    today on the way to work the bike delveloped a hesitation in 4th and 5th gear. shortly after that I noticed the lights flickering. after turning off highbeams, cruise, radio, and not using turn signals the hestation stopped but the dash lights(idiot lights) are still dim and the headlight/running lights are still flickering. anybody got clues? 62 miles is a long way to push the critter home.

    Met The Inventor In 91, One Of His Stories Was About Putting Them In A Car And It Failed Smog Test. Two Weeks Later They Replaced Head Gskt And Took It Back And It Passed With Flying Colors. Got Two Sets Of 8 Plugs For Free To Test. Put The Same Plug In Three Differenet Cars( 4cyl, Inline Six Cyl, And V6) Over 6 Month Period All Three Blew Head Gasket(s) Within 2k Miles. Coincidence? And Yes The Plugs Were The Correct Type For The Cars As At The Time I Worked In A Parts House That Was The First To Sell Them.

    I Had A 96 Four Years Ago. It Did Almost The Same Thing. No First Or 5th. The Star Washer Sounds Like Your Problem Too. In Fact It Was Four Years Ago To The Month. DON'T try to force it into gear. The shift fork is VERY soft alluminum and will bend way out of shape.

    kreg; take a close look at the bottom container. you may consider putting plywood inside or underneath the box..mine cracked right where the mount are. no big deal for the price and it was after 6k miles.

    It was fun meeting you folks. Sorry I couldn't follow on to fayettville. After The grandson dumped his scoot I just didn't feel comfortable putting you guys at risk. But the next time? I may have two grandkids with us. The next one just passed his MSF. Now if I could find a trio of first gens cheap for the three of us........just a dream.
