch out for that first step on the passenger side. Glad they were "ok" Dave
  20. Sorry you are burdened with no snow:stickpoke: I hope the surgery was successful so you can get back on the scoot soon!! Dave
  21. Thanks Bob - Good info to know!

  24. The bike is a 2003 Kawasaki 750 with 22K miles. I don't have a specific location yet. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=160310031681
  25. Jan's bike was wrecked last summer. I've found a bike on Ebay that we are interested in getting but would like to see if someone could look at it for me. I've emailed the seller with some questions and a request for an address. Anybody help me? Dave
