  1. www.ChromeProsPlating.com 4531 Ayers, Suite 412 Corpus Christi, Texas 78415 Im looking for someone who lives in the area who can go to the above shop and check on my wheels status. What started as a 3-4 week wait is now hitting its 6th week. They say one of the wheels had to be redone but something just dont sound right. Right now im not too happy with their customer service. When speaking to them on the phone they come off as phony. If you can make it over there PM me and ill send you my order #. Thanks, Jeff
  2. A few months ago I bought a Saddlemens seat from the classifieds here. It had a separate trunk seat back cover, which needed to be installed over the old pad. After removing the old cover with its 100 staples (or so it felt) I tried to staple the new cover on. My old staple gun just wasnt up to the task. I called a local auto upholsterer who quoted me a price of 80 bucks an hour. So, it would probably have run me about 40. I tried Sargents Cycle, which is located here in town and the guy said to come on by right now and they will take care of it right away. Cost would only be about 15 bucks. I got there about 1:30 and at 1:40 I had my pad back, looking like it came from the factory. They even steamed it to fit nice and snug. Took out my money and he waved me off. No charge, just remember us in the future. I gave him a tip to give to the installer and we argued about that. He finally took it and off I went. Everyone who passed me in the show room asked if I was being helped while I was waiting. Customer service really impressed me there and they had some really nice seats. I never asked if they had Venture seats but I am going back to them this week to see if they can fit the saddlebag lid covers I have on properly so ill ask them about seats for our bike. http://www.sargentcycle.com/
  3. So, I just broke one of my eyebrows and im looking for another one, or a set if you have it. I cracked it while trying to remove one of them. Never work on the bike when your in an agitated state...........
  4. While looking for a part on a Yamaha website I saw that the loyal and trusty cassette player is no longer available.........now they can go on and make a new RSV finally!!!!
  5. Tropical Storm Beryl is making a beeline for Jacksonville. Guess we were due for a storm eventually. Should make landfall about the time im picking Jean up from work at 9 PM. Eck, if we dont make it, take care of the 99 although you do have to put it together. As far as the Mustang goes, you get the two dogs with it as a package deal........I expect to lose power soon. It already failed once today. SURFS UP!!!!!!
  6. http://bozardford.com/images/spacer.gif We had a chance to get a great deal on this car because my son-in-law shoots this ford dealers commercials. We just couldnt refuse and they gave me a great price on our sebring convertible to boot. Its a 2007 Mustang GT Deluxe....300 HP V8, shaker sound system, full leather interior, 5 speed automatic. Took it for a test drive on I-95 in St Augustine. Hit 100 mph with no effort. Jean deserves this car after putting up with me all these years. But, I do get to drive it now and then.......:smile5: http://cdnedge.vinsolutions.com/AP/3026-2-10257046-64052278-0-0/64052278.jpg
  7. Just curious. Several weeks ago there was a set of chrome RSV wheels on Ebay for around 750 bucks from ChromePros wheel exchange. Did anyone here buy them?
  8. What would be the best type of switch to wire in to manually shut off the HID light prior to start up? Id like to find something decorative to maybe mount on the inner fairing. What amps/volts/etc would I need? Dont get too technical here. Just plain ol truckdrivers english please.
  9. Several weeks ago, a member posted an item for sale. I responded immediately. A few days later we talked on the phone to clarify some things and agree on a price. Once the total cost with shipping was determined I would then PayPal him. Said Item was never shipped. Several emails, PM's and voice mails later, and almost 3 weeks, still no items or responses, other then 1 post that it would be mailed out in the AM. Now the ad is marked sold. Another voice mail requesting an update...again, no response. So, the only assumption that I can come up with is the item was sold to another. Now, that little bit of background being said, there should be a list of do's and dont's when either buying or selling something in the classifieds. 1: Be honest. If there are any flaws, make them known. I was burned once before like that a long time ago on another cycle forum, even after a phone conversation with that seller who flat out lied to me. 2: Be a man, or woman: If you agree on something, stick to it. If something changes, let the buyer, or seller if your the buyer know. Don't like the price you agreed to? Let the other person know. 3: Be responsive: I know we all have our lives to live and sometimes we get delayed, but just what is a reasonable time to respond back to a seller or buyer? One person either wants to sell and another wants to buy. They want to get the deal over and done in a timely manner. One shouldn't have to leave multiple messages over weeks to get a response. Non-communication leads to assumptions. Most of the time I have found that those assumptions are usually right. But I have been known to be wrong too. It's simple.....just communicate with one another and there wont be any misunderstandings or assumptions. Have a nice day......
  10. I have been sanding the wheels on my 99 to begin polishing them. I still have a long way to go. I looked around at several chromers and polishers and was amazed at their quotes. One polisher, who I liked his work alot, came in at a price higher then some of the chromers. Best chrome price I can get is about 700 bucks. The polished wheels came in just over that. Guess ill just have to knuckle down and finish what I already started myself. The cost is just too prohibitive to farm it out.
  11. Any one here riding a nice looking blonde 1st gen staying at an extended stay motel in Vilano Beach, just outside of St Augustine FL? Me and Jean were hanging out on the Vilano Pier and as we were leaving we saw a 1st gen parked in the motels lot. I did a drive-by but no one looked out and I didnt see anything that would indicate hes a member here. Just wondered.....those pesky first gens are so rare, but to find one actually on the road, well........and I know it wasnt Dan.
  12. Got a call last night about 9 PM. Playboy was in town and wanted to get together. Too bad, I was at work. Asked him where he was staying and it was a hotel 1 block from my plant. So we agreed to have some coffee at the Waffle House when I got off at 1130 PM. Had a nice chat and he went to sleep and I went home. Sure do wish we had some more time. Anyway, meeting another man at his hotel room at midnight just didnt seem quite right.....:rotf: Sorry Vance, couldnt resist. But it was nice meeting up with you, even if it was only for an hour.
  13. IM considering doing the VMAX rear upgrade. Those who have already done it, are you happy with the results?
  14. Here we go again..............come as you are, or come fully dressed...we dont care as long as you come.....(hmmm, that didnt sound so good).....Lets try it again. Please arrive in chat safely....ok, better???
  15. http://www.coj.net/departments/sheriffs-office/news-room/jso-news/bank-robbery-suspect-sought-%282%29.aspx This photo ran on the local news several days ago. Turns out it was a co-worker. This guy used to load our trucks and was always quiet and kept to himself. Not even a disguise! I guess in a plant of about 800 people, someone was bound to recognize him. No, it wasnt me who turned him in either. But i am glad that no one was hurt. A few years back another quiet, unassuming co-worker who minded his own business was arrested for blowing away his wife and her boyfriend after finding them in bed...his bed!!! Sure glad im not quiet. Strange, but not quiet....
  16. So, I have had several helmets hooked up on the wall in my garage. One set of black helmets have been in the same spot since 2003, when I got rid of my black 83 1st gen and bought my 99 silver. The last week I have noticed this tiny bird coming in and out of the garage. Sitting outside today, in between getting the garage set-up to get back to working on the bike in earnest, I heard a loud chirping coming from a tree outside the house. The bird seemed to be stressed about something. I just happen to glance over to the black helmets on the wall and notice straw coming from behind the helmet. I go over and look closely. Sure enough, the bird is building a nest in both helmets. I go inside and leave the garage door open. In about 10 minutes, said bird made a dash for the helmets. So, it looks like im going to have some new garage mates for a bit. Ill just leave it alone, but I thought its all pretty cool. Sorry, I cant take pics of it. My New Fuji Camera wont work with my Mac and until I find out why the Mac keeps rejecting the pics I cant download any here. Wonder whats gonna wander into my garage next........
  17. My Daughter, Kelly called today from the Dr's office. Shes 6 weeks pregnant and she saw the baby's heartbeat on some type of scan. Now comes the spoiling........We warned her a long time ago. She was spoiled and now its payback time for her......LOL.
  18. So, if its nudity you want, well then its nudity that you will get........enter chat at your own risk!!! (really, you thought we'd look good nude?? Are you serious??)
  19. My daughter and her husband showed up last night out of the blue. She was quiet for a few minutes then she announced that we may be grandparents. Initial home testing shows shes pregnant. In a few weeks she will go for a full Dr eval and testing, but shes pretty convinced its gonna happen. Told her I may have to get a sidecar for the kid now.......I can se it now....Baby leathers for the first bday and leather streamers on the stroller.
  20. The Metro Diner in Jacksonville was featured a while back on Diners, Drive-in's and Dives with Guy Fieri. We were never able to even get in as this is a breakfast/lunch only place and its fairly small. They finally opened a second place at the beach and I went there today with my wife. Man, I never knew what I was missing!! This place rocks. No wonder it made the triple D show!! The menu was fantastic. We ended up having a new item called the Vortex burger. Lets break this thing down: Take 2 grilled cheese sandwiches with thick bacon slices, very nicely grilled. Now add a 1/2 lb fresh Angus burger, more cheese and cole slaw between both sandwiches. Stack it on a plate with fresh cut and fried potato chips and I mean a stack of them, not just a few and you have a triple D worthy heart attack on a plate. I should have only ordered 1 and split it as it was I was only able to finish just under half of it. Had some more for dinner with enough left over to satisfy the dogs. I looked around at some of the other tables and all the food looked fantastic. The table next to us had a 4 piece fried chicken plate with a thick Belgian waffle under it all and topped with some type of a strawberry sauce! Amazing!! If you pass through Jax you owe it to yourself to stop at this place. Its that good!! I was thinking of having a meet and eat here sometime but the waitress said that weekends are just a total madhouse and they shut down at 3 pm. Im not sure we would be able to seat so many at once. I didnt inquire about holding any tables yet, but I may sometime in the future for a possible M&E.
  21. Looks like I have to put the old girl up for sale soon. As of today, I just cannot see me riding it again. It has tons of extra accessories and its been a real blast. Ill make a decision by the end of the day after I talk it over with my family.
  22. This is not motorcycle related but for those of us who use the internet to order stuff such as household items, furniture, etc you need to check this place out. I have been dealing with them now for several years and their customer service, delivery, quality cant be beat. I have ordered futon mattresses, dishes, a whole living room set, office chairs and many other items from them usually at a pretty good price and free shipping to boot. Any time that I had an issue it was immediately resolved. I cannot say anything bad about them. Im sure your wife will like this site as well. Mine surely does....And they take PayPal. Were always looking for good places to deal with and I have found this place to be one of the best out there. http://www.wayfair.com
  23. Had nothing to do and while I was surfing ebay I typed in Stuff in the search column, just to see what came up. Seems that there is over 700 pages of stuff available. Wonder what would come up if I typed in crap?
  24. Since I decided to restore the ol' body to the condition it was in back in the 70's (minus the drugs) I have also decided to retro fit the RSV with a NOS 8 track player with Quad sound. I figure once I win one of the trailer raffles that I have entered, then ill have sufficient space to haul those 8 track tapes around. Im also considering going with fuzzy dice and pompom balls around the seat. Hmmmm, anyone have any Jimi/Janis stickers laying around? Maybe some tie-die seat covers.....The possibilities are endless. Hmmmm, maybe I should go further back into the 50's, for Eck's sake of course.... Wow, Perks are great s***:smile5:
  25. Had my RTKR done last Thursday and all went well. OS described the knee as a mess and I wouldnt have lasted much longer without the TKR. BCBS allowed 2 days stay but I was able to get the 3rd day. I wanted to stay for another week in the hospitals rehab center but the hospital advocates claimed all my ins would cover is at home therapy, which my OS agreed with.By Sun I had 0 0 70, walked about 300 ft and all should have been well. My concerns was that with my weight of 340 my getting up and down from a seated position would be hard. I still had a hard time with that. I was discharged and I was not able to get seated in my SUV. My daughter had to go home and come back with her lower suv. With some help I was able to get pulled into the back seat and finally home. I managed to get out safely and into the house. I still have not had a bowel movement since the day of surgery, other than urinating and passing gas. Now the fun begins. While at the hosp the therapists all had beefy assistants to help get me up. The home people show up and together they weigh less than me and both stood about 5'5 to my 5'11. Since my left "good" knee is also shot I was not able to put much pressure on it to raise myself up and the therapists, being so small were of no use to me. All I need is for someone who can handle my size/weight to get me past that one point and I would be able to function on my own fairly well. I also asked the hosp advocate to either have ins cover a lift chair or hosp bed for home use. No luck there either. So, the home nurse comes and accesses the situation and all home parties agree that I should be in a hospital therapy environment and they would make a strong recommendation for it. Or failing that, they would push for the fully automated hospital bed. and some beefier assistants. All I need is a few days to work this through and I should be ok. Lets see if ins cooperates. Bottom line: right now im basically stuck in my chair. If no one steps up I may have to call in rescue to lift me up. What really torques me with all of this was the fact that I had tried to address these concerns weeks before the surgery and during my 3 days there as well to no avail. Ill see what the day brings...... I would also like thank those who offered prayers, sent PM's or called me direct. It meant a lot!!
