Yep thar are. Radio won't work without the cassette deck. BUT... There is a way: You need to install a jumper plug (was originally tied to the amplifier harness) short DIN connector with a single jumper wire. Do not have one here to look at but in my drawing it jumps from the 6 o'clock pin to the 3 o'clock pin. Not sure which way you are to be looking at the connector so could be 9o'clock. Hopefully someone will jump in with a picture of the plug! Sorry, I thought you were working on a First Gen. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58880

Snell Foundation tests helmets at a much more stringent level than DOT. Check here: http://www.smf.org/ The Snell Memorial Foundation maintains a listing of all helmets that have met the Snell Standards. Manufacturers are required to put a Snell serialized label inside each of their Snell certified helmets by the Licensing Agreement. Before you buy a helmet, verify it's certified using lookup tool or check out individual standards lists. http://www.smf.org/cert

Brian, I'm in for a switch plate.

I'd take a pair (one bike). In case you haven't thought of this: consider making it from solid stainless steel rod. Might be cheaper than chromed steel. Polished up, the stainless would challenge the chrome for shiny. And of course never rust! Brian, I found the instructions for installing these if it helps with the design.

Brian, How did you attach the rack to the trailer hitch? Looks like the hitch might be a Markland. Is the rack a quick disconnect from the hitch? Did you remove the hitch ball? I've got a Markland hitch on my '90 and have been kicking around the idea of a rack like that.

Need help with a couple of parts...............
Prairiehammer replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
How can you be so sure of that statement? The pictured item is NOT Yamaha OEM. -
If you are limited to 1.75 turns out because of damaged threads, how did you get that mixture screw out to inspect it? What size drill did you use to drill the cap? Most use a tiny drill ( 1/16" - 3/32") to drill just a big enough hole to insert a sheetmetal screw into and then using pliers, grasp the SM screw and wiggle and pull. Did you use a 1/4" drill and drill the plug at once? Like Carl says, it's very difficult to ruin the threads so much that you can't get the mix screw to be fully adjustable or to remove it. Heck, there was one guy here(?) that had a stripped out mixture screw screw slot. He cut away most of the surrounding carb body to access the mix screw enough to cut a new slot in the screw. He was able to remove the old screw and replace it with a new one and had a perfectly functioning carb. A cursory look into the mixture screw recess or well will not reveal any threads. The threads are not visible without a good light and craning around to see DEEP down inside and are NOT VISIBLE at all with the mixture screw installed. Re-reading your initial post you stated that the mixture screw bottomed out after just two full turns. My guess is that there is something (spring? washer? O-ring? broken needle tip?) lodged at the bottom of the hole preventing the mix screw from seating properly. The threads would have to be buggered closest to the seat. You could not have damaged the threads at that depth while the mixture screw was in place. One thing that has happened when one drills the cap and hits the mixture screw with the spinning drill: the drill spins the screw in quickly and with force. This may damage the mixture screw by breaking the sharp tip, it may damage and deform the mixture screw seat, it may break the O-ring or even the spring. Any of these scenarios may leave damage or debris behind preventing the Mixture screw from fully seating.

I'm impressed! Looks very professional. What's your friend's name? He is quite the asset.

That is correct, Alfred. For those First Gens looking to modernize to an MP3 audio source, without the cassette adapter or FM transmitter issues, VentureMP3 has made up an audio in jack for us. It is patched in between the amplifier and radio. It allows control of the stock audio as before but with an additional input source. http://ventureaudiolink.wordpress.com/

Merlyn, I've already packaged and put in the mail the entire assembly including clamp. Glad to have helped. -

You guys want the entire peg with clamp or just the chrome foot rest part/peg? Ozlander, I'll need an address. PM me. -
Seriously?! There must be something really wrong with your clutch hydraulics then. I've bled the clutch in as little as five minutes...on the side of the road...with a hot engine. The clutch almost bleeds itself.

Hey, Bill...I was just giving you a hard time. Actually if you want one it's yours for the cost of shipping. I have two complete pegs if you want to insure a match, but it appears we have the same ones. Ozlander, you want the other if KIC doesn't? -

Sorry, Scott. I failed to note that you had a 1985 bike, so my suggestions may not be applicable. Maybe could be made to work, though? Here's another that should be applicable to your bike, though. It's the cord from the amplifier to the false tank for the driver. It's NOS Yamaha and while I can't guarantee that you can get it for starting price... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Venture-NOS-accessory-lead-OEM-NEW-26H-88197-00-Venture-Royal-XVZ1300-/200768724351?hash=item2ebebf9d7f&item=200768724351&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

Here is the passenger controller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Venture-Remote-Control-1986-1993-OEM-passenger-cb-remote-/230799289065?hash=item35bcb5aae9&item=230799289065&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr It snaps into this base mounted on the trunk: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-1993-Yamaha-Venture-Remote-Control-Base-Assembly-/300710183336?hash=item4603b941a8&item=300710183336&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr The driver's head set will plug into this female socket, usually located on a clip on the false tank cover, (at least that is so on 1986-1993):

Rick, I know you are not running Internet Explorer, but the 5B4 error may be significant. Go here and maybe there is a clue to your problem: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie9-windows_vista/5b4-error-trying-to-install-ie9/098788e0-f0fe-466d-9200-e4f2df73b86b

Brad, That color was called "Midnight Silver" (I know, I know, it's more blue than silver. Yamaha did the same with the '87 "Orion Silver/Aurora Silver". It's blue to almost everyone.) And "Midnight Silver" was apparently only available on a 1986 Standard in Canada. Squid, That 1991 Tuxedo is my favorite as well. Yamaha called it "New Blue Black" (primary) over "Bluish Black" (Secondary).

Production number question
Prairiehammer replied to raybear71's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Generally, the last four or five digits reflect the serial number of production, but sometimes it don't start at "0". More often starts with "000101" (1983-1986) or "010001" (1987) or even "033101" (1990). Also, there is the 1983½ Venture that changes things up a bit. Although they (the 1983½) had "DA" in the VIN denoting the year 1983, they started serial numbering with "000101" again. To differentiate a 1983 DA 000101 and a 1983½ DA 000101, look at the digits after "JYA" in the VIN. The 1983 DA 000101 will start with either "31M" (denoting a Royale) or "26H" (denoting a Standard). The 1983½ DA will start with "47T" (denoting a Royale) or "47R" (denoting a Standard). A "true" 1984 VIN will start with either "41V" (Royale) or "41R" (Standard) and will have "EA" as the year designation as opposed to "DA". Confused yet? What is the VIN of your bike?- 3 replies
