Last time I had one similar to that (on the rear, in the groove) I used the gooey rope plug from an auto parts or Wal-Mart. Just to make myself a bit more confident, I put in a bottle of Green Slime. The tire was just fine till it wore out.

You may already be aware of the Pure Gas web site, if not, take a visit. Like Gas Buddy (for gas prices), it is user updated. So, you can go on the web site and update for your station(s). http://pure-gas.org/ Mike G

Too funny. If I had seen the rig in a parking lot without a cooler on it,,, I would have to wait for the owner to see what he had in mind! It would also work for your buddy who is too proud to ride on the rear seat. Just put a short ski rope to hold on to. He should wear a helmet,, and say "Watch this!".

Front Brake question...
Mike G in SC replied to 2007royalmidnight's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I might be wondering if your front tire is over inflated? (like 45+) That could make it a bit more sensitive to the road or parking lot surface, and explain why one time it's left and then right. If it is high, test it at 38-39 to see if that goes away. Just a simple thought. Mike G. -
In Forrest Gump,,,, seems like he bought stock in some apple company? Anyhow, it's just a phase,,, don't worry. He legally has till he's 26 now to grow out of it. When your first grandson is named Mac,,, then you worry. Signed,, I-Dad

I like Frogg Toggs, got a couple of pair. One word,,, comfort. But they are made to last one season as far as my expreriences go. I still have them but they have tears and burn holes. (I bring them to rainy club rides in case someone else forgets.) Two years ago I bought a set of First Gear rain jacket and pants. Don't remember the model but they were around $100 with discount from Cycle Gear. Wore them today in fact. These will last and are comfortable. Bright YELLOW jacket is nice. But the jacket is a bit more sweatty than the Frogg Toggs. Again the Frogg Toggs are comfortable but short life. Mike G

Hey THANKS. I just put a $9.99 bottle back on the shelf at one of the box stores yesterday. And Walmart was $8.97. NAPA web site confirms your $6.48 price, yep time to stock up. (But they don't sell/ship on-line, pick up at the store. Looks like you can pre-order at your selected store if you want.) http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Result.aspx?Ntt=SF16&Ntk=Keyword&Nty=1&Dn=0&D=SF16&Dk=1&Dp=3&N=0 Mike G in SC

NO,,,, How about advertising on Craigslist with YOUR phone number. I'm a part timer on this forum,,,,and, we don't know each other,, so I'm unbiased to your spouse. If you don't ride this bike yourself, you need to do one of those Craigslist ads that has a picture of the bike and then asks for a mocho guy to ride it. Kind of like the old joke that says "wanted,,, send a picture of boat". My wife is understanding,, you can ride on the back of my bike anytime you get near SC. I try to stay out of Ohio,,,, Mocho,,, eh,,, but I do have a Venture and a RSTD in my garage,,, that's what really counts! Just funning,,,,, Mike G. PS: I'll do most anything for a case of Skyline Chili!

Rutman, SO,,, you find the best deal I have seen in a year and a half on a RSV and the conversation turns into what to do about the cassette. So, are you pursuing the bike or just curious? If I was looking,(but I got one) I'd be bugging you about where this bike is. I'm about 100 miles south if you got questions. If you don't plan on buying, might let the readers here know how to find the bike. Cause that's a good price. Spartanburg area? Mike G in (Lugoff) SC

Oh,,, Geeze. 2008 posts,,, by now this guy has been through a couple of bikes. So,,, Texas Venture,, doing the Rip Van Winkle thing? Thanks Keemez,, I'll keep a better eye on it. LOL. Mike G in SC

Keith,, Slow down, take your time, spend a few weeks looking for a DEAL. Some guy in Spartanburg has a line on a 2009 for,,, he says $9k or less. That is a DEAL. Might see what he is looking at, cause he is just tire kicking. (look for some link for "2009" Anyhow, don't burn a hole in your pocket, take a breath and look for a good deal. You now know you want a Venture (or RSTD). I'm proof, you can get a very good deal if you don't let it overwhelm you. Mike G in SC

I have a friend who was a Voyager fan from the earlier models. He bought the new one when it came out. Don't misunderstand me but this friend boasts,,,, alot,,, kinda Pecos Bill type. What I noticed when he had it was ,,,, nothing. He didn't spend his time about how great it was,,,,,. That was a lot not said. Later, it got T-boned, totaled. When everything was settled,, he headed Harley. Never mentioned the Voyager much after that. What I saw of the broke bike reminded me of the "Crash-Mobile" toys from the 1960's. When the car hit an object,,, all the body pannels sprung off it. (Anyone remember that toy car,,, loved it.) So, I don't think he felt it measured up to the old Voyagers he had before. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YG9OM4nlPhA/SqH9iHK1HbI/AAAAAAAABPA/-zKJUA4yeSU/s400/crashmobile.jpg

Let me be the first to say BUY IT,,, that's a steal!!! Serious, most people would be looking more like $12k for that. Ok, now with that out of the way, dealer, or individual? Good shape, have you seen it, have you ridden it? Get the VIN, go to a Yamaha dealer you trust and ask them to look up the warrenty maintenance record. How do the tires look? At 25k, it probably has 2nd set on. The rear may be at about 10K, but the front is probably okay. But as far as price,,, that's really a GOOD price, you will not find better for a 2009, with an engine. Mike G

Honest advice needed

Buy the plexiglass lower vents. Look on line at Yamaha Cocumonga or Stadium Yamaha in Dallas area (or take that price to your local dealer, mine matched it). Anyhow, they can keep you warmer in winter and deflect the heat out in warmer days. See link, List $200, below for $156 +ship(?). http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/pages/Catalog/Product/3664?categoryID=207&subCategoryID=407&catalogFilter1ID=1&catalogFilter2ID=4&catalogFilter3ID=90&catalogFilter4ID=68&catalogFilter5ID=63350 -

My FAVORITE BIKE! His price is too high. -
Jeff, Warranty,, GREAT! So, find out if this problem has ever been addressed on your new bike. The dealer should be able to give you a print out of the warranty repair record. This is now your bike so he should have nothing to hide there. Don't take the "known problem" approach as the solution. Probably 50%+ have been replaced under warranty, so Yamaha will indeed allow it. If there was nothing to fix,, that would not have happened. As it is under warranty, any factory Yamaha dealer can do the work. Ask this forum bunch "Who is the best dealer in my area?" I have two dealers within 50 miles of me,,, big difference in attitude. My best dealer (Sumter SC, Extreem Sports) readily does warranty work. Often they have noticed something and told me about it and have already ordered the parts before I knew about it. So, because of him, I don't comprehend dealers avoiding warranty work,,, they get paid. Don't let this slip past the warranty. Good luck, Mike G
-
Warranty? If yes then you have recourse. If no, then you probably don't. Either way, any Yamaha dealer can check the warranty service record with the VIN. They can tell if this was ever "corrected". You should ask to see the bike history anyhow. If still under warranty, and it has never been done, have them change out the I-basket under warranty. If they don't,,,, find another dealer who does not rest on their old name laurels. Seems like someone on this forum said they made the dealer swap backets several times under warranty.

Trouble getting triple tree back on
Mike G in SC replied to CantWin1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When everything is loose, you can turn the tubes the 45 degrees,,, but this is where we had to take the wheel off to get the weight off. It is a struggle untill you hit the perfect angle. This is a point where two people are needed. Below are a couple of pictures of the right valve,,, turned 45 and also with an extension. I thank Bill Little for the job but also for providing me the valve extensions. He already had those on hand cause he did the same on his. EDIT: HEY SORRY ABOUT THE ANGLE OF THE PICTURES, MAY HAVE TO STAND ON YOUR HEAD AND LOOK LEFT! Mike G -

Not steeling the post, but you can go exactly 1.5". But you will also want to turn the schrader valves out 45 degrees and maybe add extension to that. (Can only get 1/2 to 3/4" for RSTD) Mike G in SC -

And,,,,, you probably already found out,,,,,, adjust you mirrors! LOL, I found that out. May need to raise the handlebars. Yeah, when we did mine last month, had to drop the front tire to get the weigh off it. Enjoy that new ride. Mike G in SC -
Well put! I buy on-line too,, but when I can and the price is not out of line I like to use my closest dealer. We have established a great relationship. He will usually match an internet price, and will always match if it is from any US Yamaha dealer (like Yamaha of Cucamonga and Stadium Yamaha in Dallas). So, if your local dealer is a good guy, keep them in mind.

Yes,,, in a word. Tonight, when I get home, I will post a link or two already on this forum. But I had a guy at Lake Norman, NC drop the front of my RSV last month. You got to know what you are doing,,, he does. If you drop the front 1" to 1 1/2" you will really like it,,, especially at 5'7",, promise. Look for a later post. Pretty sure F4 does not do a windshield for the RSTD (too bad,, I would have one now). I did get a Clearview a few years ago, with vent. I just use it during the winter. Kind of big and hot during the summer. Hey, that F4 on my RSV is the BEST EVER! Mike G
