  1. Had that happening to my 85,,,,, I considered it to be a build up of dirt and dust, and the stickiness provided by moisture. So I tried cleaning it, but nothing would touch it,,,, until I tried, as a last resort: carburetor cleaner. I thought the heck, I can't ride it this way so if the vinyl goes bad, it goes bad and I'll have to replace it. It's been 4 years and still no deterioration to the vinyl that I can see and after cleaning it about 4 times it doesn't seem to get sticky this year. Right after I use the cleaner I soak it with Pledge and I still get people looking at it and asking how old the vinyl is,,, so it looks good as well. Be sure to take the seat off the scoot before you do this,,,,, the paint doesn't react well with carb cleaner.
  2. Poor Al,, still has to wait for while,,, and ride pillion for a bit to 'complement' it all.
  3. Boy oh Boy oh Boy,,, bet it's going to be a boy,,,, or maybe a girl,,,, now you is getting real old,,,,,,, wow, GRAND PARENTS, and you can spoil spoil and spoil some more,,,,Congrats and hope for you all that everything turns out well.
  4. Just my opinion,,, but if you don't check these areas at least 4 times a day or have someone man them,,,,,, it would be a rats nest and sh*t hole in a matter of 24 hours. The reason rest stops are a clean as they are, is because there is someone to clean things up,,,, not the reason that people don't make it dirty.
  5. Glad Gunk and Beth were there to look after you two. Now according to Gunk there was something pushing him to your place,,,,, glad he paid attention. And OH hurry up and get better!!!!!
  6. I'd say go for it Don,,, looks like something that could be developed for the Venture Set.
  7. Wow Dan,,, where did Gary find that picture of ya,,,,, you did change a bit,,,, don't know if it's for the better though.
  8. When you have a bright light like that, anything will blend with it at a distance if in close proximity. What you need to do to make them more visible is to move them away from the headlight,,,, but that would change the look, maybe not what you are looking for,,, but does give oncoming traffic and better take on your profile.
  9. I was hoping to report that Al and Annie got on the plane for Portland safe and sound, but we ended up dropping them off on the driveway,, so to speak, and didn't actually see them take off (this made for a much shorter walk for Annie),,,,, but now that they are safely in Portland,,, I can tell you that they made safely onto the plane for Portland. Boy, I can almost hear the pipes already!!!!!! So now who's keeping an eye on those two???
  10. Just make sure you are the one taking the pictures, and out of the sight line of the camera,,, otherwise we may have to delete this thread.
  11. When I ride my 1st gen, I occasionally get tingling hands,, mostly just on the right. I find that relaxing my grip on the throttle helps big time,,, hence I have the throttle rocker. I could also lower my handle bars, (another reason to have a 1st gen), which I did,,,, and now the only time I tingle is when,,,,,,,, I can't remember that part anymore!!!1
  12. Plan on going to see Midicat in St Catherines next week,,, he says he'll have ice cream and coffee ready,,,,,
  13. Sure glad it wasn't any worse, and that you walked away,,,,, there has to be something for gratitude though,,,, maybe thank your special angel for being there.
  14. Good to have you along,,, see you next week.
  15. OOOOHHHHh it looks to me like she is going to like that just fine,,,, so fine that more safety chrome will be a necessity,,,, chrome so large it won't fit on the scooter and she'll be needing something a little larger..Huuuummmm?
  16. We're 'watching' the progress,,,,,, course nothing really happens until we see some pictures,,,,, I really don't know who started that rule, but we will have to uphold it!!!!!
  17. Ya and watch out for their shipping cost,,,,, that would have cost you another $39.00 if you live in Canada.
  18. Looks a lot like my situation about 6 years ago,,, now I can leave home without her. And oh,, the dress,,,as important on the drive way as it is on any road. A bug hitting at 50 kph hurts maybe worse than at 100,,,, and if it goes over,,,,, well 10 kph ain't slow enough to prevent damage.
  19. Been on a water bed now for about 30 years,,,, won't trade it for nothing, even after it sprung a leak and dumped all over the kitchen and everything below. Good thing we had a dirt\sand basement at the time. We've had a couple of leaks, but that was mostly self inflicted. They do say to change them out every 20 years or so.
  20. A rebuild kit is $23.08 from Parts Shark. http://www.partshark.com/fiche_section_detail.asp
  21. We're riding tonight,,, probably to Erin,,, good ice-cream stop there,,and I need need some parts and the guy is nice enough to go out to his shop to help me out,,, so I think that's what we'll do. July 06 2011
  22. Our thoughts and prayers go with you,,,, get well soon,,,,, God Bless.
  23. A request is on it's way,,,, God Bless. Carl
  24. True enough at night,,, when you are going to make a turn, you should have your low beams on anyways,,,, but a lot of us use them during the daytime, so cagers can see us better and maybe take a bit more notice of us,,, and that's what I was thinking of.
  25. All looks real interesting,,, only comment I got is the location of the driving lights, right above the signal lights,,,,, it's kind of renders the signal lights useless, others won't be able to see them with the driving light on..... JMHO Carl
