  1. I've looked for brisket around here and if it ain't corned, no one knows what the heck I'm talking about. There are no butcher shops around here. Everything comes into the supermarket in a box. Guess I'm gonna have to raise my own calf (and pig).
  2. I got a Weber Smoky Mountain for Christmas. Cut down an old apple tree last summer. Sounds like a perfect combo, no? Well, I have yet to use it. Can't afford the hunks of meat that I should be smokin'. Your "fattie" sounds good.
  3. Happy Birfday, Don. You still look like this?
  4. So far there are three of us going. Hope the weather is nice. Missed the heaviest rain last year.
  5. Perhaps it is a matter of semantics. There is an advertising banner at the top of the page for Jake Wilson. I assumed that they were a "VR vendor".
  6. Perhaps the same idea but instead of clamping to the tube, rig up something to slip under the upper triple tree?
  7. Best? Can't say. But they are a supporter here and I've had no problem with their service or their price. http://www.jakewilson.com/
  8. A guy here: http://goldwingtech.info/exavid/forktool.html made a simple tool to help install the cap.
  9. Oh! I've chased many a squirrel round and round a tree. But chase one up a tree? Carrying a gun? LMAO! I'll leave that task to you "Snaggletooth" .
  10. Maybe you should see the urologist 'bout that.
  11. Why would he want to climb a tree to hunt SMALL game?
  12. What? You don't think this looks good!?
  13. Steve, perhaps I'll get the last word in...before Freebird lands on this thread. I see that our arguments are not that diverse in the broad scope. I simply believe that the ODDS of a person getting a safe® product are better with an American, or Japanese, or German, or UK made product than a Wal-Mart marketed (and probably contracted by) product which is invariably made in China for the cheapest possible price, along with all that may bring (lack of expensive quality control, safety, etc.) Peace.
  14. Steve, I understand where you are coming from when you speak CE approved armor and even helmet standards (I believe Snell to be an even more stringent standard than the Euro guidelines and yet Snell Foundation approved helmets are not approved for use in Europe.) and that argument is not lost on me, HOWEVER, how many "armored" jackets are sold by Wal-Mart and the ilk without the CE rating? And, an uninformed consumer/motorcyclist would feel quite comfortable buying the cheap stuff, oblivious to the inferiority of the jacket. Where is the corporate responsibility there?
  15. There are class action suits against Wal-Mart currently, perhaps dozens, but with revenue of $419 BILLION in 2011, there would have to thousands of multi million dollar verdicts to put them out of business. Meanwhile, the margins are growing and the dollars keep flowing. Balderdash!
  16. I agree with your assertion of US Corporations hiding their true product origins. But, a careful study of the product specifications can reveal inconsistencies that are harbingers of potential problems. Even if the materials of USA made products are imported, there is a high likelihood that the US manufacturer is going to check that material for bad stuff before utilizing it in his end product. I think many US corporations are greedy and sending their production to China, India or Viet Nam simply to save many dollars and then sell the familiar American name branded product to unwary consumers is criminal. To add the greed of Wal-Mart into the mix with that corporations demands on it's suppliers makes for a potential toxic mix. Do you really think the largest company in the world gives a rat's a$$ about product liability?
  17. I don't recall any safety problems with most Japanese motorcycles. Japan has a very stringent safety protocol and a completely different culture than the Chinese. If I'm not mistaken, there have been many recalls of Wal-Mart marketed Chinese made products over the years. Wal-Mart is not called the "Evil Empire" for nothing. And I'm not defending CamelBak, either for their outsourcing. That's why I said to look for "MADE IN USA".
  18. You are taking your chances with anything from ChinaWal-Mart. BPA, lead, etc. That water you are drinking will be sitting in gawd knows what for hours, getting hot. I would look for Made in USA BPA free.
  19. I ride with a full face too, Brian and have been using a tube with a "bite valve". I attach the tube to my microphone boom and move it around to suit my drinking. I also use a collapsible water bottle tucked between the windshield and dash on the First Gen; doesn't hold a lot, maybe half a litre, but it gets me to next gas stop, unless it is really hot. I got that bottle at the Ontario welcome center in Sault Ste. Marie. Because it is flexible (basically a sac) I can fill it and still slide it down into that space between the dash and 'shield. The bite valve came from a different water bottle I found at a sporting goods store. I think it might have been a replacement part for those water bags on your back. What do they call them? ...Camelbak? Go here for some good points about choosing a hydration system: http://www.rei.com/expertadvice/articles/hydration+system.html
  20. Steve, I can't help you with the Cody pics, but Deb took one of you and me at Davis Rally. You weren't on the bike, but considering the subject matter this is a pretty good pic.
  21. Seems to me, with that much intake, there is going to be a need for frequent stops to eliminate...if you catch my drift. Do you LD guys have catheters as well? Perhaps 'Stiches don't show wetness from within?
  22. YEP!

  24. Stopped for speeding A rookie police officer pulled a biker over for speeding and had the following exchange: Officer: May I see your driver's license? Biker: I don't have one. I had it suspended when I got my 5th DUI. Officer: May I see the owner's card for this vehicle? Biker: It's not my bike. I stole it. Officer: The motorcycle is stolen? Biker: That's right. But come to think of it, I think I saw the owner's card in the tool bag when I was putting my gun in there. Officer: There's a gun in the tool bag? Biker: Yes sir. That's where I put it after I shot and killed the dude who owns this bike and stuffed his dope in the saddle bags. Officer: There's drugs in the saddle bags too? Biker: Yes, sir. Hearing this, the rookie immediately called his captain. The biker was quickly surrounded by police, and the captain approached the biker to handle the tense situation: Captain: Sir, can I see your license? Biker: Sure. Here it is. It was valid. Captain: Who's motorcycle is this? Biker: It's mine, officer. Here's the registration. Captain: Could you slowly open your tool bag so I can see if there's a gun in it? Biker: Yes, sir, but there's no gun in it. Sure enough, there was nothing in the tool bag. Captain: Would you mind opening your saddle bags? I was told you said there's drugs in them. Biker: No problem. The saddle bags were opened; no drugs. Captain: I don't understand it. The officer who stopped you said you told him you didn't have a license, stole this motorcycle, had a gun in the tool bag, and that there were drugs in the saddle bags. Biker: Yeah, I'll bet he told you I was speeding, too.
  25. Ha! That's funny. I've not heard Fort Riley called that before and I spent 30 months there; May73 through October75.
