Visit Wheels through Time Museum in Maggie Valley. http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com/ This is a very interesting place. You will be looking at a 1918 motorcycle and the owner will walk up and ask if you want to see it run. And then start it up. He offered us a ride on an old Harley, sidecar setup when we were walking up. If you have time - the Biltmore http://www.biltmore.com is also very interesting.

Check out http://www.ironhorsenc.com - they are a motorcycle lodge with accomodations from camping to multiple bedroom houses. It is the best place I have stayed oriented towards motorcycles. You won't be disappointed. Centrally located to all the rides you mentioned. I was just there in June for a week. They serve breakfast and dinner if you desire to sign up and pay for them which have always been a good value.

I have the original windshield off my 99. It has been laying around the house for 9 years. I didn't like looking through it. You are more than welcome to it. You will probably have to offer my wife a few bucks for it to make worth her while to ship it to you.

Anybody got stock pipes?MoRiverRat replied to Cottonpkr's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13) Cottonpkr - I have a set off my 99 - they have about 60k miles on them. They are boxed up and ready to go if you want to pay shipping. They are not perfect - they have drug the ground a few times (while on the bike) and they are full of road grime, but what do you want for free.

Interesting - I have never been run off the parking lot. On my many travels with my buddy with an Ultra Classic, I have visited a lot Harley Dealers. They all have been nice to me. I did have one guy at a shop where my buddy's bike was being repaired ask me what I was riding and I said a Yamaha. He said he was sorry. I replied "I'm not, I'm not at a Yamaha dealer having my bike repaired". He left me alone after that. My buddy had to rebuild his motor before 75k miles. If you find yourself in a Harley dealership, I challenge you to find something(other than a motorcycle) made in the USA.

Skid - where did you put the XM radio antenna?

Head cover gasketMoRiverRat replied to YamaDuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13) Mine (left rear cylinder) did the same thing this summer. It was the bolts on top of the chrome cover. I tightened them up and no more leak. 5 min job.

My Corbin seats are leather and I ride in the rain a lot - no problems after 8 years and 60k miles.

Yamaha catalog lists them for $285. But my catalog only shows black. I would check at www.corbin.com - I know you can pick your leather color there. I don't think they had it recovered because of the stitching.

Yes those are arm rests. Here are a few pics with my wife using them thru the tail of the dragon.

Handle Bar RisersMoRiverRat replied to midnightsunrider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13) I just added the risers on my 99 RSV - as you noticed, the rubber mounts no longer fit. I just left them off - I haven't rode it much since putting the risers on since the weather has been a little chilly here.

There are quite a few along the lower half of the Blue Ridge Parkway, I stayed at 3 of them in 2007. In 2008, I only went back to one of them - www.Ironhorsenc.com. By far the best out there.

Hey bmxndad, What is the trunk mod you are referring to? I have a 99 RSV that the trunk is cracked at all the bolt holes.
-
I switched my 99 RSV to a Corbin seat. I have the stock seats, non-pillow top. The stock seat is taller than the Corbin seat. if you go to one of the meet and eats, someone will let you try out their non-stock seat.

Does any one know the wattage of the sun? Seems a 55watt headlamp wouldn't stand a chance. I have also been told to run with the high beams during the day only.

I just met the "New" or "imposter" Bill Yesterday morning - I guess timing is everthing. Sounds like the "Snarely" Bill wouldn't have met for breakfast at 6am.... Bill - looking forward to early morning rides this summer.

Any problems with luggage racks?MoRiverRat replied to Murphster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13) I have the Yamaha Rack and no problems with the lid. However, my trunk is cracked where it bolts down to the framing. So if you put a lot of weight in and on top of the trunk, pull up the floor inside your trunk and check it out. Maybe it is my wife leaning back too hard...

LED Brakelight, WOW!!MoRiverRat replied to Brian D.'s topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13) CMIK - did you replace the front and back turn signals? Did you need to install the load equalizer?

Definitely the Radio bites! I always use a MP3 player. I purchased a GPS that has 10gig of space for MP3s. I have my whole CD Collection loaded on it and never run out of music I like to listen to and no repeats! I hard wired it into the stock stereo (used the aux port that was for the 2.5mm jack in with the cassette).
