  1. Darn, somebody else I didn't meet last nite! Which table were you at?? I was up in the corner next to Mother...
  2. Mamoh man Randy, if you can get a new mirror for $69, rush down and buy it and you can make a huge profit because the last time I checked those mirrors new from Yama were close to $200...
  3. Yup, sounds like your old battery had a weak cell or something, and was toast! Hopefully you should be fine for a few more years...
  4. The seats sometimes do develop a case of creaping crud that eventually hardens into resin like balls of deposit. That may or may not be your issue. The only seemingly cure is to reupholster or replace the seat. JCWhitney still has replacement seats for 1st gen available...
  5. Yes, I have delt with them too, seems to be a good honest dealer...
  6. Yup, Squid is alive and wel in Kitchener! Had a beer with him last nite. His new 2nd Gen, a rreal beaut, may be an '07 but it is brand spankibg new, had exactly 1 mile on it when he picked it up. Now has around 350 miles on it...
  7. Waaay Cool! My '84 has 14K miles on it too!! You are going to absolutely love that bike, a rolling Barcolounger...
  8. Glad things worked out for you!!
  9. The how part shouldn't be that difficult. Just go down to Sears and buy yourself some snap fasteners. They aren't that hard to put on, just make sure you have them lined up correctly on the bike...
  10. You are very welcome! I also have saddlebag crash bars for '83 - '85 in fair to good shape (3 sets). Just need an addy to send them...
  11. Why would you need parts unless you drop it??? Like others have mentioned, the only concern would be with the cards. Once you get it running, a can of sea foam would be in order. You will also want to flush the hydraulics and the cooling system as well...
  12. We;re going to be caging it up there. Lou, so we will see you up there...
  13. Wow! Between you two you can buy us ALL a new 2nd Gen and throw in a new Vmax as well!!
  14. Thanks, Mel, and Ben, you both sent me the same stuff, and that pretty much solves what I need to know. Now if I could just find the wiring harness I need...
  15. I still have a few to give away...
  16. First decided to finally finish assembling my Piggybacker. Early afternoon I was pleasantly surprised by a visit from Niagara135 (Steve) and his wife Cindy and had an enjoyable chat. After they left, I went back to the task at hand, only to be surprised a few minutes later by Big Tom and Tater, along with his friend Daryl (sp) and his wife whom we are embarrased to say we can't remember her name but were glad to meet the two of them. Got to swing a leg over a Valkrye and was thoroughly impressed with how low it is and how easy to balance. Me thinks I would like a touring version of one of those!! Anyways, after a nice visit by those 4 I actually got the Piggybacker in one piece, just a little bit more to do. Sure is nice to see something that looks like a trailer rather than three large pieces laying around! Weather was super, company was greatly appreciated, and I got something accomplished!!
  17. Done Deal
  18. I have spare turn signals and tail light assembly if you need them, Terry...
  19. Me too! I guess that answers the question of what a 1st gen would lok like with whitewalls...
  20. Yuppers, that wil bring big bucks! Nice mod with the lenses swapping out to clear lense wqith amber bulbs! Black Owl, look which way the bulb mounts. Switching to an LED with the bulb mounted sideways like that might not be as bright due to the direction of the bulb. LED lights tend to be directional...
  21. Truck stops are one of my favorite places to look for extra lights for Goldie! I agree the LED's can be more visible. They draw so very little that you could hang a hundred of them on your scoot and hardly draw anything off the stator. You can replace the bulbs with LED bulbs, but unfortunately on that aftermarket bumper the bulbs point sideways and with LED's they are directional so they won't show as well...
  22. Hi Wayne! Did a mod to the coolant tank by moving it as far forward as it would go by remounting the bracket. That gave just, and I do mean just enough room for the CB to slide in where the '84 CB controller panel goes. Had to do some trimming to the top panel and the center panel. I had a broken top panel from Mlother from the '86 up that I cut and modified the CB mount bracket and molded it onto my removable top upper panel. I just ordered the splitter and coax but still have to get the din cable for the CB to audio amp box. I have the yama PTT/Channel switch for me but no PTT for Becky yet. Just have to hard wire it in. Sure would be nice to have a connector for the CB in case it has to come out. Maybe I should rename this thread "Anybody Got A Wiring Harness For A '86 Up CB?" Mel, if you want to email those PDF's it's bongobobny@yahoo.com
  23. That's exactly what I wanted to try a few months ago, but the guy who said he was going to send me the bases never came thru. You will find most mirrors are the 11mm thread. I wanted to try it out to test for vibration but alas you have done what I didn't have the chance to do. Let us know how the rubber under the base works out...
  24. Doh!!! Stupid me! Just download the Mark II service manual, dummy! Just may find enough info in there to make it work. Now all I have to wait for is my splitter and hunk of coax... Scott, don't forget the gizmo I need for the trrailer lights. Mel, good to hear from you again! How's things been?
