  1. For anyone that might be interested, there is a 1984 engine available for $199 on eBay. It's only too bad that the shipping costs almost as much as the motor! I have purchased several items from this Seller and he has been great to work with. Highly recommended! http://tinyurl.com/XVZ1200-84-engine Terry
  2. I've actually had a very good experience with this company. When I requested a replacement part they sent me a whole new fixture, at no cost and right away. When I talked with them on the phone I was informed that the products they sell in WalMart are named and priced differently than elsewhere. TERRY
  3. It sounds like you are indicating that the phillips-head slots are trashed. Try this: first, secure the handlebars with straps to the frame of the bike so they cannot move; front tire should be straight-ahead then, using a hammer, strongly tap a good-quality (high-tensile) phillips-head screwdriver vertically into the screw; this will help re-define the slots then, spray around the screw with some Blaster, CRC, or WD-40; let sit for a few minutes then, drive a pin-punch, at a right angle, into the upper outside edge of the damaged screw slot, in a counter-clockwise direction Most of the time, the screw will loosen and you will not have to drill it out; you can just replace the screws. In lieu of replacing the reservoir, you could just check the fluid level when you do periodic maintenance, like an oil change. Thanks to Muffinman for showing me this technique during his recent visit, which proved to be much less work and difficulty than drilling out the screws! TERRY
  4. Too late, Ruffy! But I am only too happy to share my recipe for: Stuffed Camel Ingredients: 1 medium camel 4 lambs 20 roasted chickens 150 boiled eggs 40 kilos tomatoes spices and seasonings Directions: Stuff eggs into tomatoes. Stuff tomatoes into chickens. Stuff chickens into lambs. Stuff lambs into camel. Roast until tender; spice and season to taste. Serves 150 normal people; but, alas, only 100 VentureRiders. Enjoy! Recipe courtesy of Khoury Fakhir, the elder and surely more handsome Habib brother
  5. I enjoyed one myself last night with Janis (my better two-thirds) and the Muffins. It was a very smooth and tasty cigar, indeed! It went perfectly with our "Rita's" and all the tall tales... TERRY
  6. Good stuff, Harry! Congratulations to your entire family, and special kudos to Josh for all of the hard work and commitment that has gone into his "development"... TERRY
  7. I have a Eureka 4-person Timberline tent that I have used for over 30 years now. It's easy to set up, is lightweight, packs small, and has always kept me dry. Just another option to consider... TERRY
  8. Tony, I am so sorry that your property has been vandalized and defaced. Perhaps we can get a group of Forum friends together to pitch in on a Saturday. Let me know if that would be helpful and we'll start making plans... TERRY

Janis and I send our condolences, Jeff. We hope you are doing well and wish you the very best as you move forward... TERRY
  10. I consider padded shorts to be yet another important piece of motorcycle riding gear. On all-day rides or long trips they can make a considerable difference in your comfort level. TERRY
  11. ... are you looking at a 2-cylinder or 4-cylinder machine? Please advise, and then let the answers roll in... TERRY
  12. I really liked Paul's Utopia backrest, as well! I've had his bike for the last month-and-a-half or more and he just got it back from me Saturday afternoon, after getting his Doctor's OK to ride again, which he wasted no time doing on Sunday! It's really great to see him recovering so well from his recent surgeries. Welcome back to the wonderful world of riding, Paul! TERRY
  13. Hooray! That's great news and I'm glad to hear you've finally gotten some resolution on the sale. Have a safe trip and don't be a stranger. You're always welcome back this way again, so come on over any 'ole time... TERRY
  14. I'm terribly sorry to hear of your mishap, Dave, and am very glad to find out you are OK! Let me know if I can do anything to help you out... TERRY
  15. Just buy yourself a smaller size and double-up for a quarter! TERRY
  16. OK, DQ fans! This week only: buy a Blizzard and get another one for a quarter!http://email.secureserver.net/view_print_multi.php?uidArray=170580%7CINBOX&aEmlPart=0http://email.secureserver.net/view_print_multi.php?uidArray=170580%7CINBOX&aEmlPart=0
  17. Thanks for posting this, Steve! This is a great salad and one can easily modify/add ingredients to suit their personal taste preferences. TERRY
  18. No argument, at all! These guys do a great job at a great price, which is why so many of us in this area give them our business! We are in agreement here, Squidley, that it really is a one-and-a-half to two hour job and he'll pay a premium for bringing his own tires in. Terry
  19. Here in the Atlanta area we are fortunate to have a shop that will do a total install of tires you bring to them (including grease on the splines) for $100; only $75, I think, if you buy the tires from them. Two Brothers in Lawrenceville GA. Always good and reliable work from two really good guys. At current shop rates your Dealer is charging you for about 3 hours labor, which is way longer than it ought to take. On the other hand, if you have no other installment options, you don't likely have a choice. I encourage you to ask them what their price would be if you purchased the tires from them, which will help you decide what to do next time around. TERRY
  20. I had a lengthy chat with our good friend Eck on Monday evening. He has not been on the Forum recently because he and Konnie are still in the process of moving and getting things like the phone and cable hooked up. Everything seems to be going well with the job and their new town. I just thought I would let everyone know he is doing well, is glad to be back at work, and that we should be able to welcome him back any day now... TERRY
  21. Thanks, Bobbie, for doing your usual great job of taking pictures and capturing so many VR.org moments and memories! TERRY
  22. BUMP In case this one slipped by you... This Saturday, at Steve Wagner's place in Cleveland GA. Come on out to learn, to fix, to visit, or whatever other motive you might have in mind! See you there... TERRY
  23. Heck, Dave, if you're going to Maintenance Day you might as well leave from there! It will save you about 200 miles, 4 hours and the gas that goes with it! Just a thought... TERRY
  24. I always look here first: http://www.newenough.com/street/closeouts/bargain_basement TERRY
  25. The pictures are real, Randy! Now if only I had been able to take one of Rick's mischievous grin while Peggy was snapping away... It certainly deserves to be mentioned here that Margaret has offered to go to Augusta to spend a couple of days to help Toni out. That epitomizes being a good friend! Sure thing, Harry! Can you set me up with a "loaner" from your personal stable? Of course, you realize, Skid, that my '83 is the original and definitive "Midnight" Venture... I do, in fact, have a bug, Lewis: if it's got two wheels and a motor, I am more than happy to take it out for a wee bit of a spin! LOL... Yikes! 2nd Gen. Car Tire. Oh, my! The things we do to help our friends... TERRY
