Well, I guess I've got a corrupt sense of humor because I got it and thought it was very funny. Ragtop had mentioned a couple of times that he got such a great deal on the trike (and I agree with him) that he felt that he had stolen it. So...Star joked that the trike had been stolen. I saw nothing wrong with it and did see the humor.

Yes, you should plug all four. Shouldn't affect the sync at all but being as it takes about 10 minutes to sync them, you may as well check them anyway.

No, in my opinion, it's a complete waste of time.

I will say again, I am NOT criticizing Mr. Jobs. Again, I think that his contributions to the tech world were tremendous. I simply take exception to many bloggers who are suddenly giving him credit for things that he is not responsible for. Even you said in post 10: "At any rate, no matter if your a fan or not, the fact that you get to post it here...means your using things that Steve and his companies invented." I ask again, exactly what did he INVENT? I give him full credit for many improvements that he made to various products but he did not invent the mouse. He did not invent the GUI. He did not have the first system to offer a GUI and the mouse. That was Xerox. Though it was not a commercial success, it was their innovations that Steve Jobs and other built upon. Many of the employees of NeXT were ex Xerox people who continued in the development of the system that Xerox and started and that was in use in thousands of locations. Corporations, universities, etc. They did release a commercial version that was not a success. Apple built upon that. Yes, they were probably the first to make the GUI a commercial success but Amiga and others were doing so also. Give the man credit. He deserves a LOT of credit but not for some of those things.

Question about rear wheel removal
Freebird replied to DANGEROUSDANA's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I remove the saddlebags, both mufflers and the rear brake caliper. Nothing more. Removing those things makes it very easy and they are not hard to remove. Here is a step by step submitted by Cougar that also covers a couple other things you should check while you have it apart. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=515 -
I don't want to argue that he wasn't a visionary and that he didn't make huge contributions to the industry but I also just can't sit back and let people give him credit for things that he absolutely did NOT invent. You listed a number of things and I could easily dispute most every one of them. The "mouse" is just one of those. Steve Jobs did NOT invent the mouse nor many, if any, of the other things that you listed. http://www.whoinventedit.net/who-invented-the-computer-mouse.html He also didn't make things affordable for the masses. I've been using computers since the TI 99/4A. It was certainly not user friendly but I moved from that to a PC with a single disc drive, no hard drive at all. I have also used a mouse for many years. It was affordable to the masses long before the Apple was.

I agree and his contributions will be forever remembered.
-
Well, you know that I'm not a huge fan of the Mac and I certainly don't agree with everything you have credited him for but I will acknowledge that he was a true visionary and that many of his products pushed other companies to improve their own offerings. There is no doubt that he will be missed and his contributions to the world of technology were tremendous. He will certainly be missed.

I suppose most will hate this, but a LIKE button?
Freebird replied to myminpins's topic in Requests for Features
OK, after trying it for a while, I decided to remove the "Like" button. It basically does the exact same thing as the "Thanks" button. If you really like a post, just "thank" them for it. I just don't think we need both. Not only does it just add more clutter to the screen but it also results in more queries to the server. Not a huge deal but always best to have as few as possible. -
Need Prayers for Ponch!!!
Freebird replied to Sweetnothing's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Ponch is a real trooper. I still pray for him daily and his road to recovery is truly an inspiration to me. I only hope that I would be half the man that he has shown to be during this horrible ordeal. -
No, you do not have to remove the exhaust nor drain the oil. Here is a little step by step. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10518

I think that most of us here do it way more often than is necessary. Yearly is probably more than enough. The fact is though, it is such a simple job that I check mine 3 or 4 times a year. It takes me about 10 minutes at the most. If it TRULY needs it done, most riders will feel some vibration in the floorboards and/or handlebars.

It really boils down to how much money you want to spend. Inexpensive but good reports: Piggybacker A little more but good reports: Aluma Trailer High priced but very good: Bushtec Hannigan Escalade I'm sure that others will add more.

They will certainly remain in our thoughts and prayers until home safely.

Yea, it was expensive for gas but still worth it. I know that none of the boats do very well on gas but I have to think that this one would do better if not so under powered. This was one of the smaller house boats. 14' x 50', 3 cabins, one bath, full kitchen, living room and etc. It was powered by a 85 HP Mercury two stroke. The gasoline generator also drank some gas. Most of the larger boats and even the smaller ones at other marinas are powered by I/O engines. Most are 120 HP and up. Some are Volvo/Penta diesels and I think they probably do better. Oh well, it was still a lot of fun. Fishing was terrible but fishing off a house boat is not great anyway. I also talked to a couple of fishing guides at the marina and they said that even they were working hard to find fish last week. I finally gave up and bought a bobber and some worms so at least caught a couple of small perch but I don't even consider that catching fish. We did have 4 wild turkeys come down almost right beside the boat late in the afternoon our last night there. They were fun to watch. Eileen has already decided that we are going to do this again sometime next spring. If we do, I would really like to drag a fishing boat down there to have along side the house boat.

Custom World International Backrest
Freebird replied to dacheedah's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
It looks good. I think that personally, I still prefer the single post type like the Diamond R but that one looks great too and should certainly make for a much more comfortable ride. -
I have been out of town for two weeks and have WAY too much to do around here. I would be more than happy to do it if you want to stop by the house on Saturday or Sunday though. Just don't have time to go anywhere.

Well, this is our last full day of vacation. It seems like forever since I have been home. After a week of sales meetings at our company resort in Wisconsin, I got home last Friday night and spent the night at home before leaving for Lake Cumberland in Kentucky at 5:00 on Saturday morning. We have been on a houseboat on Lake Cumberland since last Saturday. Tomorrow we turn the boat in and head back home. It has been quite an experience for me. This was all Eileen's idea. She felt that I needed to get away from civilization for a while and get some rest. She thought that being on the lake with no TV, Internet, etc. would be good for me. Well, I cheated on the Internet. Tethering my Blackberry to my laptop gets me a connection. Not a FAST connection but it could be worse. I've been good though and only checked email and the site a couple of times a day. After our first day here, I thought that I was going to go completely stir crazy. I couldn't even imagine spending a week here with no fast internet and etc. Then a strange thing happened. I actually started relaxing a little bit. I found that I could actually sit on the front deck of the boat, watch nature, fish a little bit and actually feel fairly content. Now I've reached the point that I actually am not looking forward to returning to civilization. So tomorrow night, we will be home again. The only thing that I'm NOT going to miss is the approximately $200.00 per day that this boat sucks up in gas. That is in spite of the fact that we have spend most of the time docked in secluded coves.

I'll take a look at this stuff when I get home next weekend. Right now, I'm sitting on a house boat on Lake Cumberland in KY. I can get online but it's not the fastest connection.

I've been at the company resort near Hayward, WI all week at our semi-annual sales meeting. It is finally coming to an end. Tonight I fly home and then I'm taking off next week for a much needed vacation. This has to have been one of the longest weeks in history.

Ah...you are right of course. Please excuse the brain fart. What I was really thinking about is the engine oil. If the clutch is burned that badly, it should be very dark. Of course if it is time for an oil change, it might be hard to tell.
-
One thing that has bothered me about this entire issue is an earlier post where he stated that the clutch fluid looks clear and clean. I think if the clutch was burned to the point of not even moving the bike, the fluid would be pretty dark looking.

I suppose most will hate this, but a LIKE button?
Freebird replied to myminpins's topic in Requests for Features
That would actually be very easy because now I've got the code in place. I'm still not convinced though that we need both a "like" and a "thanks" button. I'm just watching the comments and then will decide whether or not to keep it.
