  1. Talk about patience! 1200+ hours. I guess the music covered up all the cuss words.
  2. Oh geeze,,, what have you done?
  3. A little entertainment, no bull. Oh, guess I should look again. Hey, I'm not a farmer. http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/lXKDu6cdXLI?rel=0
  4. Jack, Nice talking this morning. Hope that solved the major problem. If you are on IE7, yeah, may as well go to IE8. Not much difference but will probably be more compatible with sites. It will ask you a bunch of start-up preferences. I think I said no to most,, and stayed with previous search preference (Google). Mike G
  5. Like SilverT is pointing,,,,, software? I use IE8 and soon after I got ATT U-verse I was getting bogged on most anything on the Internet. For some other reason, I did an IE reset and my problems stopped. (always do a RESTORE point before any change) To RESET IE8: The panel is same as your tools - Internet options, but get to it from your control panel without IE running: Close your IE browser, then: START CONTROL PANEL INTERNET OPTIONS ADVANCED TAB down near the bottom RESET there may be another screen, like OK. This is used when IE goes bogus on you. It may loose cookies and "fill in's". It basically sets IE8 back to new user. It fixed my particular (similar) issue. No cost is nice. Mike G in SC
  6. I don't have my bike infront of me. But I'm thinking that's not intake, that's the trumpets. (The two black spaces on the bottom left of the picture.) Don't want a silent horn! http://www.bikerhiway.com/images/large/stebel/snh-03_LRG.jpg
  7. Ruffy's right on STARTRON. I use Seafoam all the time, love it, perks up salads. But for winter storage (I read about that), use STARTRON. Get it several places now, in WalMart it's in the boat section with the marine oils. Seafoam is made to burn. Startron is made to stabilize the gas and kick butt on the ethanol they feed us. I used Startron in lawn mower gas for my brother's estate. Kept it good for most of a year. And, yes, when you put it in the tank, be sure to run it into the carbs. Mike G
  8. Congrats on getting back to full time (and more money). But, know what you mean about being treated to some time off. My company went through a tough year, two years ago (better now). We did furlough weeks, one a month. But we did get up to 10 weeks unemployment in the year to buffer it. At first it was "ohoh",,, but buy the 3rd week out it was "pick me!". Wouldn't mind if they would offer that as an option. That was kind of like getting 13 weeks vacation. I was busy tending my brother's estate so it was not ride, ride, ride as much as I hoped. But it was enough to "taste" retirement. I'm 61. If it weren't for medical,,, bet a lot of us wouldn't wait till 65!
  9. Rich, I went back and read several of your posts before you bought the Vmax rear end. You were comfortable with 50 mph in 5th gear, where most were not. You also had a rear whine you wanted to loose. So, now that you swapped the Royal rear end for Vmax, what do you have at 4th and 5th? Same question for Freebird (VGoose too). I'm interested in the Vmax rear end idea but I do enjoy pushing the gears the way a Royal can. But of course the Royals are not geared for the Dragon. I rarely go to 5th on two lane. Don, you have had the mod for years. What are your gearing habits? I have a RSTD for solo/commute and a RSV for two up and trips. Which bike would benefit most with the Vmax rear if I did one? And Rich, did you get rid of the rear whine? Thanks, Mike G
  10. Ben, A friend sent me the onion article a while back. Might look it up on Snopes.com: http://www.snopes.com/medical/swineflu/onion.asp And Snopes also has a related page on the cut onion/Mayo: http://www.snopes.com/food/tainted/cutonions.asp Mike G
  11. Bob, I just measrued my RSV & RSTD. Both travel very close to 1/2". A few weeks back my RSV choke started pulling it's self back in after I started the bike. Almost felt like a spring was pulling it. I got some carb cleaner spray and sprayed down all pivot points, from both sides of the engine. Cleared it up right then. Mike G in SC
  12. Jim, Your bike signal lights are quite bright (for brake and turn). The one on the sidecar was not as obvious (is it LED?). Not required, but I think it did not blink for right turn (but of course the one on the bike does,,, but now that's in the middle of the mass). My observation was: Your bike rear signal lights are bright LED for brake & turn, not "run". Your bike tail light is brake/run, not as bright as the signal LEDs. The sidecar light is brake (as it was daytime, not sure if it was "run" but assume it runs off the bike tail light), not turn. But I wasn't writing this stuff down, so I might be overthinking it today. But I do remember what I had for lunch yesterday,,, oh, and don't eat at the Chinese place in Maiden. Mike G
  13. Jim and ya'll, The bike and side car look great. I followed Jim for about 6 miles of back road and 20 miles of interstate. It tracks great from what I could see. Did good on bumps on the 2 lane. Didn't appear to lack power. Might brighten up the tail light (run/brake/turn LED) when you can. Looks good, Jim. Let me know when you put on the Kumho. Wish I had put my point & shoot camera in my windshield bag, would have got a video for you. Mike G
  14. I'll see you Tuesday at Mean City Cycles,,, with the Kumho spare. You bringing the sidecar to tote it back? Love to see it. Mike G
  15. This cougar? Oh, and the blond,,,, Farrah Fawcett. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofaCGy-wVV0]TV Commercial Mercury Cougar 1975 - YouTube[/ame]
  16. Hey, pretty sure that lead bike is a Road Liner,, see the tank! http://www.go-faster.com/SS100/lake%20constance%20001.jpg
  17. Instead, I buy Cocoon's over glasses. Both sunglass and clear for night. They are much more solid than the Walgreens version (which the arms break). Find them in Bass Pro shops or go on line to Amazon, Sunglass Giant or Cocoons. You can buy "overs" that neatly fit over your glasses or buy bigger for more of a goggle. (I bought the wide-mid for sunglasses and the pilot for clear at night.) Just a thought, they're about $45.
  18. Shawn,, Sounds like the perfect deal. Maintained and the good price! Now,, you need to get in some good miles before your NY looses "riding season". (SC riders have read about that!) Congrats, Mike G
  19. A couple that used to ride with us,, the girl was 4'9" and she rode a Ridley Speedster. It's a 3/4 sized cruiser. It would go through the belt in 1000 miles. But it would do the speed, 70+.. We'd let her be ride leader. As people passed us on the interstate we got a whole lot of double takes and "look at that" as they rode by. It ended up really problem prone. When Ridley was at Myrtle Beach, they took it back west and sold it for her. But I swear it looked like a circus bear should be riding it,,,, 3/4 sized bike. Cute.
  20. I would look for one with more miles, it ain't broke in yet! Actually, those miles are very low. So, could still have original 10 year old tires on it. If so, you would want to replace them regardless of tread. Even if not original find out how long they've been on the bike. Same for oil (engine and rear), how long have they been in there (not miles, time)? As you are in NY (is the bike too?) the oil could have season wear without miles. As far as price for the year (and low miles), sounds good to me for that money,,,, if it's in decent shape. So offer $5800 and see where it goes. But, if you have ridden it and like it, don't hold out too much, else it will get sold.
  21. Below is my from post on STAR Touring in a recent discussion on air horns. Remember when "It's imported" was exotic, not cheap? *************************************************************** I'm thinking the Stebel is made in Italy and the Bad Boy is made in China,,,, Hey, both are "imported"! My mom would say "it's imported,,,, it says 'China' " and then me give a smurk. China can make good stuff,,, if you pay them for quality. But,, manufacturers usually don't go to China for quality. They go there for legal knock-off's. My company makes V-belts. We make a quality belt for, say $4, sell it to the OEM service group for $4.50, they sell it to a Big Box Store for $12 and they sell it to you for $24. Well, we can buy the "same" belt from China for under a dollar. It does not have quality and will have a short life (and smells like cat pee) but the store will still sell you the belt for same $24. Can get even cheaper and worse from India. Sorry, that got off track from horns,,. I will agree, they are look alikes but I don't think manufactured by same OEM or country. Mike G.************************************************************* But in the '80s, I worked for Blue Channel, the major Blue Crab canner in the US. High quality, great tasting canned crab, biggest producer in the US. Well, Tiwan canned crab meat came on the market and within a few years, we were also buying it ourselves and selling two lines, Atlantic and Pacific to stay in the market. Well, fast forward a few more years and we were out of business,, could not compete. Similar to what my current employer is dealing with today. I don't politic it,,,, it's business. I try to buy the better quality product, and it will probably be "one of ours". Mike G
