A response to everyone and anyone with a mortgage: To claim or lead you to believe that there is "no cost" is a misrepresentation and a fallacy. There are always Closing Costs in a mortgage transaction, it is just a matter of how YOU are going to pay them. In fact, there are always four expenses, which can be explained thusly: Lender Fees are any and all fees paid to the Lender for Origination, Underwriting, Processing, and actual expense of the interest rate. Third-Party Fees are any and all expenses paid to the other vendors that provide services on your behalf, such as Appraisal, Title, Closing, etc. Pre-Paid Interest and Escrow: pre-paid interest is just the daily expense of interest from the date your loan funds through the end of that month; the escrow account, if you are going to have one, is set up so the lender can pay your tax and insurance bills when they are next due (I don't personally consider the escrow set-up a Closing Cost, since you are going to pay taxes and insurance anyway). Government Taxes & Fees: counties and states charge either a mortgage tax or a deed tax (always on a purchase, possibly on a refinance), also there are usually two different recording fees, which are clerical expenses at the county courthouse to manage and handle your soon-to-be-public documentation. I agree that it can be set up in such a manner that there is no apparent or up-front expense to you, but you would always be getting/accepting an above-market rate, meaning that you will pay more monthly over the life of the loan. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just not been properly explained to you. Most lenders dangle a carrot in front of your face and lead you to believe that they are offering you the best deal available. Unless the lender shows you all of your options and explains the math, you would not know what is best to do, in your particular situation. As a personal courtesy to all on this Forum, I will be glad to review any offers you receive, help you understand the math (keep in mind that a mortgage is about money and money is about math), and actually show you all of your options. I will also tell you how to "shop and compare" one lender's offer versus another. That way you can comfortably be assured that you are actually doing something that really is in your own personal best interest. Yes, I am and have been in the mortgage business for almost 20 years, but this is not a solicitation. I am, thankfully, very busy, but I will always be glad to share my knowledge with my Family and Friends. Perhaps a few of you that have spoken with me previously will chime in and let others know that I am very straight-forward about this subject. Call me at 770-736-8350 or click on the link below and fill out the form (the info comes to me only and is not shared or sold) and I will be glad to be helpful...

Car collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world are already descending on Madison GA for the once-in-a-lifetime auction to be held at the MicroCar Museum. Each and every car will be sold to the highest bidder, as the owner has decided to liquidate what is considered to be the greatest and most important collection ever of these fascinating vehicles. A number of us have visited this incredible exhibit on several Meet & Eats over the years. This was one of my favorite collections and I always felt like a kid in a candy store. The design and utility of these cars always mesmerized me. I am so appreciative that I had the good fortune to visit a number of times, especially with so many good friends from this site, but am saddened that I will never be able to do so again. http://microcarmuseum.com/

We all know that the price of Seafoam has gone through the roof in the last couple of years. It's on sale at NAPA for $6.79, if you happen to have one near-by and could use a can or two. http://tinyurl.com/Napa-seafoam

Easily the best comedy on TV! All great characters and incredibly clever dialogue, that so far has not gotten stale or worn out. I also consider "3rd Rock From the Sun" to be one of the best all-time TV comedies. Funny stuff!

I have always refused to be on a contract, as it never made sense that the "discount" you got for a phone was soon re-spent paying for service. When I could no longer reduce my monthly bill with Sprint I switched over to Virgin Mobile (2 years ago) and have been more than pleased with the service and options. Pay-as-you-go is now typically less expensive than being on a contract.

Does not want me to wear any other patch while on a chapter ride

Have you asked yet whether you are required to wear boxers or briefs? That's where I would start... -
For those of you that enjoy robust coffee at home but refuse to pay a premium, try Cafe Bustelo in the vacuum pack. It's a dark roast coffee and the espresso grind allows you to get more flavor with less coffee.

Your question is the equivalent of: if you like apples can you also like oranges? The answer is: of course! Aside from all of the back-and-forth banter everyone knows that the 1st and 2nd Generation bikes are two completely different animals. One is a sport/touring bike and the other is a cruiser/touring bike. Each one sits, rides, and handles very differently from the other. Accordingly, one is not, and cannot be, better than the other, for any reason. You will no doubt hear opinions to the contrary, but you will not likely be provided with facts to substantiate those opinions. They are both phenomenal, in their own right, and I see no problem or issue with owning at least one of each...

I am a huge fan of the Pirelli MT66, but they do not seem to be adequate for a bike as heavy as a Venture or a Road Star. They are fabulous on a V-Star, but you will not likely get very good mileage on any bike over 600 lbs.

I love the look and think you also got the very best color! Very, very nice...

It's one thing to ask a question, especially from a curious/concerned perspective, but that is NOT what happened here. The thread was started with presumptions, proclamations and statements rather than bona fide questions about the inner workings of the Forum and the people that choose to gather here. A more appropriate approach, for instance, might have been to ask for feedback from Members as to their evaluation of the site and the value they derive from it, given the price paid. That would have been respectful and considerate. Instead, we got a math lesson on the potential wealth pool and a proclamation that the time, effort and energy spent here could easily be defined as a "hobby". Your own comments are well-considered and thoughtful. You did not use stick to swat at the hornet's nest...

It doesn't matter how many ways you try to look at this or how tangential you choose to get. The simple matter here is that the the LEO abused his position, compromised the rights of an individual, and inappropriately confiscated personal property. Separately and/or collectively, that is behavior that can not and should not be condoned or tolerated, from any one, at any time.

Sharing your experience is one thing, making an alarming proclamation is another. The title of your thread is "Don't Buy..." Interestingly, you do not seem to have provided any reason why they would not honor the price match. In your opening salvo you state: I called M-S.com to get my price match guarantee this morning and they refused..... In a subsequent post you stated: When I tried to take them up on their offer.....no dice. My question to you is this: why did they say one thing and then do another, as you put it? Were you given a reason? More detail rather than more ranting is what this Forum is all about...

I can't wait to test ride one! Highly inventive and incredibly ingenious...

Thanks for the kudos, Barend! Organizing and leading a ride inherently carries with it a level of concern and consideration for others that many do not understand, consider or even acknowledge. Regarding alcohol, I don't care what anyone does personally, as that is their business. However, once you drink, you can no longer ride with the group. If I'm with a group and anyone drinks, I bow out gracefully... I miss seeing you and hope you are doing well! Kindest Regards, Terry

The Pirellis are great tires for a much lighter bike, but not for the Venture. I had a set on my V-Star and could not have been more pleased with the handling and the mileage. As already stated, they wear out very quickly on heavier bikes, which is confirmed by my friends at Two Brothers Tires.

I'm terribly sorry to hear of the problem you've had, and hope it can be resolved. I have had several flawless purchase transactions with this Seller, who is a Top-Rated Seller. TERRY

I'll chime in with Shamue on this one. I've had a Timberline 4-person tent for over 30 years and it's still in great shape. It sets up fast and easy and is otherwise compact and very light to carry as it was originally designed for hikers. Habib the Hospitable

The message below was in my email this morning. This is terribly sad, as T.W.O. has always been the go-to place whenever riding in the North GA mountains. Incredibly congenial hosts, surprisingly good food, a wonderful place to sit and relax, and a great place to camp-over have always made this a great place to visit. We Regret to inform you that Two Wheels Only will cease operation on March 15th 2011. We'd like to thank all of you who supported this establishment and the local community for the last 29 years. It's been a fun ride! Unfortunately the inheritors of the property that Two Wheels Only sits on would not renew the ground lease, do a month to month rent until they sold their property, or sell us the separate parcel of land that the resort is on. We'll keep you updated on what's happening. Two Wheels Only Motorcycle Resort PO Box 69 Suches, GA 30572 http://www.twowheelsonly.com
