  1. The Voyager is a nice looking bike. This was the first time I saw one up close. But as alot of people have said, it does seem "cheap looking"
  2. I went to the Cycle World Motorcycle Show yesterday in Minneapolis. The Victory display was packed, everyone was lining up to sit on several different colored and accessorized Cross Countrys. Then I went over to the Star display and saw one 2010 stock black Venture up against the wall and no one looking at it. Not much of an attempt to interest people in a new Venture. They have the parts laying around to release Ventures in several colors every year. So why don't they? I loved the 2000 red one, the 2003 two tone red/sand, etc. Harley offers several colors in all thier models, what a shame.
  3. I insure 3 bikes full coverage $100,000/$300,000/$50,000 with $500/$250 deductable for $400 a year. A 2007 Venture, 2008 Stratoliner S, and a 2008 Vstar 1100 Silverado with Foremost Ins. Try them.
  4. I stay at Best Westerns every chance I get. This deal is I'm sure no better than I get with AAA or AARP. Yes I'm over 50. Harley is the king of promotions, give them credit. But after 29 motorcycles, I've still never bought a Harley.
  5. It's 34 and raining here in north central Wi. Maybe it will clean the ice and salt of the roads and I can get in a short ride one of these days. Only going to be 20 next week.
  6. Looks like my bike. Pretty.
  7. Royal Stars are great bikes Randy, I know, I've had 5 of them. About 180,000 miles total on the 5 of them. No problems, just great riding. Better put the chrome air filters on, I have them on my blue/black 2007 Venture and they look great.
  8. I take it doesn't have the backrests. When did you buy it?
  9. That's one thing I've always liked about Harleys, beautiful paint jobs and lots of choices. I don't like that corbin fairing to much either. I am thinking of putting a fairing on my Stratoliner S and selling my Venture, but I'll probably keep both. I do love my Venture, and I've had 5 Royal Stars to prove it.
  10. I think you guys are wrong about the potential of the Stratoliner. I ride my 2007 Venture more than my 2008 Stratoliner because it is a full dresser. But at 75 mph the Stratoliner is just as smooth. Put the right gear on that bike, full fairing and trunk, and it would work well as a full dresser. And the power is much stronger. As far as the engine design, the roadstar engine that it came from has shown to last, on another site a fellow has over 200,000 miles on his.
  11. If you see my Venture on a trailer, call the police, it's been stolen.
  12. I have had 5 Royal Stars and all have gotten as you say. However I recently have been able to get in the high 40s. My secret is Shell Premium,(no ethenal) and riding with my wife. She decided this year she no longer wants to speed and I can only drive 2 or 3 miles over the speed limit when she follows me on her Stratoliner. However I figure if I put a speedo healer on her bike, and set it to read 5-7 mph low, I will be able to get back to normal.
  13. I believe I paid about $250 on my last Royal Star. Get a quote, they should be able to give you a ball park. I have been waiting to see the 2010 Venture to see if I want to trade, but I guess I will be getting the service.
  14. I have 24,000+ on my 2007 Venture, It's never seen a Servive Department. In northern Wisconsin we have good honest Yamaha Dealers. They will tell you right out there is no need to repack the bearings, you are better off waiting till they start to fail and replace them, all the money you paid was removing a fairing to repack steering head bearings. I have put over 56,000 miles on two of my five Royal Stars without any bearing problems. With unleaded gas spark plugs will last a lot longer then 16,000 miles. I'm on Royal Star number 5. The other 4 have new happy owners with lots of miles on them. I have always taken them in at 26,000 miles for plugs, carb sync, valve check. I change the fluids myself. Now if you want to talk about costly service, buy a Harley.

    New Tires

I put Elite IIIs on my 2007 Venture this spring, I have 9500 miles on them and the back tire has lots of tread left. I highly recommend them.
  16. I purchased a Triumph Bonneville a couple of years ago for a extra bike to occasionally ride. Triumph makes some great stuff, and from what I have experianced and heard, very good quality.
  17. I've always liked the Nomads. They always get great reviews in the magazines. I've turned into a Yamaha man lately. The Stratoliner S is the 29th bike I've purchased. My last Kawasaki was a 2006 Vulcan 2000 Classic LT. Talk about roll on power!
  18. I still will be riding my 2007 Venture most of the time. My wife will be driving the Stratoliner when we go together. I've had 5 Royal Stars and never had the "noise" you guys talk about.
  19. The new 1700 Nomad is nice, but I agree, I would have bought a leftover 2008 too. I almost did, but decided to go with a Stratoliner S.
  20. I had supper in the early 90s in Vicksburg, Miss with the owner of a Harley, and a Yamaha dealership in Beaumont Tx. I asked him what he rode, he said a Vmax.
  21. I bought a new 2002 Victory Touring Cruiser in Jan. of 2003. I put 31500 miles on it in less than 2 years and sold it to a buddy of mine. It performed flawless for me, and has for him. Thier quality is one of the highest in the industry. When I heard they were coming out with a full dresser I figured it was my next bike, I think I had my 2004 Venture at the time. I, as most people, won't buy one because of the looks.
  22. Just got my new Rider Magazine. Touring shootout this month between the Star Venture, Kawasaki Voyager, Victory Vision, and Harley Ultra. They picked the Voyager last, second to last the Vision, and tied for first place the Harley and the Venture. I guess the Venture isn't that long in the tooth. They did make fun of the tape deck.
  23. The Stratoliners are good bikes if you want just a windshield and small leather bags. I tried one out in 2006 but bought a Vulcan 2000 Classic LT instead because I liked the looks and price of the Vulcan better. I am riding a Venture again but do enjoy the feeling of a "minimal tourer". The Stratoliner and 2000 Vulcan both suffer from tire eating. 6000 miles on the back tire and 9000 on the front, and they are expensive tires. If you don't ride much that isn't a big deal, but at 15,000 a year like me it gets expensive and a pain.
  24. I'm wondering if these guys make the Yamaha kit? If they do the prices sure are alot cheaper.
  25. I drove my bike 50 miles to the dealer today. When I got there it wasn't making the noise. I then drove it 220 more miles the long way home. No more noise. One of the mysteries of life. Thanks for the help.
