  1. I've always liked the looks of a fat boy and the v-rods, but they are 300 mile bikes at best. Then again so is my 650 Vstar. Nope I was looking for a good touring bike, you know 500 mi.+ per day. As I don't have an iron butt. LOL
  2. 1. If your carb float has a hole in it it will fill up with gas and not shut off gas. 2. If dirt gets between the needle valve and the orifice in carb it will fill up with gas. There should be a clear plastic over flow pipe on each one of the carbs , have you noticed any gas under bike?
  3. I have found that putting on rain gear eliminates the effects of the cold wind. I have also used them on a cold morning or evening .
  4. Do they work equally as well? looks like the bend in the foot brackets are different? Saw your write up on the bracket, I will be making one this week as per your instructions.. Can get the stands on Ebay for about $25 apiece. Thanks Joe
  5. Will an xvz 1300 Venture center stand work on my 2007 RSMV with freee bird mod? will an xvz 1200 venture center stand work ...?
  6. Very nice paint job... Is it top coat clear coat?
  7. The dealerships that do that are the exception rather than the rule. Just proves there are stupid people wherever you go. The majority of dealers know they can't treat people like that, cause they will never be able to sell you a Harley if they did. Next time take their name and location and report them to central office, adding you will never buy a Harley and see what happens. Two of the guys I ride with are Harley owners. I Rode over 4000 mi with them last year and yes, it did seem that they couldn't resist the urge to stop at every Harley shop. I guess its a cult thing. I was riding a 2005 650 Vstar. Never once was I ask to move my bike. The entire group of us would have left if I had. I won't own a Harley till they make one watercooled and quieter. Ray, one of the Harley owners likes his Kawasaki better than his Ultra Classic. Probably due to the fact his Harley started leaking oil before his 10,000 check up. It was a common problem on the 6 speeds, and he was not a happy camper. Don't know if this true or not but A Harley Dealer told us the highest cost maintence bikes were Bmw then Harley. I like my Yamahas and Suzukis and Hondas. The only attention they need are oil, grease and gas.
  8. Sweet! Is this associated with a particular religious faith(s)? Sounds like good clean fun, Enjoy!
  9. My first bike was a $300 Yellow T250 suzuki street bike that I twisted the speedo off at over 100mph. I couldn't afford a car and my dad said if I paid the insurance and bills I could get it.(Boy... wish I had that bike back) My second bike was a brand new 1977? blue and white 175 yamaha enduro. I loved that bike. Cost about $100 to insure and was very easy on gas. If it were my son I'd want him to go the enduro path, for obvious reasons:whistling: Enduros are heavier and underpowered. If you set them up with knobbie tires, well lets just say, Don't ride it on a wet road... The stock tires are adequate, for dirt and street, as, your not going to go, much over 60mph? After he gets a couple years under his belt, if he spent more time in the dirt get a real dirt bike. If he liked the street better... If he likes both, I hope you either have a good job, or, the tenacity of my father. buying it myself taught me to respect things. In short a Enduro is a very good beginner bike as you can drop them all...day... long, and, about the only thing you'll have to replace is handelbars and clutch/brake levers.
  10. Thanks ATLM I'll keep that in mind. I need to order bike insurance toady. My 2005 650 Vstar has full coverage for about $100 a year so I'm hoping it's not to bad for the 2007 RSMV.
  11. Looks like he opened up a can of Woop Ass! Good for him.
  12. Hummmm, very interesting... It got me to thinking, what if one replaced the center stand, with a "good" sissor jack? The sissor jacks made today are a lot more substantial than those chincy things of yesteryear. I may be tinkering with this idea this afternoon. What are the dimensions of a factory centerstand? (mainly the thickness) My 09 RSMV doesn't have a centerstand at all and its impossible to hold the bike up and check the oil by yourself.
  13. STR... Very good way to remember what to look for! After verifing they have the signs, Call 911(Doctors can usually totally reverse stroke damage if person is medically treated within 3 hours) Have them chew 2 asprin and sip small amount of water . Two Asprin will thin blood and prevent clot from getting bigger. Need to get them dissolved in your stomach ASAP! Asprins have a coating on them, so if you don't chew them, it will take the stomach a while to dissolve to them.
  14. I see. Will have to wait till I get next week and tear apart to decide. Yours of course would be the "safest" way. Would hate to apply pressure and bend chrome off. Just got my lighted wing delivered by UPS. Excellent quaility and a perfect color match for my 09 RSMV. Will install tomorrow.
  15. So in essence your lowering the rear corner... Cool Just ordered mine so will be doing asame thing. Question? Why couldnt you just apply weight to rear corner(with saddle bag off), possibly using a wrapped crow bar or by cutting a Hose and placing on crome so as not to damage it?
  16. Congratulations! The first year is the toughest. You'll go crazy thinking you should be somewhere doing something. Just relax and slow down. Jump on the bike and put some miles on her. If you like to fish go fishin. Boating, hikeing anything to keep you busy. I retired at 49 after having burnt the candle from both ends for many many years. Now I just run the Park but pretty much work when I want to. I almost went back to work after the first 6 mos. but luckily summer came around and I got real busy real fast. The urge to go back to work went away! LOL...
  17. I need to do what my boss did. He bought a place in florida. When it got cold he went there, when it got hot there he came back, and, when it got hot in WV he went to canada fishin!
  18. Skid, We only got about 4" so I guess I shouldn't complain.
  19. The airbag would have to be his girlfriend, and look like Paris Hilton?... Yuk Yuk...
  20. Thanks for all the tips, guys. I got the ride like a pro v dvd and book set. I did in fact learn something. 1. Never in all my life used the back brake to make slow speed tight turns... But Hey, if it works... I'm game for it. Before I just used the dip method, the friction zone and leaning. Also found out min turn distance on a harley is 18'. Wonder what it is on a RSMV? 2. Although I've done this naturally all my life being a snow skier, never have I heard to turn your Head and look where you want to go in tight slow speed turns. The guy even breaks it down to exactly where you should be looking in a turn. In skiing turning your head and trunk torques your upper bodyso that your leggs and skis follow wether your on snow or in the air. I'm VERY IMPRESSED with this video/book and suggest it for 'everyone' that rides a bike. Now if it would quit snowing, I could go out and practice! Want to be able to drag floorboards doing Uturns. I've even got my wife into this now after watching video. She has a 250 Yamaha v-star. Before the video, she said my 650 v-star was way to big for her, but now???? I might have to buy another RSMV... LOL.
  21. Squeeze, Oh Yeah, good times!. I love to ski also but this is getting old. I moved here from Pennsylvania 14 years ago and the snow we're getting this year reminds me of there. Normally it snows in Sandyville WV one day, then melts the next. Not so, this year. There has been snow on the ground since beginning of January. So, just how do I get my bike over there to do a road trip thru Germany? My decendants are from Essen on my moms side and from Hermsdorf (between Jena and Gera) on my dads side. Hummmmmmm, road trip to Germany... Now that would be cool!
  22. I just finnished plowing about a mile of road here at the park and and 1/4 mile or so at Briarwood. Use to think it was fun as I put a plow on the front of my 4 wheeler and let er rip, but this is getting old! Buying that 2007 RSMV last week didn't help any. I rode it sunday, put 58 miles on her. come on sunshine!
  23. Might want to do a compression test on it before you start tearing things apart. Borrow or buy a compression tester and write down results.
