  1. Is that the stock rubber cover that comes on the bikes new? If so, I may have one and if I can find it, you can have it. I'm out of town right now though so it will be the weekend before I can look. If you don't find one before then, I'll see if I can come up with it.
  2. There's also one right here in Ohio. Just a few miles from me. I've never used them but have seen their work and it is excellent. http://www.customchromeplating.com/index.html
  3. I've never used either product but I've read elsewhere that the Miracle Cloth is pretty much the same thing as the Classic Cloth. Here's the website but if you want to try it, check out Ebay. MUCH cheaper there. http://www.miraclecloth.com/
  4. OK then...I can do it in 1/2 second. Actually, I have a Corbin seat on the '99 and long ago removed the one screw that holds the backrest in. So, it just pulls right out. No reason for it to be bolted in that I know of.
  5. I can beat that. The backrest on my '99 comes off and goes back on in about 2 seconds.
  6. In my opinion, take it out and store it in your house.
  7. A carb sync takes about 10 minutes. It is also very simple to do. I wish you lived closer and I would do it for free.
  8. I think it's a great idea but we haven't done well with VentureRider flags here. I designed one and have one on my bike and we had a guy that was making and shipping them on demand. I think he went out of business but the last I talked to him, he had received very few orders. I already have one but would sure buy another one if we come up with another source. The ones that I was having made were just a black flag with our Venturerider logo in silver. Mine has held up very well over the years.
  9. No, that is not the correct seat. Here is how it should look on the bottom. I found this one on the Pinwall site. He has a number of passenger seats for sale.
  10. I finally took the time yesterday to watch the special on the Discovery Channel, "IGenius". I actually thought that it was pretty well done. It seemed to me that they emphasized the improvements that he made to many products and I was glad to see that he was just given credit for "inventing" so many things that some have claimed that he did. They pointed out that he was, what they called, a "re-inventor". He added his touch to many products and did indeed improve a lot of them. I agree that his contributions to the industry were tremendous and again, thank him for that.
  11. Hearing about Ponch's great process always brings a smile. I think of him all the time and look forward to visiting with him again. I tell you what, he just HAS to come to maintenance day so he needs to keep chasing the nurses around until he feels better. I know that he won't be able to ride but hopefully he will feel well enough by then to fly up. It's too early to start it now but I'm thinking that a small fundraiser to buy some airline tickets is in our future. I am also reserving the guest bedroom or the guest house here for them this year. So...make your plans folks. I hope that we can make Freebird's Maintenance Day a very special one this year. I will be announcing the dates soon.
  12. Beautiful bike. You don't find them like that very often.
  13. Yes, I have dealt with them many times and have always been pleased. That is not to say that there haven't been a few negative reports here also. I am sure though that they will treat you right. Yes, I have heard a couple reports here about the radio going bad. I know that Yamaha has replaced a few of them. I still can't quiet get my mind around your issue though. If you get sound from the headset but not from the speakers, it just doesn't sound like the radio to me. I honestly don't know the circuitry though so I am probably wrong. If the switching is done internally in the radio, then yes, that would be possible. I tell you what though. I actually have a spare controller, the black unit that is mounted on the handlebars. I don't want to sell it but if you want to borrow it to make sure it's not the issue, I could send it to you. You wouldn't have to remove yours. Just open the fairing, plug mine in, see if it corrects your problem. If you want to try it, just PM me your address and I'll get it out tomorrow morning. I'll even pay shipping to you if you pay shipping to return it.
  14. It sounds like you are talking about the Clarion radio. If so, check Pinwall, they have a lot of them at $289.00 to $299.00. Here is a link if it works correctly. http://stores.ebay.com/PinWall-Cycle-Parts-Inc/Yamaha-Venture-Royal-Star-/_i.html?_nkw=Radio&submit=Search&_fsub=5820835&_sid=12458664
  15. It was just time for it to go away. No one person was responsible.
  16. How old is the front tire? Gently run your palm along the edge of the tread to feel for cupping.
  17. Sorry, forgot to proof read my post. http://www.netlingo.com/acronyms.php
  18. Here you go. Good luck. WARNING...some of them are NOT PG rated.

  20. Vern, I added your bike model and year to your postbit and also moved this thread to the second gen area. Don
  21. You know there are TWO fuses that affect the audio system right? One is under the cover on the left side and the other is inside the lower right cowling. Have you checked them both? Otherwise, have you double checked to be sure that you have it set to external speakers and not HS for headset?
  22. Thanks for the reply Rick. Yes, it is a good article. You are correct that it is much more difficult to practice higher speed emergency braking but can also be very beneficial. I've got to say though...it DOES bother me a little that you are able to quote Opra.
  23. Folks, I've been making an extra effort to make sure that ANY posts requesting prayers or any other religious content be posted ONLY in the " Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc." forum. If I see such a thread started in the Watering Hole or anywhere else, I move it immediately upon seeing it. Though I know that the majority of you are not bothered buy such posts, I also know that some of you are. It is not my intention to try and force the religious views of myself or anybody else on you. That being said, there are a number of members here who do appreciate that area and therefore, it is not going away. I want to remind you all that you do not have to read or post in that area. You do not even have to SEE it. You can hide any forum here simply by going to your User Control Panel. Click on "edit options" in the left menu and then scroll down until you see the field that allows you to exclude any forums from your view. It is very easy to do. If you wish to hide the "Prayer Request" forum or any other forum and can't figure out how to do it, send me a PM and I will help. I have closed this thread and deleted all responses. The point was to remind those who have been here a while and inform those who are new here that there is an option to hide any forums that you don't wish to see. This was meant to be an informative post but was starting to turn into a religious debate. Thank you for your understanding.
  24. Very nice. Pulled the trigger...I think that was TRIGGERS....must have been a double barrel.
  25. I recorded it but haven't had time to watch it. Am going out of town this morning so will try to watch it sometime next weekend.
