  2. http://gma.yahoo.com/whitney-houston-iconic-pop-star-dies-48-014318782- Wow, only 48 too. What a shame.
  3. 20 more days till the TKR surgery....... It's kinda hitting me hard right now. I must be nuts, but it needs to be done. No backing out at this point. It has taken way too much of a toll on my personal life these last few years. Missed too much stuff. Took its toll on the family and pets, not to mention riding.
  4. Anyone have one chrome wheel trim hub from their RSV laying around they dont need? I need the non-weighted side. This is the hub that bolts over the front brake rotor. Thanks, Jeff
  5. Yes folks, were stripping down again.....jump in, the waters a bit chilly but what the hey.....
  6. Im considering going with a motor club, one that will also cover the bike. Right now im leaning on going with the GWRRA because their roadside assistance also covers cars as well. What im looking for is opinions from members here who use any of the different motor clubs that are out there, your experiences with them, pros and cons, etc. Im realizing that as I get older im having a much harder time doing some of the basic stuff like changing a flat tire, especially since I ant kneel anymore. So, tell me your thoughts on the clubs.....
  7. Discovered a slash on my left front tire on my SUV. It started leaking air as I arrived at work last night.Truck needed tires soon anyway so I went to the tire dealer. I had looked up the price online and set my appt there as well. Over 600 bucks. When I got the bill it was under 500 bucks with a mail in rebate as well. Took me a minute but I realized then that they pro rated my old set. That saved me over 100 bucks. It was a pleasent surprise.... Next week, the car!!!!
  8. Saw Bob Segar and the Silver Bullet Band last night. A solid 3 hour concert. Man, cant believe that hes now 66 yrs old and the first time I saw him was in Commack NY in 1977. But he still performed great and didnt miss a beat. Too bad ticket prices werent the same as they were in 1977. And it was funny seeing all the old geezers try and rock out to his music. Back then we were passing funny lit things and small pink pills. Now we were all vying for the handicapped parking spot. Man, passing the beach ball is now outlawed too.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSRVqsx9nG0&feature=youtu.be A co-worker made this and posted it on YouTube. If your a Jaguars fan you will understand it. Gene Smith is our general manager. Still funny as hell.
  10. After going through a series of clearance tests I was all set for my Feb 9th Total Knee Replacement surgery date. Got a call this morning from the surgical coordinator saying that due to a large amount of emergency surgeries that have come up they have to cancel my elective surgery until April 26th. I was stunned. Just how many emergencies surgeries could there have been? I was supposed to be on a cancellation list but I took my name off of it because Feb 9th date fit my schedule nicely. Now when i asked about the cancellation list the coordinator says she will put me on it but that cancellations are rare. They did offer to have another surgeon do the surgery on Jan 29th but this Dr uses a Depuy knee, which I do not want. My Dr uses a Stryker Triathlon knee, and after having done my research I was happy with the choice. It does not sound right to me. Im waiting for a return call. I dont want to start this process over with another Dr and another clinic but I also dont want to be screwed around with. What happens in April when they call again with another slew of emergencies? And what about the time limits on my clearances? Right now im just venting. But what I dont understand is why cant the other Dr handle his emergencies. It really sounds like they just dont want to do the surgery.
  11. I should have learned the ancient art of Origami, which is the art of paper folding to produce beautiful things, before I attempted to wrap the family's Christmas presents. Oh well, I can always blame the dogs.....

  13. The day before Thanksgiving, while preparing to set up a large turkey frying pot, Johnny, a friend from work, sustained 2nd to 3rd degree burns over most of his upper torso and head. He was life flighted to UF Shands burn unit in Gainsville FL for treatment. I talked to him by phone several times, all the while I still couldnt picture the agony he was in. They did a skin graft and so far its doing well. He made it home a few days ago and I went over to see him. It all hit me hard. While his face sustained some pretty severe burns it wasnt as bad as I had imagined. The rest of his upper body was wrapped up pretty good. He described the experience to me and it all came home pretty hard. Hes a pretty easy going guy and quite gregarious at times so to see him in such pain really had an effect. He says the scrubbing down is the worst. He served in Iraq at least twice that I remember and he said this is 100 times worse. He has developed a bad fear of fire now. We did manage a laugh when he said that if he was ever back in Iraq and caught and they brought him by a fire he would give everybody up!! Even laughing hurt him. But he still has some of his good humor with him. Just say a prayer or have a good thought for him as he recovers.
  14. Just saying Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here a day early. This year and last we have had to celebrate it on a Wed since the Post Office forces its employees to work their holidays. Jean and I are both employees and both are off tue/wed. So, while I have enough seniority to have the day off, poor wife does not. Kids are coming over as well as a few friends tonight at 5. Got a Copelands fried turkey coming soon. I made my world famous creamed potatoes and italian stuffing with sausage. And lets not forget the heavily candied yams coated with melted marshmallows. So, enjoy your Thanksgiving day with family and friends tomorrow, or tonight if thats the case.
  15. Just got back from seeing Rain. They were on Broadway and now they are touring. They do a fantastic Beatles show, starting from the beginning to their final moments together. If you like the Beatles you owe it to yourself to see this show if they are passing through your town. The place was sold out here on a Wednesday night no less. Sure did bring back some great memories (flashbacks?).
  16. Yes, were completely psychologically nude in chat at this very moment..... Enter at your own sanity.......
  17. Since the bike came with driving lights when I first bought it in 03 and I have never installed one on a stock RSV I have a signal light question for you. After assembling my inner fairing and hooking up all wires properly im having a grounding problem with the front signal lights. Driving lights work fine but when you put say the left signal on it will flash but the right signal will also flash alternately, but weak, which seems to be a bad ground somewhere. Same if I use the right signal. Rather then going to the trouble of just rewiring the existing signal lights, I was planning on ordering late model, low mileage stock signal lights online, which can be had cheep. My originals did leak when it rained or the bike was washed, which makes me think its fairly corroded in there. What I want to know, since I live in a humid area and im sure some corrosion has gotten in there over the last 12 years is: Are the signals the same as when it was stock and are they re-used when converting from stock to adding the driving light bar?

  20. Placed an order with Cruiser Customizing 2 weeks ago. I used them a few times in the past but had some issues with them back then so I didnt order from them anymore. I tried them again thinking that maybe things improved, ordering a Kuryakyn chrome caliper cover from them but 12 days later it still hasn't arrived. The answer they provided via emails only shows they have no real desire at true customer service. If they think a 4 week window for parts delivery is ok then there are plenty of other sources out there for parts. Out of all the sources that i have ordered from, CC seems to be one of the worst. I have used Jake Wilson, Competition Accessories, Phat Performance just to name a few and plenty on Ebay and none of them took that long for a part to arrive. Ok, just venting here...... The pasted item below is from our emails: first is down at the bottom and gos up. Why you would ship a domestic order through International mail makes no sense. The 200 to 300% reduction in shipping costs are on your end, not mine. My $8.00+ shipping charges most certainly would have covered shipping via Priority mail. And there is a tracking # on my order. The part has sat in Orlando Fl for 3 days now. If the answer you provided was supposed to make me feel better it did not. Your shipping policies are atrocious. No item should take 1-4 weeks to be delivered domestically. From: "orders@CC" To: ruffrider99@bellsouth.net Sent: Mon, October 24, 2011 12:32:35 PM Subject: RE: Customer Request: Order Status (LTK494019862879X) Good evening, Your order shipped 10/12/2011 via International Mail. There is no tracking number on these shipments, we do this to dramatically reduce the cost of shipping (sometimes 200% -300%). Shipping International is generally 1-4 weeks for delivery but can take up to 8 weeks just depending on customs. If you do not receive it by the 8 week time frame please let us know and we can review the shipment and reship if necessary. On a side note I believe we are currently trying to use another service as we are aware of the problem as well. I apologize for the wait and hope to have better service for you in the furture. Did you hear? Cruiser Customizing now has gift certificates! A great way for you to get them EXACTLY what they want. Individual Style. http://www.CruiserCustomizing.com ______________________________________________ Subject: Customer Request: Order Status Contact Information Email: ruffrider99@bellsouth.net Order Number: W20691952 My question is about: Order Status Additional Info: I placed an order on Oct 12 and as of today, 12 days later it still has not arrived. The shipping method you use is one of the worst systems I have ever seen. Why you use DHL is lost on me. As a Postal Service employee im aware of all the shipping methods. The delays are huge when you ship items through DHL. For what I paid for shipping you could have just shipped it in a small Priority box and it would have been here within 4 days. I have ordered plenty of bike parts over the years and the only time I ever had trouble was when DHL was involved last year with another company. This could certainly keep me from buying any more parts from CC in the future. Standard Parcel Post shipped directly through the Post Office would be faster then DHL.
  21. In the process of wiring up my new Polk 401 speakers. From what I have read the rear speakers are only mono. Has anyone rewired the rears for a true stereo sound? Can this be done? Everything is apart so I can run new wires to the rear, bypassing the stock wiring. Thanks for any info.
  22. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Oil-Filter-Genuine-Part-Made-Japan-/140616854793?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20bd6aed09 Found this item on ebay. A Yamaha oil filter for 22 bucks PLUS shipping. Just how stupid does the seller really think we are. But I still wonder if anyone has actually bought one of these from him. 1 5GH-13440-00-00 ELEMENT ASSY, OIL CLEANER $7.65 @ Stadium Cycle in Texas.
  23. Steve, if your up in the area can you see if the US-1 restaurant (the old sly fox) in S. Daytona is still open? A friend tried going there Friday night and it was closed. He said it didnt look abandoned but had a closed sign in the window. Kinda unusual for a Fri night. Dont make a special trip but if you just happen to head north, please check it out. Thanks, Jeff:smile5:
  24. I just bought a spare rear shock cheap but there is a slash in the rubber boot. What im looking for is someone who may have a bad rear shock laying around who could cut off the rubber boot and send it to me so I can "bond" it to the shock I have now. Ill cover shipping of course. Thanks.....
  25. While working on Sat I saw a midnight RSV on a trailer on I-10 W being pulled by a Ford F-150 in Jacksonville, then on my next trip about an hour later I saw an RSV with a voyager kit loaded on another trailer being pulled by a white Impala on I-295 N getting off on Commonwealth Ave here in Jax. ON Friday night I saw another RSV on a trailer. Three RSV's, loaded on trailers being pulled by vehicles with Florida tags. A very unusual sight. Unless there is a stolen vehicle ring operating here in town that specializes in Ventures.......
