They all copy off of each other. Sometimes it's due to attract more customers other times it's to comply with the EPA. Carburated bikes will soon Have to be EFI. EPA effectively shut down the 2 cycle street bikes in 79... As far as keeping the bike the same and just adding abs. etc... That wouldnt work either, as, you'd still have people wining about not changing the airodynamics etc... Every once in a shile you have to change the body style to attract customers. I would like to see a lighter bike based on a FJR but with added wind protection (electric windshield) and comfortable seating... Oh... almost forgot... dump that rear shock and get something that will last the life of the bike... (rebuildable)

How to search the forum
CaptainJoe replied to Freebird's topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
It's on the venturerider homepage now... although it only has three search areas. Every other place I have looked at has five including: "unanswered threads and search calander"? Something must have changed... most likely the venturerider homepage is coded differently than the rest? Searcha> vbmenu_register("navbar_search"); script>td> homepage Searcha> vbmenu_register("navbar_search"); script>td> -

How to search the forum
CaptainJoe replied to Freebird's topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
Confused: Did a search from the home page of the forum using google search/venturerider.org and the search term "oil" got 58,900 hits Then did a search from this thread using google search/venturerider.org and search term "oil" again 58,900 hits??? Whats the difference? Now granted, you have to have the second blue menu bar at the very top of the screen before you click search button, otherwise you don't see the entire search critreria Box? either way it should use google to search the entire venturerider.org site -
dynabeads in the engine oil? Actually your not to far off. Any oil that is not a single weight, has carbon polymers that expand when they get "W"arm hence 20w50... (20 cold 50 warm)
-
Actually it's the U.S. oil companies selling to China instead of "Us". They make more Profit that way...

Why thank you Mr. english teacher! LOL Now that's constructive critism! But I must warn you, I don't have spell checker either and you shall have a full time job keeping up with that... so Ha!

Guess it just goes to show one should never use labels... As far as the "group hugs" or "Hooking up" with my fellow riders, well ... let's just say that will "NEVER HAPPEN"! Unless of course your my cute wife...

Quite frankly calling someone ignorant is insulting, period.... I for one am tired of all this Politically correct Crap! If you don't want your threads deleted, act civil(speak to others as you would like to be spoken to) Don't have a problem with the moderators deleting things when they get out of hand. Only wish they would delete the offending post instead of an entire thread. See what you started Black Owl!

Freezyrider "I have left all the air out of my Kumho just to see what happened. The back end dropped maybe an inch at most. Not even close to sitting down on the rim. " Are you riunning a run flat like tom?
-
Just a little confused as to where "Explosive decompression" is comming from.. never wrote that. said depressurize. My point was, if you say...run over a sharp chunk of metal... your tire will be completely flat before you can come to a stop.

But we really don't much ride at speeds where that is a major concern .... we are talking heavy tourers and cruisers here, not race bikes. __________________ Ha... nice try.. So your saying ,you don't cruise interstates at 75? If Posted limit is 70, I always add 5. Seems to me I am one of the more consevative riders on this forum as many constantly bragg about excesses . Oh s%$# said the "C" word! Sorry... My main concern, is if the tire starts to goes flat there is a high probably that it will be shredded due to "no" side wall what so ever of a car tire... Can literally sit on a dunlop E3 (without a rim) and it doesnt even budge due to its extreemely thick sidewalls. The new Kumho i have in the garage can easily be pushed down with one hand... Although it may not shred, it will definately be flailing around the rim and if it comes off, it will get ugly. Chose not to install the tire on my bike due to this and the fact it would not seat with 80 PSI. Dont feel its good for a tires structure to exceed. Most tires seat "way under" max PSI. Just relaying my concerns with the darkside and in no way trying to convert someone to my way of thinking. However, I do feel it is good to be armed with all the knowledge you can before you make the final decesion. Would like to know, Has anyone had a flat at highway speeds and How did ti turn out?
-
If your tires depressurizes at say 75 mph, and, you have ABS saddle bags on each side, and, abslolutely no side walls to speak of ... how do you think that is going to turn out? Just wondering.. about those that don't have run flats...

Serious cornering questions tips for an experienced Rider
CaptainJoe replied to muaymendez1's topic in Safety and Education
Riding a motorcycle is EXACTLY like skiing or snowbarding... An Expert willing to take "chances" eventually winds up DEAD.. An Expert constantly seeking to improve his skills and making decisions on what he sees... normally lives to see another day. in racing you deaccellerate right before the turn then accelerate into the turn(when you can see where your going) there are reasons for doing this, but, "your on a touring Bike"... ?? Blast around a blind corner just because it"s the cool thing to do?.... I've never seen a Ride like a pro video that shows that ... Your suppose to be in control of yourself at all times??? I personally think it's an irresponsible thing to do... no matter how many times you've ridden the road. Dude ... if you want to race ... go to a race track... and while your at it get a faster bike cause the Venture isn't going to get you far. That goes for 1st gens too...Yeah, thats right ...Bring it! LOL Dont worry about what others think... -
We'll have been dead for almost 5 years... MY MAYAN CALANDER ENDS ON Dec 21,2012... Everyone knows NASA doesn' t know Jack S.! Daaaaaaaaaaaaah....

How do you lower a 2nd Gen Venture
CaptainJoe replied to pilot172's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have a 29" inseam... Fixed the problem on my 07 midnight by raising the forks in the triple clamps 1 inch. There's a write up on the procedure in the 2nd gen tech section. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=939 That the cheapest fix if you're handy with tools... a bike lift and have about 2-3 hrs to do it... Next, as others have stated you could have your seat reworked. The most expensive is buying and installing a lowering kit... -
Yet Another Tire Question
CaptainJoe replied to leo3wheel's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Leo, Are trikes hard on front tires? Do they have a tendency to scuff the outer edges because of the extra weight? If they are, I'd change to newer tire, before the trip... if they aren't and your tire was simply low and you've got it under control(no leaks) your still double the mimnimum tread in the center... I'd probably wear it out. I always wear flat spots in center of treads as I ride the interstates a lot! Perhaps some of our trike riders will chime in, if not create a new thread or perhaps pm a few of them. -
On a positive note: my daughter said she'd pay for the marina for the jet ski and the pontoon boat if i left it there in charleston Wv on the Kanawaha river...LOL Believe I'll take her up on that as that way the boat will definately get used every weekend! Besides the kanawaha and Elk rivers are cleaner than the OHIo river... Migh have to get a Meet and Eat together...
-
Thanks Jay Whats the better pontoon boats? Review I read stated below: Suntracker aluminum deck Premier legend Sundeck Brennington Harris flotebote listing for a suntracker http://boats.iboats.com/2005-sun-tracker-party-barge-25-regency-edition/1128000.html
