Fallen Gears when I removed the cover.
Marcarl replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Make it easy on yourself,,, go out and buy a 4 liter of good quality diesel oil,,, works for the diesels, so should be just fine in our scooters. Mine runs on it and it's got 140,000k on it,,,, the only problem it has it the thingy on top of the seat. -
I just don't like the ad,,,, something isn't right.

Just to let you all know that Marca's dad passed on to glory very peacefully yesterday at 9pm. He now no longer has any pain, or sorrow, and he is able to walk again for a change. He was 84 and looking forward to the trip. Yes there were tears,,,, but along with that,,,,, lots of JOY. Looking forward to today, we're getting together with the kids and a lot of the grandkids, just to remember and to celebrate, and to plan the next few days. Carl

Been there, done that, but thanks anyways. So seeing as you are from before the 80's are you beyond repair ?

Thanks Guys,,, I thought it to be junk,,,, after all this,,,, it is junk,,,,, well maybe kijiji,,,, some people think these saws are the greatest things made since the Venture, and I would not be want to be held responsible for throwing out somebody else's treasure.

I think it's time that we get doing our WINTER things,,, Don has a waaaaay tooo much time on his hands. Where's Big Tom and the rest of the trouble makers.
-
Make sure you push them off with a screwdriver, don't try to pull them, they'll just get tighter. As Eck said, use a hair dryer to warm them, and then push on the end of the hose to remove with a flat screw driver.

Is it -20F or is your original post correct at 20F

Just decommissioned the decompression valve, so now I get 80 lbs on the 3rd pull, but only 30lbs on the 1st pull.
-
Pretty hard to tell,, was on my mind as well, but then when I take the starter cover off it is closed. Ive checked it for seating and chips, and it looks real good.
-
Normally it opens as you pull the cord, other wise it's bound to kick pretty hard. So I pulled 3 times to get 60 lbs, which I figure with the valve open is not so bad,,, but then, I'm not familiar with this saw.

I've got this Farmsaw, built by Pioneer in Peterborough ONT, somewhere around the early 80's. I really don't need it, but I thought to clean it up, get it running and then sell. It's the orange one, not the yellow model. SO here's the issue. When I got it, it wouldn't turn over, but with a little persuasion that happened. It doesn't fire or even bark. It has spark and a new plug. The timing is right on. I cleaned the carb, and it gets fuel. Get about 60 lbs compression on 3rd pull, 25 on 1st pull. Decompression valve works. I tried to inject some ether,, I know, that's bad, but it won't bark on that either. I'm out of ideas, so now it's up to you guys.

Hey, it's a '93,,, that's old for any truck,,, it's going to creak and groan,,,,, now because it's cold, and 20F isn't all that cold, there will be ice here and there that will make weird sounds for a bit when first starting out, but that should disappear very shortly. The boots on this machine might not like the cold so well either, but they will get used to it. If you have the coolant in good shape, and the use 10w30 or 5w30, you should be just fine at those temp.

That would make a man wonder if Someone is knocking on his door,,,, sure makes you think of how short our time can be,,,,, one minute we're ok and just fine thank you very much, and the next we're in a different land altogether. Best be prepared for the last trip at all times. Hey, I am glad he's ok and looking forward to some more living here on earth.

Looking for a Blessing
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.

We have 6 kids,,,,, well they are all grown up now, so not kids any longer, but we call them our kids still. Our oldest just turned 40 this year, and has 5 kids of their own. Dorothea and Dean have made great parents, are well involved in community and church life and live in a modest bungalow in Limehouse Ont. Dean works for a local contractor and Dorothea home schools the kids, up to grade 11, and works as secretary at her church. They are an awesome family. Just last week I got a call from Dorothea saying that she had just come back from the doctors and tests etc, and she was informed that she has cancer on her one kidneys and it needs to be removed, which they will do ASAP as soon as she gets rid of the pneumonia that she has as well,,, so it looks like the 1st of Feb. Doctor says it's all contained and that no chemo or radiation will be needed. The Blessing that comes with this already is her statement that: No dad, I'm not worried or concerned. I have pain and I'm tired most of the time and I want to get up and do my usual things, but worried I'm not,,,, you see dad, I was taught that every cloud has a silver lining and I'm sure this one will as well, we just have to wait to see what that might be. And it's no matter, if I have to leave this world,,, ya it's not my game plan,,,, but if that's to be, then our Master will bring good out of that as well.. What a girl!!!!!! But we could use some prayers for healing for her. With the oldest being 17 and the youngest 10, I'm thinking they could use a good momma for a while yet. And Dean still needs some direction as well....lol! If you want to email her: Dorothea Vuyk

If you are loosing air that bad, chances are that there is\was moisture in the solenoids and that the seal seats are now corroded and so let air out. If you don't look after the silica gel every other year this will happen. For the gel, carefully take it out of the canister, lay it on a plate, cover with a cloth and nuke for about 2 minutes. It should now be blue and ready to use again, just like new. For the solenoid, take them apart, two screws holding each one on, and there are three, clean them and look down inside the cylinder. You'll see where the rubber seat sets. You should see nice smooth aluminum, but more than likely you'll find a bit of corrosion. Get yourself a 6 inch piece of wood doweling, wind some steel wool around the one end and hold it in place with a piece of black tape. Insert the other end into a drill and now you can polish the seat back to new again. Careful as you take the unit apart as there are small springs inside that seat the seal. Once it's all cleaned, blow it out with air and put it back together,,,, no lube required.

Congrats to you two,, enjoy to the fullest, soon enough they'll be after the inheritance, so spend it on them now while YOU can enjoy it. Call her Shorty for short,,, after all she doesn't come from a long (tall) line, does she?

I guess it's all part of the growing up process,,,,, ya, you do want her to grow up, and be smart, and a good citizen. Sometimes the Great Shepherd has other ideas and those ideas are usually right on,,,, not saying there is anything wrong with your grandparenting, or that there is something amiss in your area, but it seems that He has decided that the three of them need to have a different input into their lives at the moment. So I would say, leave it in His hands and all will be well. Just wait to see how He will guide things for the better,,,,,, for them.

Looking back at the thread and the posts, it looks like I did,,,,, just don't know how I did IT,,,,,, strange things are happening. Sorry guys, I didn't mean to upset ya'll.

Thank you, you must be a very good judge of youthfulness. I am tooo used to doing that, seeing as I was with some one last Saturday evening that I had to repeat myself. Sign of old age that is, not hearing so good anymore.

Marca said she couldn't find back, so she's happy,,, she said that on closer inspection she noticed it wasn't me anyways,,, says I'm much better than the picture,,, go figure. But thanks for your caring and response.
