  1. I need to give a great big shout out here to Rick and Peggy (in spite of the tell-tale and no doubt compromising photographs!), and give credit where credit is due! Talk about "good friends", they drove over from Augusta this morning in order to give me a ride to PastorPaul's so I could pick up the bike! That's no less than a 300-mile round trip, and without their incredible generosity today's visit would not have taken place. Toni laid out quite a feast for us: fork-tender pork chops, shrimp bathed in butter and garlic, deviled eggs, potato casserole, home-made bread, strawberry shortcake and apple pie! Boy oh boy, was it ever a great meal! It was another wonderful day in the world of VR.org, with special friends stepping up to help out and take care of each other. This place really is as good as it gets, for which I Thank You! one and all. TERRY
  2. 86er, Eck, and I did visit Paul and Toni on March 5th, on our way to Sleeperhawk's surprise birthday party in Columbia SC. Right now, of course, he's still in the hospital, so once he finally gets home we'll keep checking on his progress and set another time to go visit. Thanks for the suggestion, Randy! TERRY
  3. I've just spoken to Toni and it appears that yesterday's surgery was successful in that they might have eliminated all of the infection. Of course, they won't know this for sure until later today or tomorrow, after the test results come in. There is still the possibility that Paul will have to have another surgery tomorrow if there is any infection left. With luck, he might be home by the end of the week... I'll keep you posted! TERRY
  4. OK, folks, I want to be sure that everyone in any proximity (near or far!) to the greater Atlanta area (you know, that great big city that all roads lead to in the S.E. United States!) considers this an Open Invitation to attend this Special Event. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46466 The riding in this area of the country is absolutely stellar, so come on along, get your bike right, and go for a delightful ride in the North GA Mountains. There are accommodations available, either with Forum members in the area or at nearby motels. Make it your Spring Fling! Steve and I look forward to seeing you there! In the meantime, be sure to visit Steve at: www.wagnercustomproducts.com TERRY
  5. That's some seriously gutsy stunt-driving! TERRY
  6. Congratulations, Randy! Good for you for jumping quickly on that super-duper deal. If I ever get around to owning a 2nd Gen, that particular model would be the one I would look for! TERRY
  7. I've just spoken to Toni and she has provided this update: Paul has what appears to be a serious staph infection. The purpose of the surgery last night was to irrigate and clean the infected area. He has to go into surgery again on Monday to irrigate and clean again. At that point a determination could be made to put him into surgery again on Wednesday, either to irrigate and clean for a third time or to completely remove the previous repairs and start over. In any case, Paul has at least a week in the hospital and a rather difficult time ahead. To complicate matters, he has become allergic to the morphine. When he does, finally, get home, he will have to stay in a hospital bed hooked up to an intravenous antibiotic pump for an unspecified amount of time. Toni sends her appreciation for all the good friends here on the Forum and has requested that those of you who attend services ask your congregations to pray for Paul, as well. Keep praying, and stay tuned... TERRY
  8. For anyone in the North GA area, Moto 400 in Dawsonville will be having their annual Triumph Demo Rides next weekend. I personally love to test-ride bikes and the opportunities around here are frequent. This year, regrettably, there will obviously be no Buell rides at Two Wheels Only, but it won't be long before the KTM weekend comes up on the radar! http://www.moto400.com/ TERRY
  9. Yes, we're all nuts! 'Nuff said about that... Where in GA are you? TERRY
  10. Chip: I'm very glad to hear that you now have the bike fixed and ready to ride! Harry: Good on you for stepping up to help Chip out! TERRY
  11. Toni called a few minutes ago to let me know that Paul was out of surgery and resting as comfortably as possible. She has not yet seen the Doctor, so she does not have any details to provide. I'll update this thread tomorrow after I hear from her again. Toni asked me say "Thanks!" to everyone for your continued prayers and good thoughts, as it means a great deal to both of them. I say "Thank You!" as well... TERRY
  12. Monday evening I received a call from PastorPaul. He had just arrived home from the hospital following surgery the previous Tuesday, which I had reported earlier. He sounded pretty good, all in all, which was encouraging. He had hoped to be home last Friday, but there had been a few complications to cause the delay. About half an hour ago I got a call from Toni to let me know that Paul was being rushed into surgery tonight due to what appears to be a fairly serious infection that has resulted from the surgery. So, I ask, yet again, for your thoughts and prayers for our good friend Paul in his time of need... Thank You! TERRY
  13. How delightful to hear your great news, Brad! Congratulations! to you and Lonna and Thanks! to all those that have helped you through this difficult time. TERRY
  14. Obtaining your own Credit Report directly from any or all of the 3 bureaus will not lower your score. It will get lower (temporarily), however, if you obtain a report from any third-party vendor. Also, you should know that your current creditors will, from time to time, access your credit report; that also will not lower your score. Any search initiated by you to obtain new credit will lower your score. Keep in mind that when you shop for a mortgage or a car loan you are only "hit" once if you do all your looking around within a two-week period. TERRY
  15. I do hope you are personally OK, Chip! Let me know if I can be helpful in any way... TERRY
  16. The Credit Score you indicated is not at all a bad score, it's just not a great score. There is likely some negative reporting (for instance: a 30-day late payment on some account, a collection, possibly medical, that you don't even know about, etc.) on your credit history that puts you in that category. If you don't know what your Report looks like, I encourage you to obtain copies for review. You should keep in mind that there are different "grades" of credit reports. The free ones you get from the Credit Bureaus do not typically have scores, but you can still see what's right and wrong with the report. Keep in mind here that different credit items might be reported to different bureaus, so you will need to obtain a copy from all three to get the big picture. A mortgage lender pulls a credit report (a "tri-merged" report, meaning that the information from all three agencies is on a single report) at a different scrutiny level (the highest) than say an auto dealer, so you might also find that your scores vary, depending on who pulled the report. Here's the info you need: EFX - Equifax Information Services P.O.B. 740241 Atlanta GA 30374 800-685-1111 XPN - Experian P.O.B. 2002 Allen TX 75013 888-397-3742 TUC - Trans Union P.O.B. 34012 Fullerton CA 92834 800-916-8800 In this recent economic turmoil the perception of scores has changed somewhat. Scores above 660 were once considered very good, now you have to be above 720 to fall into that category. As a personal courtesy to Forum members, if I can be helpful to anyone regarding this issue you are welcome to send me a PM or call (770-736-8350) and I will do my best to help you sort it out (professionally and confidentially, of course!). TERRY
  17. Here's hoping for a correct re-set this time around and a full and speedy recovery to go with it... TERRY
  18. Getting carbs tuned is pretty much standard operating procedure in the parking lot at Col. Poole's right after lunch, Chip! I hope you can make it to the M&E this Saturday... TERRY
  19. There are untold scores of arrogant people in the world. There are also untold scores of idiots in the world. My only advice is to encourage you to pick your friends, associates and riding buddies very, very wisely... TERRY
  20. Here's wishing you the all the best for smooth sailing through the surgery followed by a speedy and full recovery... TERRY
  21. PM sent... TERRY
  22. Now that's an idea I really like! TERRY
  23. Nice job, Harry! That looks great!!! TERRY
  24. I just had the most pleasant surprise... I called to talk with Toni to see how Paul was doing, and Paul answered the phone! I did not expect that, at all! We had a great conversation and spoke for about ten minutes. He sounds very good and states that he is recovering well. I wanted to check in to make sure he would be up for the visit we have planned this Saturday (http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45585) and he informs me that he is really looking forward to having us over. So, that's an update on Paul's status, and he and I both hope you can find a way to join the visit on the 27th. TERRY
  25. You had it right to begin with... Hopefully you got to take that ride! TERRY
