  1. You'll find many of our members here do just that, it's good to see you at a young age taking hold of that concept. Gives me a little more faith in humanity
  2. Ah yes....I feel the love all the way from NY
  3. Up by Chicago, might be a good bike for someone to tinker with
  4. Very nice Bobby! Enjoy it all you can my friend!
  5. Awww isn't that sweet...Charlie is coming to your house Brad!....sooner than you think
  6. Larry, Please pass our condolences on to Joyce and yourself. Sad news to hear of a loved one passing on, if you need anything, you know where we are.
  7. Upon close examination of her facial feature I have determined that she looks EXACTLY like you!....even the pouty face, kinda like when you can't get any Ice Cream....Just sayin'
  8. I just love happy endings
  9. You got it Brudder, BTW I would absolutely go to Bogalusa for some of Beths Cajun cooking over coming towards Houston for some cheesecake. I like the cheesecake, but I love Beths cookin more
  10. Ben, I can relate to your senitments about your Dad hurting, but please dont push it on yourself in any way. We all know the risks everytime we get on a bike and just like you, your Dad wated to go with you. I know that doesn't help much, but you folks are in our thoughts. Stay strong for your dad, he'll get through this as will you...if you need something, ask of us for it, were here for you my friend.
  11. I have a set of stock mufflers that I would be willing to trade you for the Bubs and pay the shipping both ways mine to you and yours to me ...and theres nothing that needs to be done to the carbs.
  12. Damn....now I feel abused and unwanted Kenny will set you up right Chief, he's a decent wrench turner himself and isn't afraid to break someone elses bike Your still more than welcome to head over to Conroe (yeah new digs ) whenever you want to. Make sure that you scuff up the steels between the friction discs good and soak the new full size friction disc in oil for a few hours before the install. Looking forward to seeing you again soon
  13. CJ, Your '85 is going to have individual springs, so you could just replace the springs it it with some Barnetts for about $30 I would hazard to guess. Pull the clutch pac apart and clean the steels as I'm sure they are glazed. If you have the means to sandblast the steels thats even better. Your friction discs will be fine, I have NEVER in all the Ventures I have done clutch upgrades to had a friction disc show wear that made it not to be within tolerance. There is a write up in the tech library and it's pretty easy to do.
  14. Art, Have a great riding season and I do hope we get to catch up with you at some point here. BTW the clutch is a 15 minute job and you dont even have to drain the oil
  15. You beat me to it Craig....April Fools
  16. Ross, I haven't personally heard of him, but if you find that he is competent and he actually goes in and replaces all thats needed for $300 and adjust the floats right...that wouldn't be a bad deal.
  17. I'm with Freebird, anything that is light enough to be sprayed out of a can isn't heavy enough to do the job. Stick with a good grease and you wont have issues
  18. Ol' George is getting to be quite the "Mechanic" as of lately, you just might have to relinquish your position to him Bobbie
  19. Thats why were here Jerry, glad that you get the info you need here
  20. You are absolutely correct, especially if you live on any type of dirt road as that was what the issue was with Dale's bike
  21. Dale, I'm glad that we got your issues figured out, Eck is the one to thank as he wrote up a thread on it and that jarred my memory (thank god some of it's still there) Just for further clarification for the members. Dales issues was down under the left floorboard, the shifter is connected through 2 linkages and 2 pivot arms. One arm is in the rear of the system by the middle gear cover and the other is right under the floorboard. there is an arm assembly that pivots and takes the vertical linkage movement of the heel toe shifter, and switches it to horizontal leading back to the pivot arm @ the middle gear cover. The one under the floorboard was gummed up and we diasassembled the entire piece and cleaned it out....works everytime Kinda wish we would have took pics, but it was getting late in the day and I was wanting to make sure this was our culprit. It was great having you with us Dale, looking forward to the next time
  22. Gary, I know on many of my 1st gens once I set the cruise I have to push the button on the handlebar to accelerate to "pick up" the cable slack. Do you have all 3 of the lights come on @ the same time? and stay on? That wouldn't be a good thing and then I would start to check the levers for play as they will disengage the unit. Give a call and we can walk you through it over the phone....BTW nice bike
  23. Wondered where you went to Craig, shame to hear of the troubles, but good that your still here. Sometimes the man smacks us upside the head to tell us to SLOW DOWN! I'm glad to hear your on the mend, definitely sorry about the folks. Sounds like a good season of cycle therapy is in order...be safe my friend.
  24. Gary, It's basically just an ease of maintenance thing. They are in such a lousy spot that if you have issues with them it's way easier to lift the faux cover off and have it right there at your finger tips. Besides being under the battery and a bad spot to get to, any battery malfunction resulting in acid can make it onto and possibly into the TCI...and that really sucks!
  25. One hell of a post to wake up to. Ben I am so sorry to hear of your accident, and the man was with you as all of you are alive. Going down on a bike in any capacity sucks, I know all about that. Take your time and heal up, start keeping records of everything now and pursue your restitution to the fullest extent of the law. The bike will be replaced, you my friend are still here to hopefully ride another day. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you.
