You might have Yammer ride on his own bike for a change!!!
-
Slow and fast has a lot to do with the rider. Often times we 1st genners have to drag our feet so those following can keep up, after all, we can only go soo slow, but it still depends on the rider.
-
Got to get your feet up on the pegs and quit dragging them,,, don't worry about Dan, he can catch up later.

Good to hear Jeff, wish him well for us. -
No purchase necessary, to me, indicates, I know it doesn't say, but indicates that I don't have to buy anything, but can just walk right in a get an entry. Really, I think you should have to buy something, but that is not the rules the government puts before these people, so this is the way around it, don't blame the merchant, blame the government and all the stupid rules they manage to come up with. As far as advertizing is concerned today,,, the monkeys are getting smarter by the hour and say just enough or not enough to get us to buy, without making any wild promises. It's all in the grammar, often times it's not what is said, but what we think was said or what wasn'r said. Time will come when advertizing will become absolutely useless.

ESPECIALLY LOOK AT SCENE THREE... Be sure to read Scene 3. Quite interesting. This is a new one. People sure stay busy trying to cheat us, don't they? SCENE 1. A friend went to the local gym and placed his belongings in the locker. After the workout and a shower, he came out, saw the locker open, and thought to himself, 'Funny, I thought I locked the locker... Hmm, 'He dressed and just flipped the wallet to make sure all was in order. Everything looked okay - all cards were in place... A few weeks later his credit card bill came - a whooping bill of $14,000! He called the credit card company and started yelling at them, saying that he did not make the transactions. Customer care personnel verified that there was no mistake in the system and asked if his card had been stolen... 'No,' he said, but then took out his wallet, pulled out the credit card, and yep - you guessed it - a switch had been made. An expired similar credit card from the same bank was in the wallet. The thief broke into his locker at the gym and switched cards. Verdict:The credit card issuer said since he did not report the card missing earlier, he would have to pay the amount owed to them. How much did he have to pay for items he did not buy? $9,000! Why were there no calls made to verify the amount swiped? Small amounts rarely trigger a 'warning bell' with some credit card companies. It just so happens that all the small amounts added up to big one! SCENE 2. A man at a local restaurant paid for his meal with his credit card. The bill for the meal came, he signed it and the waitress folded the receipt and passed the credit card along. Usually, he would just take it and place it in his wallet or pocket. Funny enough, though, he actually took a look at the card and, lo and behold, it was the expired card of another person. He called the waitress and she looked perplexed. She took it back, apologized, and hurried back to the counter under the watchful eye of the man. All the waitress did while walking to the counter was wave the wrong expired card to the counter cashier, and the counter cashier immediately looked down and took out the real card. No exchange of words --- nothing! She took it and came back to the man with an apology.. Verdict: Make sure the credit cards in your wallet are yours. Check the name on the card every time you sign for something and/or the card is taken away for even a short period of time. Many people just take back the credit card without even looking at it, 'assuming' that it has to be theirs. FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, DEVELOP THE HABIT OF CHECKING YOUR CREDIT CARD EACH TIME IT IS RETURNED TO YOU AFTER A TRANSACTION! ========================== SCENE 3: Yesterday I went into a pizza restaurant to pick up an order that I had called in. I paid by using my Visa Check Card which, of course, is linked directly to my checking Account. The young man behind the counter took my card, swiped it, then laid it on the counter as he waited for the approval, which is pretty standard procedure. While he waited, he picked up his cell phone and started dialing. I noticed the phone because it is the same model I have, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Then I heard a click that sounded like my phone sounds when I take a picture. He then gave me back my card but kept the phone in his hand as if he was still pressing buttons. Meanwhile, I'm thinking: I wonder what he is taking a picture of, oblivious to what was really going on. It then dawned on me: the only thing there was my credit card, so now I'm paying close attention to what he is doing.. He set his phone on the counter, leaving it open. About five seconds later, I heard the chime that tells you that the picture has been saved. Now I'm standing there struggling with the fact that this boy just took a picture of my credit card. Yes, he played it off well, because had we not had the same kind of phone, I probably would never have known what happened. Needless to say, I immediately cancelled that card as I was walking out of the pizza parlor. All I am saying is, be aware of your surroundings at all times. Whenever you are using your credit card take caution and don't be careless. Notice who is standing near you and what they are doing when you use your card. Be aware of phones, because many have a camera phone these days. FORWARD THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN THINK OF. LET'S GET THE WORD OUT. JUST BE AWARE! Never let your card out of your sight.....check and check again!

Help,fork seal problems
Marcarl replied to Plains Venture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Often times we will destroy the seal when we slide it over the groove at the top of the fork. You may also find a nick there, created when you used a tool to remove the spring ring. Use some black tape over that groove before you install the seal whether you find a nick or not. -
Don't know if I mentioned this before,,, but if I were to redo my shop, I would run the hydro on the inside surface of the wall, so as I could make changes a whole lot easier in the future.

Check it out with Rick Butler,,, member here. -
Ya there is always more than one way to skin a cat,,,, good for the local folks for thinking that one up,,,, I'd say it was a tit before tat.

The tank was rusty, very rusty, cleaned that up and the carb again. It's the electrical I'm wondering about. I know it sparks at times, sometimes stronger, sometimes not so good. How does one tell if the magneto is working up to snuff?

clutch sight glass leaking!
Marcarl replied to alvald83's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There is a glue some guys have used to fix this, I can't remember the name of it right now, but you will have to remove the sight glass to do it properly. If you have Seal All in your stores, that will do the job, and quickly. -
Timing is right on. Yes I have got spark, but wonder if it is strong enough, so it's got me wondering on the strength of the magneto Yep, that all seems to work proper.

Magnets are bolt located, so no movement possible,,,, but, can they be put in backwards? Best explain the procedure on this, I have a dwell meter, and this is a kicker only.

Here's my problem,,, I know, I got lots but this one has me stumped. My son bought a 82 Honda XL80s for my grandson. It was running and they did run it around the back yard a few times, but then it quit. So dad to the rescue. I've been working on this thing for 4 weeks now, and it just won't run, not even give me a burp. That said, I did have it running at one point, but the slowest it would go was about 3000 rpm, so I shut it down and since then, nothing. History. When I brought it to my garage I found the stator flywheel loose and the key sheared off. replaced the key, points, condenser, cleaned the flywheel, (took all magnets out and re-glued them) cleaned the carb, tried 3 different coils, but seem to get an inconsistent spark at best. Got about 90 lbs compression with 3 kicks on the starter, 120lbs with a shot of oil in the cylinder. Tried WD 40 to help it fire and then even some ether, but no fire period. I need some fresh ideas.

'83 Brake system work - Milky Fluid?
Marcarl replied to alvald83's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
All in all, the more you do yourself, the better you understand your machine. If you had done all this work yourself, you would have had a whole new tool set, stainless lines and money left over for some more safety chrome. -
Stator problem? Maybe?
Marcarl replied to Dave77459's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Before I would do anything and make any decisions, I would clean and dielectric grease all the connectors from the stator and rectifier, as well as the ignition connectors and the battery terminals and ground on the engine. Then I would go searching if the problems persisted. You need to start at square one so to speak. -
You just never know when something like this might happen. Feller maybe should make a cart, just in case,,,, 'Oak' street might be a bit far and he could get a little tired dragging her all that way.
