  2. flb_78, Afraid you were gonnna suggest that ... This truly is becoming a Internet dependant world isn't it? Won't be long now before they start CHARGING FOR IT...
  3. HEY! be nice... He might be shooting for a Darwin award!
  4. Man I must be getting old... Turned on VH1 and they had saturdaynight live on! Turned on MTV and MTV2 they had some kind of real life soap opera crap going on... Am I missing something??? these are suppose to be music video channels??? Where can a guy get some decent music videos to work out to? I have direct tv and know 801 thru 850 has music, but its a black screen... This snow is starting to sux
  5. or take a rounded wood chisel and knock center out...:whistling:of a regular coupler poblem doing it that way is getting the cut part covered evenly with collar "before the glue drys." they do make rubber collars 3" x 6", 4"x 6" and larger for the bigger pipe. And they'rer easier to work with plus you can take them apart anytime you want. check out other post for my suggested fix
  6. When I was a boy my friends would go to stonebridge and go swimming. My mom arrived in the voltswagon bug to collect me, but upon seeing her arrive we all jumped over the fence and hid... My little tattle tale brother screamed "I see you" , I SEE ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH! ... seems he had grabbed ahold of that electric fence... Another time me and the boys were together and I noticed the farmer had a little red light on his fence charger that would go on and off, so I suggested a little manup game. You guessed it, I grabbed the wire when the light was off...LOL:buttkick:
  7. if your worried about knocking sonmething else loose... And Your sure it is leaking on the bottom side of the elbow.... Cut the 3 inch pipe off 12" above the cleanout and pull pipe out of elbow, you should have a 3'-4' long piece of pipe in your hands... Push a 3" x 6" rubber collar over pipe above the cleanout. Turn old pipe around and around clean cut end off and inside of elbow with ABS/plastic pipe cleaner. Glue elbow and cut off end of the 3-4" piece and push into elbow holding till set. Now pull rubber collar, up over cut about halfway and tighten clamps... The straightest most direct path is always the best route when dealing with drain pipes... or you could put in two rubber collars 12" below the elbow and 12" above the cleanout, but your still gonna have to glue a piece into the elbow... That way you can put the straight piece of pipe in and connect by sliding the two collars to cover up cuts...just tighten and your done...
  8. Thats great documentation. and, If it is welded properly, it won't come back apart. Think of all that money you saved by not having to get new parts...
  9. TOM"on my Wing it seated at about 20 25 lbs or less. In MY mind allowing a tire to go to 80 90 or above LBS stresses the tire,THIS IS JUST MY OPINION..I know alot of guys that do it on the Venture, not me." Thats because on a Venture rear mag, there is a raised 1/8-3/16th rib about 1"? in from the edge of the rim... I have not seen this rib on any other mags i have owned. ??? Has anyone else experienced ribs, on inner portion of rim? Tom, does your honda rims have these ribs? When trying to seat my the tire, it got stuck on this rib. Can only speculate if one were to put rim back on bike without tire, and let her run in say 2nd gear on a stand, that those ribs, could be removed? and then probably only take 20 lbs psi to seat... Not saying to do this just speculating??? Myself i have a new Kumho and will probably bring it up to MD to get rid of it... 80psi and no seat was more than enough for me...
  10. Don't sweat it... You had to get rid of the mold anyway... Make sure you take bleach water like Trader suggested to kill the mold on the wood...
  11. Can't tell from pic but looks like a 3" pipe 22 1/2 degree elbow? If your lucky... you can take a hammer and tap on elbow straight up. Clean the inner portion of the elbow and outer portion of the pipe by scraping(looks like silicone caulk?) and then ABS pipe cleaner. Buy the ABS glue that can be used wet to reassemble liberally coating both the inside of elbow and the pipe and push together and hold for 60 seconds. If your not lucky and the elbow is not completely fitting over the pipe at least 1 1/4 "... cut elbow off as square as possible take to store and get a longer elbow cause your gonna loose 1 1/2 " of pipe on both ends . If not they can fix you up with the proper fittings to make up for the pipe lost. Chance are you'll most likely need two 3" pieces of 3" pipe, two 3" straight couplers, 1 3" elbow ?? deg., ABS pipe cleaner, glue that can be used wet for ABS. Hoping your lucky...LOL
  12. Not really . I've got some neodymiam magnets that are super strong 1"x3/4" x 3/16"thick doesn't really take much as all drywall screws and nails are steel. that plus they are only covered with about a 1/16" of joint compound ... you will feel it pulling when you move over one and it will actually stay on the wall by itself.. Give it a try.
  13. pickenfred"F-4? I grew up a country boy, poor as poor could be, It instilled in me Real Values, now days you just don't see. It was rough growing up in WV, life always had its spills, I have one leg shorter than the other, the Dr says from climbing these hills 60,000 miles per year I average, on the ole RSV it seems, I don't want to be misleading, 50,000 miles of that is Dreams. I heard of the F-4 windshield, about a year and a half ago, Sold earthworms, eggs and chickens, trying to save up enough dough. I wanted one of the F-4s badly, just almost enough to beg, Indeed a lucky Hillbilly, had an old hen lay a golden egg. On the phone I quickly placed my order, was truely a lucky man, 48 hours later I felt special, I had the F-4 in my hand. Now 7800 miles later, I'm still happy as a man can be, Riding a grinnin most all the time, By George now I can see. They must make them with feathers, in the rain it does so well, The F-4 disperses water, just like an old Ducks Tail Cleaning is no big problem, as with the old shields it could be, Spray on the Gleme and wipe it off, kinda simple now you see. But the F-4 has a problem, looks like Don Frank would know, Every bee that wants to greet me, through the vent holes its butt will go. I already have an F-4 and love it....so don't put me on the list. I hope whoever gets this shield enjoys it as much as I do mine. I just wanted to get some practice...maybe sometime I will want to WIN!! Fred " You didn't happen to set that all to music did you? Sounds like lyrics to me:whistling:
  14. Stroker ace"You got pygmies and craw fish and then the love bugs just don't know how I can compete even though I did break my windshield clean off hitting a hawk on one of these east TN back roads. There is hope " Well theres your angle.... need something strong enough to prevent Hawk attacks...lol On the serious side though... If you truly want durability feed back, just pick someone that has to deal with those love bugs everyday. They are the worst thing in the world to get off of your bike and I believe thats how I scratched my stock shield up.
  15. if you have a small magnet put a piece of scotch tape over it so it doesn't mark your walls... might save you a trip,
  16. Just pleasssse... tell me thats photoshopped?
  17. I don't know why HF sells Roud sticks... they are almost impossible to melt without distorting what you are trying to fix... Enjoy!
  18. Looking Good Andy, You'll love working with that welder, the fixes are just as strong as the origional part... Finding flat welding sticks is hard but if you clean off the end of a hammer with laquer thinner and clean off some hard oak you can flatten out the round HF welding sticks, which will make welding a lot faster! Good job! even though you cheated by using a DA.. HAHA...I do to!
  19. Stroker ace "Dang, didn't know I needed to tell stories or coat things so to speak guess I'll have regroup." You could always go back and edit what you wrote... Man o'Day...This could get INTERESTING.... I'm gonna go get my neopreme waders on... and sunshades...LOL Try including something about Grandma a dog and a train....
  20. Dont know if you have any discount motorcycle stores close by, but if your ever in WVA in the Meadows bridge area, there is this store that is just unbeatable in prices. its called "In the wind in WVA" I bought a 2 piece rainsuit Himalaya Motorcycle wear for $59, 4-5 years ago, it has been completely warterproof and has shielding on inner legs up to the knees to prevent burn thru. also purchased Choko overshoes rain proof nylon with rubber soles for $29... One warning my 650 pipes are right next to the foot pegs and i did touch the pipe with the rubber sole... it came off though. Really love the overshoes as if I'm wearing sneakers my feet are cool and dry in the summer especially if just after a rain or if im riding early spring the overshoes and over sized rainsuit over my touring master is a perfect way to retain heat.
  21. Hummmmmmmmm, 1. Move license plate to the cooler rack. 2. Install two new Dunlop E3's, grease splines and fingers, seal off holes in front and rear rims(after talking to pickenfred, we believe thats where the moisture and dust is getting in) looking for 1.125" square rubber plugs to push into square holes. The holes are reasonably square, but the corners are rounded. Will also have to get small round rubber plugs or black caulk for the two round holes on each side of every spoke just before it reaches the rim.... 5. Install a charging station in my trunk. 6. Install an air hose to connect both front forks together. 7. Get the dealership to replace my rear shock which has never worked since i bought it. I better get crackalackin!
  22. Check out overshoes for motorcyclists some come with a reinforcement area made just for exposed exhaust pipes
  23. Second gens don't need service manuals...Your thinking of First gens... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14 just look under guides
  24. Starfan"Like to add that I do not know if you guys in USA use glued joints on drainpipes or rubber seal joints. " for the return pipe.. everything behind a wall or under a floor," for the most part", is cleaned using a solvent and glued. most things above the floor have plastic compression fittings (jtraps straight pipe connectors etc...) rubber gaskets mainly used on the bottom of sink strainers For input water lines... ha,ha it's anybodys guess could be copper pipe, to any one of a number of different types of plastics... some soldiered, some glued others using compression fittings... I especially like the shark bites.... they make working with a variety of pipe effortless...
  25. if you can't see a leak above the floor: Most likely leaking at a tee , although i have seen some jackwagons that thought it would be a good idea to caulk completly around a toilet on a wood floor. When the seal (wax ring) goes guess where the water goes? plus, it will rot the floor out... Regardless, If the drywalls wet your gonna have to replace it (drywall) anyway. If you use a stud finder and Mark the center of the studs on each side with a pencil, you'll be able to cut the bad section out. score penciled section on each side with a utility knife, (studs bout 16" on center) , then randomly guess where the center is and score . You can make make some horizontal scores about a foot apart but just deep enough to cut the paper on all cuts. Now comes the fun part, hit it in the middle with the side of your hammer . That will crack the drywall on the edges making it easy to cut. Then take you knife and complete cutting the backside of the drywall paper...it will come out in chunks.
