Our number 1 favorite movie for our family is Down Periscope. We laugh and laugh and laugh. Dave

I have the XXL on my '86 and the extra wide windshield does overlap the inner most part of the mirror but since day one one, I have never really noticed it unless someone asks about it. It has never been an issue for seeing what's behind you. After I wear this one out, I'm getting another one. Dave

This is utadventure's son and I own a '82 Honda Silverwing. It is a V-Twin tour bike so I'm sure that this bike is a little late to claim that title. =)

Fantastic pictures. We rode Beartooth Pass that same summer but the weather didn't cooperate very well. It rained while there so we stopped at the store at Top of the World hoping that the rain would pass over. Eventually we chose to ride in the rain rather than being sucked dry by the pterodactyl sized mosquitos. Fortunately it was clear for our return trip.

Dennis- Thanks for sharing the pics. It's amazing the beauty we have in our back yard here in Utah. You got to see some of the greatest scenery in So. Utah. Some of the small towns you may not remember are Escalante, Tropic and Boulder (amoungst others). And I sit here looking at snow out the office window, dreaming of summer rides once again. Thanks for the cabin fever! Dave

Whether you go just after the new year or next Christmas, I won't be able to attend but would like to chance to donate the purchase price of a bear. Gunboat, do you have paypal and the cost? Dave

Cindy- I was glad to see your post today as I had been thinking about your family. The wheels of justice move slowly sometime but they do move. At least you know that he will continue to be incarcerated for the time being and can work to enjoy your Christmas season. Plea agreements can be made right up to the time that the jury says GUILTY! With each step in the system as things go your way will make it more likely that he'll accept some sort of agreement. When the judge denies the motion to exclude his confession etc, it makes your case stronger and him more at risk. If your daughter goes to a deposition and is about to recount her story without falling apart, increases the possibility that she will never have to do so in a courtroom. Keep her strong. She can put this guy away and keep him from harming others. Our getaway is still available. Dave

I spoke with Ed (the Ebayer) and he bought the bike about 18 months ago out of California. He didn't say why it was vandalized but some of the plastic was damaged. I don't know much about the sound system on the second Gen bikes but they stole the sound system controller, speakers, both antenea. If the second Gen has an audio unit inside the fairing then only not all of the sound system was stolen. The bike has been and is still being stored outside in the weather. We just received about 5" of snow yesterday and he said that the cover had blown off. No wonder it needs a paint job. He's put about 10K miles on the bike and says there isn't a whine but doesn't know if the clutch basket has been replaced or not. I haven't seen the bike or heard it run. Dave

Warmth, what warmth? Our best high for the next week 30! with 16 being the lowest of the highs for this week. It makes me cold now but having water to drink and shower in next summer will make it all worth while. Dave:97:

If you're interested in this, let me know, I'll be glad to go look at it and ask any questions you might have. I can probably find a place to store it until next spring. Dave

I have a battery tender I use with my 1st Gen during the winter (it snows here and then is still cold the next day) Mine has a light on the converter you plug into the outlet that shows the color based on the battery condition. Red is charging, yellow an issue, and green is all charged. I agree check the battery the first time you hook it up to make sure all is well and then let it do the job. I always connect it to the bike and then plug it in the wall to help prevent any sparks or irratic connection that might decrease the life of the battery or the tender. Also, make sure to disconnect the tender before every starting the bike. Dave

Kevin the bike looks great with the new paint job. You and you son did a great job! BTW, what does it look like after it transforms? Dave

I have an '86 as well and have added the largest windshield Clearview makes (with a vent) and have loved it. Even bought one for my son's '81 Silverwing, which he loves. There are other companies out there, but John is great with his service and the price is very competative. Dave

Keithert paid 75% of the original retail for his Demo Bike. Using that same login - a $22,000 bike would be $16,500 or less. Using that yardstick, not a bad price. Dave

Asking for advice....
utadventure replied to Iowawegian's topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
My wife isn't big in to computers and she has used a program called Printmaster. Not very expensive and use is pretty straight forward. Dave -
Ed- A lot of the suggests will be based on what roads you are planning on riding on you way to and back from the Grand Canyon. Todd is absolutely right - get an annual pass to the National Parks!! Might I suggest that you join us in Cody (Sept. 14-17, 2009) for the Venture West V Rally? We'll be riding through Yellowstone as well as the Chief Joseph Highway and Beartooth Pass etc. This could easily be the the start of your trip or on the tail end. You can also give many of us in the west the opportunity to meet you and your wife and rub shoulders for a few days. Jan and I are staying in the cabins at http://www.codyponderosa.com Almost like a motel but much better prices. Most likely, going from Yellowstone to Grand Canyon (or vice versa) will take you along I-15 and through SLC. You also will be within a short distance ride (30 mile approx) of Zions National Park (near St. George, Utah). When you come through SLC we would love to visit or have you stay with us. Hope you can come join us. Ride Safe!! Dave

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I can honestly say I've never prayed for someone's backside, but, here you go. I could have happened at a worse time of the year. I'd say now is a good time to pull the seat and send it off to Rick the "Butt Butler" and have hime redo your seat. Dave
