That is one amazing kid. Great reading and great pictures. When reading the story hard to believe he's only 19 until you read something only a kid would do, or see his skate board strapped on the bike. Kid's got guts for sure and did it on a 76 CB550. WOW.

Now just take one of those deer and put your bike next to it. Take a picture of you, your bike, and the deer. Post the picture on the Great VR Scavenger hunt. And you can be the first to hit the current target.

I can see how this decision could take a heavy toll on your health and mental stability with all the wonderful places people are telling you about. Being the kindhearted person I am and hate to see people suffer such mental anguish over such a life changing decision. I will help you out. You come to Michigan, stay at my home and I will put everything in my life on the back burner and take your 5th wheel and bikes, and I will go to each and every one of the warm weather RV parks that have been suggested to you. I will compile a complete extensive report on each and every location. Yes I will stay 2-3 weeks at each place checking weather trends, restaurants, Bars, Ice Cream locations, and entertainment. The only charge to you will be for Gas, food, park fees, and cover charges (and tips) for those "entertainment" type places. I will not charge any personal fees. I figure if I start December 1st I should be able to have the report done by say June 1st. No No don't thank me, I'm happy to do it. Just let me know when to expect you and I will see to it that you find a wonderful winter hide-a-way.

My 83VR has been put up for the winter since late October because of the surgery I was supposed to have November 2. ( now rescheduled for December 11) A friend of mine Mike said he wasn't going riding and let me take his GL1500 for the day. I went to Gary's (99silver) and we took off for a ride. We traded bikes (Mike and Gary are friends also) so I could see what it was like riding a 2nd Gen since I've been looking to go to a 2nd Gen or back to a Goldwing. What I found was leg position very comfortable BUT when taking off for the first time I picked my feet up and TRIED to put them on foot pegs straight under me which was not there. Feet hit pavement and got a little squirrelly but made strong mental note, Forward floorboards, forward floorboards. Did not think I would like heal toe shifter but after a little bit it was alright. Back started to hurt fairly quick but just pulling on handle bars relieved back so I know I would have to have a back rest. Liked the feel of the bike but you do have to "steer" more where a first Gen you just lean into a turn. All in all I liked it BUT they need a tach, now Gary has Road King mufflers on his so I was able to hear the RPM's somewhat to try and learn shift points and what speed to ride in different gears but it would be rough learning the bike with stock quiet mufflers. Was riding to slow in 5th a lot. So after the surgery it will be time to look for a 2 Gen or a great deal on a Wing.

Went across the dam in June of 06, was bumper to bumper traffic that day because they were pouring the pilings for the bridge at the sharp curve. 108 degrees and had to put rags over my clutch and brake handles because they were to hot to touch. Awesome sight, been wanting to go back ever since. Also when I decided I will always own a liquid cooled bike. There was a group of Harleys setting along side the road at the check point trying to cool their bikes. How are they supposed to cool down in the 108 degree sun?

Who knows. This summer I went to 4 Yamaha dealers and none of them had any RSV's, they said they sell them as fast as they can get them. Two of them said they won't carry Stratoliners anymore because they don't sell. Guess every area is different. Regardless what they do if I can ever breath right again and get my back surgery done I'm going to a 2nd gen.

They didn't know she came up to my room. That was 8:00 at night when she showed up. Made appointment with lung doctor that they brought in to see me while I was in recovery room plus 2 other Doctors I'm supposed to follow up with. I can't breath very good right now and throat swollen and very sore. Soon as I can talk a little better making appointment with Hospital Administration. Waiting to see my surgeon and what he says before I call lawyer but I won't let this just go away but I still need my back fixed.

Forgot she also said that I came in with pneumonia. X-Ray 6 days before at Doctors, 4 days before at Hospital and then right after incident all showed OK. So far I have just Googled her name to see if I can find out about her. Have appointments to make and see what I can find out. Very tired and don't feel good so lots of resting tonight. But will not let her get away with this.

When I posted Sunday night that I was going in for back surgery at 6:30am I said something didn't feel right I WAS RIGHT. Anesthesiologist damn near killed me. This stupid female anesthesiologist was in such a hurry and wouldn't listen to anyone, Nurses told her I was not given all the shots to relax me and I was not ready to go. She grabbed me up anyway and took me to surgery. As we are going into surgery I'm telling her I'm not supposed to be remembering all this (from preveious surgerys I have had) her assistant telling her I had not had some shot in my neck yet and some stuff sprayed down my throat. So she sprays my throat and starts shoving this black tube down my throat, I'm gagging voices I can hear are telling her I'm not prepaired yet, I hear her say she has to use a lock and starts shoving another thing down my throat with the tube she already has in there. I can't breath at all and hear everybody yelling and then she wants a "trek kit" I'm about passed out, I hear my surgeon yell stop. About 1/2 hour later I come to in a recovery room with nurses everywhere I'm coughing up blood everywhere while they try to keep an oxigen mask on me. Was told later she pulled everything back out of my throat shoved it in again and hit gold or red I should say, they said I started coughing and blood was flying everywhere. Surgeon cancelled everything of course, had a lung doctor come in and put a small tube with a camera up my nose then down the throat to check things. Told me he would be the anesthesiologist next time. Bleeding got stopped and was kept overnight for oberservation. Have to start everything all over again in 2 weeks when throat is healed. Get this; I had lung x-rays before the operation and they were good, after this all happened the anesthesiologist blamed it on my lungs. She came to my room last night when my son was there and said I had an ashima attack and my lungs are in such bad shape that they cannot take an operation like this. But I passed the lung x-ray they did after all this happened too. Would not be out of hospital if I had any respatory problems they said. Bottom line I'm alive, have very sore throat, and meds to take so we can try the back surgery later. And that anesthesiologist is under investagation. And I need to see a lawyer, can't pay all this mandatory co-pay twice. Much more to this but this is the short version.

Got to be at Hospital at 6:30am, Daughter at her friends home until I get out. Haven't been able to sleep last couple of nights and this fiberglass brace they made doesn't fit, it's to small. I do not know what they are going to do about it, I cannot get on my feet without it after the surgery. I seem to be a lot more nervous this time, it just don't feel right. At least with that morphine drip I'll get more sleep then I've had in a couple of years. lol. I'll check in in a week or so......Bye.

Baby boomers all grown up. Growing up in my neighborhood every house had 2 or more kids and we all knew each other and the parents all knew each other. Where I live now just as many homes but can't be 10 kids total. Had ZERO trick or treeters last night. Also 1 parent isn't at home all day anymore with kids playing from house to house. Everyone just seams to be to busy to get to know each other anymore. Times have changed my friends.

How many VR members does it take to change a light bulb?

Very funny, should be moved to Jokes and Humor. -
My headlight on my 83 started doing silly things also before it went out. After doing everything already mentioned above it ended up to be the fuse block. I'm glad I did everything else to prevent future problems.

Don't know any details yet, called Doctor to see if results were in yet and they called me back and told me it's OK to go on with the back surgery. Will know more tomorrow when I go see the Doctor. So back surgery is a go for Monday. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

I was a member when I had my Wing. Went to the weekly dinner rides and a couple of their sponsored rides. Nice people but a lot more riding done on this site by far. -
