  1. He probably is a member on this site, and has noticed that you haven't posted any pictures, so he has forgotten where he left off, and so needs all day to replan his plan, which gets him to the next day,,,, etc.
  2. Or 3 or 4 ooooorrrr all week
  3. If you're threatening to invade Iceland,, you should let the Newfies know. I know they would be a tremendous asset.
  4. Knowing his mentality that could take a very long time,,,,, but then there's probably someone else around him to screw things up at times.
  5. Basically the question is; how fast and how straight do you want to stop,,, if it doesn't matter then load it up. Consider that the bike is not a semi-tractor, it's not built to tow anything,,although it can be done. A trailer that already weighs 450 lbs and then to add say another 200 lbs cargo, is for sure pushing the envelope. Pulling and running straight will most likely not be an issue, it's the stopping distance and the turning that will give you problems. Consider what happens when in a turn and the trailer wheel goes through a hole, can give you quite a rip, less at higher speeds but touchy in a parking lot. A feller may not have a problem for 4 years running and then one day find out that the distance given to stop was just a little too short, he don't want to have to be kicking himself and saying: I guess that I loaded that too heavy.
  6. That's what got me wondering,,,,, anybody would check for damage to the forks when they take them apart,,, so I would assume that they did,,,, that makes me think that they didn't put things together right, and maybe damaged the seal by sliding it over the indent for the keeper ring,,, happens easy enough.
  7. That course looked somewhat similar to the course we have when I did riders training, well not as many cones, and not as many figure 8's but we had to do them none the less. We practiced a lot and then practiced some more, and then when we were tired of practicing, we were allowed to ride the course again, just so that we would get it right. We weren't using Ventures but 200 and 250cc Honda's and Suzuki's. Well in the end we could go home to practice some more, and I tell you 'practice makes perfect'!!!!!! I don't remember how many nights I went out on the parking lot, set up a course and did my practicing, until I got it all right,,, but eventually I did wake up, and had to get back to reality.
  8. Thanks for having us Thomas,, it was a great ride, and an even greater place to stop. Got home about 11:45 with SleepyII and XV100SE still looking their pillows. Left the young birds in Caledonia, made sure they were at least safely in their own home town. Don't have any idea what they might do if we didn't make sure, you know how parents are. The ice cream is something to come out for, next time we could maybe even invite some foreigners over.
  9. Maybe the vinyl is breaking down,,,, I won't argue that,,, but mine still looks good, has no rips or cracks, (other than the normal repaired piece at the front). It's original and will serve until gives me more issues. So far it has not cost me a new cover, is not sticky, could use another cleaning to look better, and it has been 4 years and 3 thorough cleanings with carb cleaner,,,,, just my experience.
  10. I'm somewhat retired so I have to live up to that you know. As far as materials are concerned, soft material will let sound through,, so not much good, hence the hard plastic on the outside, and the foam to absorb the vibration created by sound hitting the plastic. I hope that makes it somewhat clearer.
  11. Patience my man,,,, patience, good things take time!!!! I had the same issue with my set of Chatterbox cheapies. So I upgraded to Edsets,,, same issue,,, so I called my sound techie,, they work with mics and speakers and amps all the time,, that's their job and he said I was stuck with it, that's the way mics are made. That's when I put my thinking cap on (didn't help a lot,,, found out a feller needs brains for one of them to work) and got to work. I took the foam cover off of the mic, cut a thin piece of foam (firm but not hard, it needs to absorb sound) and a piece of hard plastic (I used a lid from a spray can and used the proper sized socket and a hammer to make a nice round piece) to cover each side of the mic and then cut a very small hole in the business side of the mic. I then taped this all with foil tape to be more reflective, stuffed the whole issue back into the foam sock and then tried it out. It works much better. The whole idea for me was to eliminate as much ambient sound as possible and receive only the sound I wanted into the system. I did both mics and am now a happy camper. I think I could have even made the hole smaller,,, even half the size. In addition to this, you'll need to make sure that your mic is pointed directly to the sound source, in this case your mouth, and that the volume on the IC is turned down as low as possible,,, so start with nothing on the IC and then increase it to where it becomes usable, that's it!!!
  12. Welllllll did you get it??????????????????? right????
  13. Good to see you back here,,,, now ride that thing safe eh??? don't forget it takes up a lot more room on the road,, she a little wider me thinks.
  14. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow,, now it's bed time.
  15. I really don't know how anybody could make that mistake,,,,, but if you do it once,, please do it again sometime,,, it would make me feel a little bit better!!!
  16. Now pay attention to what's at hand and quit your typing,,, what you're doing will be requiring all of your attention to get it right!
  17. Now I heard it all,,,,, all winter long you were whining and complaining about the snow we were getting,,, and now that it's nice and warm and no snow, and where do you go?????? nuf of you, see if we even want you back:whistling:,,,, have a good time and stay warm.
  18. Had that happening to my 85,,,,, I considered it to be a build up of dirt and dust, and the stickiness provided by moisture. So I tried cleaning it, but nothing would touch it,,,, until I tried, as a last resort: carburetor cleaner. I thought the heck, I can't ride it this way so if the vinyl goes bad, it goes bad and I'll have to replace it. It's been 4 years and still no deterioration to the vinyl that I can see and after cleaning it about 4 times it doesn't seem to get sticky this year. Right after I use the cleaner I soak it with Pledge and I still get people looking at it and asking how old the vinyl is,,, so it looks good as well. Be sure to take the seat off the scoot before you do this,,,,, the paint doesn't react well with carb cleaner.
  19. Poor Al,, still has to wait for while,,, and ride pillion for a bit to 'complement' it all.
  20. Boy oh Boy oh Boy,,, bet it's going to be a boy,,,, or maybe a girl,,,, now you is getting real old,,,,,,, wow, GRAND PARENTS, and you can spoil spoil and spoil some more,,,,Congrats and hope for you all that everything turns out well.
  21. Just my opinion,,, but if you don't check these areas at least 4 times a day or have someone man them,,,,,, it would be a rats nest and sh*t hole in a matter of 24 hours. The reason rest stops are a clean as they are, is because there is someone to clean things up,,,, not the reason that people don't make it dirty.
  22. Glad Gunk and Beth were there to look after you two. Now according to Gunk there was something pushing him to your place,,,,, glad he paid attention. And OH hurry up and get better!!!!!
  23. I'd say go for it Don,,, looks like something that could be developed for the Venture Set.
  24. Wow Dan,,, where did Gary find that picture of ya,,,,, you did change a bit,,,, don't know if it's for the better though.
  25. When you have a bright light like that, anything will blend with it at a distance if in close proximity. What you need to do to make them more visible is to move them away from the headlight,,,, but that would change the look, maybe not what you are looking for,,, but does give oncoming traffic and better take on your profile.
