  1. Peggy You re so on my list for this offer Mini is bad enough already she doesnt need any nurse uniforms to do the evil nurse thing with me Jeff
  2. David Yes there is a way to adjust the choke rods give me a call at 9196735095 it would be easier to tell you how to do it than to type it out and hope that you can see the parts I am talking about Jeff
  3. Come on Don you know perfectly well that this site has gone to the Goldwings so why not get some Goldwing parts.LOL Not a bad prize for someone who likes shiny stuff on there bike Jeff
  4. I run 20-50 in my 83 year round so I would not think it was the oil put a fresh set of plugs in it and charge the battery before you do anything else even if the plugs are fairly new. When I go to start mine no matter the temps and I have started mine at 14 degrees F first of all dont touch the choke or gas hold the starter button till it hits the first time then add choke and it should start dont ask or think about it just try it. This is the process to start my blonde and day of the year at any temp. let us know if you get it running again or not. Jeff
  5. The point that we were trying to make (mini & I) is all of the bad talk about some of these trailers might be scaring off some of the new to trailer members here.I am in no way suggesting that anyone try to tow anything like I do as far as the center of gravity on the bike I had on my trailer the center of gravity was 12 inches or so above the trailer deck there was no worries on my part about that.the overall weight was less on this than the bunkhouse I tow when we go camping. If the trailer is stable and in good condition and the load is properly tied down all you have to worry about is the idots in the cages trying to take you out. you have to be confident in your riding abilities and machinery and keep your attention on the road and everything around you whenever you tow anything with a bike or cage I also suggest to everyone that is starting out with a trailer that you ride for a while by yourself to get used to towing before you put a passenger on the bike.
  6. Sounds like one of three things are happening loose battery connections battery going bad (loose plate) or the ignition is starting to go south Jeff
  7. Hey guys I dont have a trike but they sell this wrench for the wing or any other 2 1/2" oil filter it works great on the 12 wing and its thin so clearance is not an issue you may want to try one on the RSV http://www.bigbikeparts.com/Inventory/Navision/4-201?catalogNo= Jeff
  8. I usually remove the tank and use an external fuel cell I made I never use the pariscopes on anything but a first gen you can call me at 9196735095 from 9am to 9 pm est any day if you need me to talk you through any part of either service options Jeff
  9. That's great news Jeff hope all goes well for Gavin and your daughter Jeff
  10. You might want to try some Star tron its an ethenol treatment that is highly recomended down here I use it all the time in everything with a motor. You might also want to look at the carb overflows while its running to see if its poring out while you are riding. Jeff
  11. Hope both your Daughter and grandson are doing well and that the docs can convince him to stay put till all is prepared and he is real healthy Jeff
  12. Had a phone call from Beer 30 and was asked if I would like to get together this weekend at Deadwood.Gene and Becky actually have a weekend off this is the first I know of in 3 or more months. Feel free to ride the bike drive the cage or get there anyway you can its been a LONG time since we have seen them away from work and I am sure its going to be great as usual Hope to see you there Jeff
  13. Orin are you talking the water pump joint? Most likely your twinkie is leaking its actually a oil to water cooler type of thing do or have a radiator pressure test done if no other leaking spots are found that's where I would start then I would go to the waterpump (seen that one too) Jeff
  14. Margaret and I should be there around 4 tomorrow we are getting cabin K-8 at the koa for the night. Randy and I talked last night and he isnt sure if he is going to be able to make it his grandson is in the hospital and is due to be relased tomorrow. 15. Look at the following in this order although its not uncommon for a front end wobble at certain speeds. Front tire pressure rear tire pressure front tire cupping stearing head bearings for proper tightness on rebound I have one with everything right still wobbles at 32mph to 35 mph everything is good and thats just the speed its gonna happen on my 84 the 83 it happens at 25 to 30 both bikes are stable at 125 no wobble so its a resonate frequency that causes most wobbles at certain speeds. If all is good then just go with it and dont take both hands off at that speed I do it all the time so I wont tell you not to take your hands off. Good luck Jeff
  16. To answer the question it just cranked and cranked I think that we checked and found no spark I cant remember if any lights were on or not sorry was a few years ago.On another note when the kickstand on the 86 shorted out it killed the motor and refired as soon as I came to a stop I did away with it for good so never had that problem again. Before you go get a new fuel pump spend a few dollars and get a guage,T,and hose and hook a fuel guage in so you can eliminate the pump I would not even suspect the pump of doing what yall describe because it would try to die as it ran lean before shutting down (totally different symptoms) to start with. remember its most often the stupid simple things that stump the best mechanics so try not to over think the problem and eliminate things one at a time. You guys can call me if you need to at 9196735095 my phone is on between 8 am and 9 pm EST Jeff Jeff
  17. I would suspect if it has a trailer wiring harness on it that it is jacked up (not the first trike tail/turn signal wiring I have heard of being messed up) I would start with the add on wiring harness if it has one if not lift the seat and look at how the wiring is hooked up most of the tail light wiring is on the right side of the bike. Jeff
  18. 86-93 are all the same Do you need one? let me know Jeff 9196735095
  19. Lilbeaver,Outcast I remember back a few years ago on the way home from Maint day we had a 2nd gen die in the rain and would not restart we traced it down to the multi pin relay under the battery box.Everything goes through this relay (kick stand, kill switch, ect).look at this relay and bypass the kickstand switch (as a test).I bypassed the one on my 86 3 years ago no issues just remember to put the stand up before you go anywhere:rotf: I have read through the entire thread and I would suspect the kickstand switch but it could be the relay I mentioned I dont remember what its called. you can call me if you need to for more ideas 9196735095 Jeff
  20. Craig I understand your questions on the sidecar and am with you on wanting one I prefer sidecars over trikes myself. When I was waiting on my new bike I talked to the owner of A wing and a chair in monroe Nc he gave me alot of info over the phone very willingly and I am sure he would do the same for you. Here is his website http://awingandachair.com/ give him a call. On my wants he told me not to mount the sidecar I already have on my new wing as its not to the engineering that he feels will be an asset but more problems down the road.I was rather upset as you might guess but what he said made sense and no he didnt try to sell me a hack he was just trying to make the final rig everything it should be.He did say that he would install it but highly recommended my installing it on an older bike not a new bike.It seems that the family has been doing sidecar rigs for a long time so I am certain when I do get the actual sidecar I want for the wing he will probably be the one I take it to for the install as he knows what he is doing and I am just an aircraft mechanic and am only going on what I think is right for the sidecar install if you get my drift here. I am looking at the hannigan that is designed for the wing and trying to figure out the finances for it I dont have to have a sidecar rig at this point but I want one for long distance rides 2 up it would make it safer for Mini if I didnt have to worry about dropping the bike at the end of a 10 + hour ride Good luck and let us know what you decide. you can call me if you want at 9196735095 Jeff
  21. Come on Swifty you know that they just changed Cupcakes meds.:rotf: I think that he needs to go back to the doctor and get them changed back before he gets himself in some serious hot water around here.:stirthepot: As a first gen rider that does know how the old man crotch rockets ride and having ridden many 2 gens I can only hope that Brad was dreaming when he made this post. Brad knows that we love him like a brother and will not let him EVER forget his BIG daydream
  22. Most of your problems sounds like the fuse holders are loose we have been replacing the fuse panel with the new blade style fuses.Skydoc sells a kit for it I believe. Also look at the side stand switch for the no power to solenoid from starter switch. Welcome to the group Jeff
