  9. if its like my 91 then lift the tank lid. You should see a small phillips head screw just below the gas tank cap. Take it out and the false tank cover should easily push forward . The top is set into a small rubber catch and should pop out easily. The battery is just under the false tank. Not sure about a quick jump connection but you can put a trickle charger setup on it with quick connect leads. DAvid
  10. hey your not all that far from me..........I could always swing down for a ride and you could see the setup I use................ At least it would give you an idea of what you might want. My flip face helmet headset I got from here http://www.sierra-mc.com ............cant remeber the model but its a J & M. My shorty helmet I bought from a member here that had a helmetless headset he didnt use so I got it for a steal. Hope this helps Oh yeah Im in mcleansville NC so your only 1 1/2 or so away and I got hunting buddies in Gold Hill so I could swing by for dinner with them too if your up for a ride one weekend or something let me know David

  14. Nathan ( brother from a diferent mother) called me today. He needed someone to talk to and cry with. Today the doctors told his mother that the lumps on her throat and head and lymphoma. I have no idea what stage or how far along she is in her battle except that she was just diagnosed. Momma Adkins is a very special woman. She has been nurse friend to every one she has known for 51 yrs. Either family or friends. Now when its her turn to relax this comes along. I am here asking with Nathans permision that if anyone can spare a moment to share this story with the big man upstairs it will be apreciated. This woman deseves better and I will personally be sending my knee mail for her as much as I can Many thanks as Ive personally seen what this group can acomplish when it teems up in prayer. David
  15. actually no...................my 91 I can still loisten through the bikes speakers and use the mike and ptt button as normal. I dont have to toggle backwards and forwards and my ear speakers are still on the headsets for when I want to use them, David
  16. what about stopping at a home depot or lowes and getting a cheap wire brush from the paint section. The type used to clean brushes and such. Pull one piece of the wire bristle and try it . We use it to clean out spray tips and some of those have wholes smaller than you can see through......................Just an idea David
  17. you folks be safe.........I do so wish I could have been there too but work wouldnt let me off yesterday and its an 11 hr ride one way............ be safe and keep the shiny side up David
  18. If I had the money brother that Valk would come to my driveway........... David
  19. mine(91 vr) did the same thing twice, Both time flushing the fluid fixed the problem. Also a chance that it will shift normal in the am. As the fluid cools. Not sure why that is , something about brake fluid picking up water as it ages and the water keeps the slave from working corectly when the system heats up. hope that helps as its all I know David
  20. ok first pic show basic area and second pic gives you a better look at where the idle adjuster knob is. These pics are from my 91 on the left side as you sit on the bike. If your looking at the carbs on left side the knob is just below the braket where the tubes vent out. As for rpms I prefer about 1000 . I tried 900 and less but the bike didnt like to creep ay that rpm so I settled on just a tick over 1000. sorry for not posting earlier but I wanted to add these pics and it was raining out there by the bucket fulls. David
