I just received my tax return for 2011 back from the IRS. It puzzles me!!! They are questioning how many dependents I claimed. I guess it was because of my response to the question: "List all dependents?" I replied: 12 million illegal immigrants; 3 million crack heads; 42 million unemployed people on food stamps, 2 million people in over 243 prisons; Half of Mexico; and 535 persons in the U.S. House and Senate." 1 useless President. Evidently, this was NOT an acceptable answer. I KEEP ASKING MYSELF, WHO DID I MISS?

Need a Yamaha Rear axel Gear case assembly
CaptainJoe replied to CaptainJoe's topic in General Tech Talk
Everyone I have talked to with a 650 has problems with this area. Other that this area its a bullet proof bike. Yamaha really dropped the ball on this one and is definitely ignoring the entire issue. mines still sitting in the garage.. will probably fix her before spring and sell her... been sitting for 2 years and that s not good for a bike... -
this has been a crazy year... Who knows who will go to the SB.... IT COUlD EVEN BE THE TEXANS...

Lowering Seat height?
CaptainJoe replied to HotRodYJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Can you lower the front end of a first gen by raising the fork tubes 1 inch in the triple clamps? That's what I did on my second gen and as an added bonus, it made the bike alot more predictable in slow speed turning. I have a 29-30" inseam and stock seat. -
+20? on the insulation Brad. (the spray on expanding kind for the walls and ceiling.) It will make a hugh difference in being able to maintain a temperature. After I reinforce the roof in my 4 bay 55 x 60 garage It will be sprayed. (dang... i found another project) Only thing i can add is make sure you have enough electrical recpticals , and pressurized air plumbed in, as it would be a pain to add later.

You guys be safe but above all, Have Fun!

Looks like it would fit right in with a Road Warrior movie... Wonder how far you'd get riding that around DC?

Wife had a chevy chevette back in the early 80's went to start it one day and nothing... had it towed to a shop and mechanic called me back laughing his butt off. Seems something had drug some acorns behind the plastic cover for the timing belt... You guessed it, when i tried to start it, the belt derailed. he put it back and it ran just fine. Back in those days the valve clearances allowed the engine to be turned over with impunity....Guess they planned for broken belts etc... not so with some newer autos.

Been sick for last four days... Took my mom to Dr's office and picked it up there... I seem to be almost completely over it now. Day two was the worst. A friend suggested Alka-Seltzer Plus, Berry flavour that you mix with 8 oz. hot water... Its the Day Severe cough cold and flu in the orange package.. That stuff soooothes your sore throat instantly and stops the urge to cough till you puke symptoms. Doesn't taste bad either. Used Pepto Bismal to calm stomach. Hopefully will be close to 100% tomorrow. Hope this helps somone else, being sick is no fun at all...

Did he fire it up to see what came out?

As far as actually counting them up, I've got better things to do....... Obviously you don't ... Gotcha!

I'd like to see Payton Manning and the Denver Broncos win the superbowl, just to stick it in the ear of Indianapolis... Altough, The Steelers always will be, my favorite team... win or lose

To get back to the origional intent... I'm thinking it's only going to show you that 90% of those responding to this thread are first Genners, or, an occassional Harley and Goldwing owner:rotfl:

Well, I bet that bunched your shorts up! The wheels, swing arms and forks are heavy on these bikes... I have a HF motorcycle /ATV jack and am constantly worried every time I take the front wheel off. Good post

Carb install and hoses question
CaptainJoe replied to roehlerich's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
heat the large hoses with a heat gun on low or hair dryer(keep fire estinguisher handy just in case) then spray with carb cleaner... they will slide in easily and the cleaner will evaporate in a couple seconds. Todays carb cleaner does not hurt rubber like the old stuff. make sure you turn your carbs upside and blow (with your mouth) into gas hose first... this will ensure that your floats are sealing properly...(will simulate a full of gas condition) good luck PS, don't forget to wear saftey glasses... that carb fluid is very hard on ones eyes... -
Absolutely correct! If your on Hughes net, don't even think of using this product. Their fair access policy will shut you down in less than 3 hrs.. Found that out when watching a Steelers football game at the lowest quality 280...

These are touring bikes... If I had wanted the fastest production motorcycle, I would have bought a 99-01 BUSA and... saved at least $5K right out of the box... the deer would have crossed a day later... HA!
-
I'd like to see them succeed, but, I wouldn't buy their stock... Traders Guide have scores of Harleys for sale. The baby boomers have already: "been there, done that". Trying to sell +20K bikes in todays economy??? Don't believe there's a large market for these types of bikes. IMHO Hard core bike riders will always be there, But I will not fork out over $20k, even for a touring bike (unless of course I hit the lottery) Like I said hope they make it...

Just got back from docs. he said no permanent damage! WooooHoooo:cool10: I have to put antibiotic drops in until two days after my eyes quit discharging a yellowish hard like substance. he said its my bodys way of fighting off infection. felt like my eyelids were glued together this morning. He also said Refresh is probably the best thing i could have done after the saline solution hose down... bought 2 new pairs of stihl saftey glasses $5 apiece but these babies have wide vented slots on the earpieces.... found they don't fog up easily... Anyway looks like I dodged a bullet... Thanks again for the well wishes!

Thanks for all the well wishers... Going to eye drs. this morning. I am seeing ok this morning, but definately not 100 percent. Going to buy an eye flush kit (looks like an hour glass that holds saline sloution) and large bottle of saline to keep in the garage. will also buy some vented saftey glasses at stihl shop and face shields at HF. Also REFRESH eye drops, they really work. When it happened, I had walked to my moms(she didn't have any) then up to the house to start to get the carb fluid out of my eyes... way to long when your eyes are burning... Should be ok but he may prescribe something to promote healing... thanks again Joe
