Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... That all depends on your deductable. excellent thread though... My wife and I had the same discussion. If you have a $5000 deductable on your health insurance like I do, make sure get Select Solutions to cover medical expenses resulting from an accident. mine is good for up to the deductable of $5000. one caveot... you must pay the bill first and they reimburse you. Otherwise your out the 5K.

Thats fantastic!.. Would definately catch on with the kids.... Hummmmmm.... Wonder what it would do with a knobbie on it... might be able to do some Killer hills?????? Would probably feel like skiing if you were standing and would automatically do away with the technical part of weight transfer thru gyroscopes "assumption". can you imagine going up and down steep hills on that thing.... What a RUSH! that would be!

Venture engine sound
CaptainJoe replied to alwrmcusn's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'd go about it this way: If you squeeze the clutch in at speed and the noise is still there it's not the tranny or clutch basket. tranny noises generally get louder when you apply throttle. If you then (with the clutch still in) hit the kill switch and the noise is still there it's not a vacume problem either. Tires on these bikes can also be loud.... I went with Dunlop E3's and they are definately noisy... My dunlop 404's were quit. -

did you change your oil right before you noticed this sound? I once put in yamalube 10w40 and it whined like a banchee... noise was really noticeable in a certain range of about 15mph. say from 45-60 mph. At 70 mph couldn't hear the whine at all Put 3000 mile on her and changed back to 20w50, no more noise... -
Got it yesterday in an email... Reminded me of Big Toms sewage problems...soooooooooo, I "dug up" Toms old post.

It's winter in Upstate N.Y., And the gentle breezes blow, 70 miles per hour at 52 below! Oh, how I love Upstate N.Y. When the snow's up to your butt; You take a breath of winter air And your nose is frozen shut. Yes, the weather here is wonderful, You may think that I'm a fool. But I could never leave Upstate N.Y., Cause I'm frozen to the stool

Doubling up on the prayers here. -
Arai-full face... My HJC modular saved my face after sliding, down a blacktop road face first unconscious. The next day I threw my half and 3/4 helmet away and bought the best helmet I could buy.

The old timers around here dump a couple packs of yeast down the septic every couple of months... I still wouldn't let a septic tank go 10 or 12 years without being pumped???. if the soilds go out into your leech field it will defeat the purpose of the leech field.

Wet problem
CaptainJoe replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Might want to try a steamer to try and locate the area were things are going south. just do small areas at a time. You know the small hand held kind you use on drapes. maybe something as simple as a worn wire making contact when moisture is applied...or a cracked spark plug insulator... after you wash your bike with that much water the steam could be rising and getting in anywhere -
Whens the last time you had your septic tank pumped? Three to Five years is the norm? if its been more than that I'm betting it just needs pumped... Thats about a $300 fix here in WV. If you piull the top off of the tank and it overflows...its not a clogged line...

Dress for success, especially in IT... He can always dress down after he gets the job. Where I worked, i always had a suit, tie and extra shirt and pants on a hanger.... just in case. The agency heads frowned upon jeans and polo shirts ... Besides, the extra clothes come in handy when you have a food acccident... In fact I loaned them out on more than one occassion...

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to,doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.. Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out. When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act, she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable. When she went to tell Edna the news she said, “Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love. I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness.” She continued, “The bad news is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead.” Edna replied, “He didn't hang himself. I put him there to dry.... How soon can I go home?” Happy Mental Health Day! Remember to send this email to an unstable friend... I've done my part!!!

07 venture luggage rack info
CaptainJoe replied to gamberch's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The OEM yamaha rack is the only one i woud use. It has a wide strips that distributes the weight over a large area on that ABS trunk lid.IMHO -
If this is an "as is" sale I would walk away... If the only thing he is going to do is change a battery, some oil and dump some seafoam in it without gaurenteeing anything else, walk away. For this price "everything should work and be warrented for at least 90 days" along with having any recall issues fixed... like i said before there was a head gasket problem on(some of the) the 07's make sure it was done... Is there a factory warranty? If so Yamaha will pay to fix anything and everything... At this time of year you could probably find a newer higher milage bike for same or less... of course financing comes into play and i dont know your situation. The good thing about buying a previously owned used bike is you basically get the add ons free....like luggage rack, highway pegs extra lighting and lighted spoiler... as we all go crazy over BLING...

I'd be more interested in exactly, "how" he intends on cleaning them... an 07 with 2000 miles? I bought a 07 with 498 miles two years ago. PO had stated that a float or two that had stuck and he had to tap on carbs, and seafoam ... blah blah blah... point is... I couldn't get it perfectly adjusted when doing a carb tune. Then i developed a leak in my carb bowls from using (i'm guessing) older carb cleaner and ethanol gas, neither of which likes rubber. To make a long story short, I had to take carbs completly off. clean and rebuild and had to change float levels. Now it carbtunes perfectly. Make sure the dealer is going to 100% stand behind this "new bike". How many days? (90?) Have a member from here help do a carbtune, If you don't have one. Make sure the cruise control, radios and cb work and the back shock holds air.... I wouldn't worry about the tires if they are the Dunlop 404's. Youll be changing them this comming winter anyway KBB is quoting $9335. for one in Excellent condition...(they always run low) NADA is quoting $10825 for average retail... Good luck Playboys correct on that warranty.... my warrenty runs out the end of march(time to get my new shock)..LOL make sure its not in the serial numbers that had a recall in 07 for head gasket leak???
