prediction... Living will/end of life requirement in all of our insurance policies in the next 5-10 years... PEIA in WV hs been pushing for it for five years and is promisng a reducton in insurance rates... sooner or later they are gonna get it... If not, they will make the insurance rates so high that people will be forced to make them. This "no helmet law" and total distain from other common sense approaches (seat belts, anti drug devices in motor vehicles etc.. so on and so forth) shall only expidiite the process... Bona petite!

This is what I have on my 650 Vstar, Nice thing about this specific one is that it deactivates the cruise control when you apply the front brake, or, if you depress tab with your thumb... http://www.brakeawayproducts.com/

Since the cords not damaged? the tires basically OK... tube it, or, clean and put a vulcanized patch on the inside of the tire... Either way, your gonna have to take the back tire off...

looks like a good fix to me..The T post anchored to both the concrete and the 6 x 6 is the key thing you want to do, that, and the concrete to support the weight of the roof...Good job!

My dad use to jack thes sales people around by going to these free vavcation/time share pitches and shaking his head yes but in the end NEVER SIGINING ANYTHING.... The ski resorts in N. PA can't remeber name, We'd even get free dishes and things out of it... (puke yellow in color) eventually they figured it out quit calling... In his later years he'd keep the salesman on the phone for as long as he could... you see he had MS, didn't/couldn't do too much, and it was all Big Game to him to see just how long he could keep them on the phone. Think he even kept track of it... When they finally caught on... they didn't call back! like he always said... If it sounds " to Good to be true", it probably is...

I've got a simular problem in my pole garage. will fix by placing concerete blocks stacked 24"high on both sides of beam and resting an oak 2 x 6 on top of both stacks and lag screwing to the 6 x 6 vertical pole. then since the 6 x 6 is supported, I can chain saw off rotten part and take my tractor and pull old rotten 6 x 6 . they have these round cardboard sleeves for pouring concrete 10"? round for posts. slide under post, level with bottom of cut off 6 x 6, then attach a "L" shaped hold down to the 6 x 6 with lag screw(s), pour concrete let sit a few days and you'll be ready to fix another. I don't like the idea of wood "in" concrete either...

Now where did I put my pen???" Was you holding a rectal thermometer? Hummmmmmmmmm, Just wondering....Perhaps you'd know.... whats the difference between a rectal and oral thermometer and have you ever gottten them mixed up..., or does it depend on the patients attitude....

Compare Venture with Suzuki vs1400 Intruder please
CaptainJoe replied to DrAlloway's topic in Watering Hole
The Venture comes with a 5 YEAR WARRANTY... basically unheard of in the motorcycle industry. Suzukis, Yamahas and Hondas are pretty bullet proof and I've owned them all. Can't say anthing about kawasakis as I've never owned one, although my friend swears by his. For comfort I can ride my 2007 RSV 10 -12 hours (500-600 mi) comfortably... Great wind protection plenty of power and top it all off with its standard electronic cruise control, CB and radio...Yup, shes a Keeper! -
Rule of thumb i follow while out on the road in the country is to pay close attention to the truckers and other vehicles around the eatin estabishments. If theres a bunch of activity around one it's probably a very good place to go...

Twigg , "The Founders gave us the 4th Amendment precisely because they knew that government was run by men, who can only be trusted if appropriate checks and balances are in place. And I would be happy to accept testing of welfare recipients, provided the same standard was applied to all who receive the benefit of tax dollars. " 1. Sounds like double speak to me ... your either for equality or not? 2. The paramont theme in the constituion is equality ..... you agree? 3. Keeping that in mind... eithereveryone gets tested, or none. "Your body is free from government search except upon reasonable suspicion of probable cause. It's the supreme law of the land." 1. Not true... When you travel on a plane everyone is searched , when you enter a federal courtroom etc... My main point was we are in a drug epidemic today. People are getting killed everyday, just because some jackwagon wants to (smoke a little dope or crack and thinks that it doesn't hurt anyone...) they need to wake up ! When you drive a vehicle you must wear seat belts and follow all laws for the state you are in. Do you know you have a llittle black box in all of your 'modern' vehicles that collect data such as speed, lights etc that will be retrieved in the event of a serious crash?

Harley is a "nice" bike, But I feel the Yamaha Venture is a "Better" touring bike. Ditto on the Honda Goldwings, they are "better" touring bikes. A friend of mine has a kawasaki model that was sued a few years back for coping the harley sound. Almost every time we ride together he chooses the Kawasaki over his harley ultra classic. For me the main issue is not the cost or repair issues, but all of this "brand HYPE" and snobbery. If I were to win the lottery tomorrow I would still not own a Harley. I am so sick and tired of some of the harley dealers "Daytona Harley" looking down their noses at the japanese bikes. Specially when you just know they own japanese cars...LOL. I know of no other motorcycle shop that has more clothing than bike parts on display... think about it... Don't get me wrong, I own specific brands on some things but its related to proven dependability, durability and overall craftmanship. Milwakee, Dewalt... tools, Toyota Cars, Carrier or Trane air conditioners and yes a Yamaha Venture If a Harley was truly better than the others, it would come with a standard wall to wall 7 or 10 year warrantey...

" Wish I could comment here.......but, I can't... I'd have to retire first....I still need a paycheck for now..........bring this back up in about 3 years..... " I hear you. If our government was truly interested in stopping illegal drugs, they could... And, It would not be as hard as some might think! Just keep your head down Tom...

I have said for years that devices should be placed on all motor vehicles, autos, planes, ships, 18 wheelers, motorcycles .etc. so on and so forth. If you don't have anything to hide you won't mind it... in volume this system would be CHEAP and the purchaser of vehicle would pay for it. If data was stored including pic of driver on every "illegal drug fail incident" a no start and an intervention would be warranted. For a "legal drug fail" the vehicle simply wouldn't start. (unless of course it's on a plane,train,18 wheeler etc) There's talk about testing welfare recipients, but, to be fair, drug use affects us all. to ensure equal protection under the law, the afore-mentioned testing would be a way to eliminate /reduce the need for random drug testing (after all, who doesn't drive). Random drug testing is EXPENSIVE!

Update, Changed to new Dunlop E3s front and rear. Origional Dunlop 404's tires were 3/32nds rear, 4/32nds front, weird as I normally get twice the life on a front tire???? Checked old tire balance on rear with 1 oz weight and it was spot on removed old tire and was showing heavy where wheel weight was took off weight and rim was perfectly balanced put new tire on ...still perfectly balanced Checked old tire balance on front with 2 oz weight and it was spot on removed tire and rim was still spot on put new tire on ...still perfectly balanced So... My deductions: The rear rim was perfectly balanced from factory as was the new E3. It was the 404 that wasn't in balance. The front rim however, needed the 2 oz to correct a rim imperfection. The E3 was perfect, as was the 404. For what it's worth...

Oil filters that have been pre oiled on the gasket and the engine cleaned off with a towel and then your finger, only need to be tightened 1/4 turn after reaching "hand tight". Anything more than this you will have a hard time getting it back off. With all the torque specs on this bike I find it kind of dissapointing that they didn't allow enough room to use a simple ratchet or small torque wrench to tighten the oil filter. There simply isn't enough room... I use one of those small band type oil filter wrenches that surround the middle of the filter(suppose to use the end but that doesn't work either...)

Whining Venture
CaptainJoe replied to Ferrantelli's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
10w30 makes it louder 10w40 Yamalube makes it tolerable... I made the mistake of using 10w30 on my second oil change. -
are you using top coat clear coat? I won't use anything but....
