I put the woodgrain kit from Yamaha on my 2004 Venture. It isn't that hard to do, but as was said earlier, take your time and get it on right, there's no second chance. I am thinking of putting it on my 2007 now. I am curious how they hold up. If Allan Hildebrandt is out there, hows that 2004 look? ( he has my 2004 )

I changed the oil and then took a 2200 mile trip last week to the Smokey Mts and back. It has been warm and the oil has about 2400 on it now, I usually change it about every 4000 miles, three times a year, 10w-40 Valvoline Motorcycle Oil. I've had 5 Royal Stars and never noticed this noise before.

My 2007 Venture with 18,000 miles has developed a strange noise. Sounds like its coming from the motor. Not very loud. 5 or 6 times then quite, and then 5 or 6 times then quite, etc. The noise is a lite knock. Clutch in or out. When I raise the idle speed it's hard to hear, but I don't know if it's gone. At first I thought maybe a fuel pump noise, half clogged filter? I going to take it to a Dealer tomorrow, but I thought maybe someone else has had this.

I cannot see any differance in width by looking. A buddy of mine also just put a set on, he had a front end shimmy problem and it went away with the new Elite IIIs. (he had stock Bridgestones)
-
I have the Elite IIIs on my 2007 Venture, so far the mileage looks great, and the ride and handling are great. I highly recommend them.

OK, please let me be Mister Negative.... I bought a 2007 Venture not because it was cheaper than a Harley, because it's better.

The only things I want, and I will be buying something this year, a dash with full gauges, new wheels like they put on the Roadstar, narrow white wall tires, fuel injection, and yes I would like a CD in the dash too. Chrome forks and controls like the midnights would be nice too.

I started riding motorcycles in the 60's. At that time motorcycles were not welcome someplaces. This went on into the 70's. I remember stoping at motels with my wife on our bike, ( a Suzuki or Honda with quite pipes ), and I could not get a room. I was even turned away from a gas station once. Motels etc remember the bad few, not the majority that are responsible. When you stage a parade that stops traffic for what seems like forever, when you can't eat at a resturant because of all the visitors, the ralleys become unwanted. And yes, load pipes are a major factor. Tomahawk is questioning if there fall ride sould continue.
-
I lived in Tomahawk Wisconsin area for a few years. They have a Fall Ride every year that draws several thousand mostly HD Riders. All I can say is I know why MB doesn't want several thousand half drunk motorcyclists with load pipes.

I was wondering where my wife was getting all the wallets.

I had Progressive and they steadily raised my rates. Switched to Geico last year, this years renewal rate is higher. Now I'm changing to Formost thru AARP. It doesn't pay to stay with the same company.

At the risk of stiring the pot, is this bike still under warranty? I would contact Yamaha yourself, sometimes dealers don't push to hard regardless of what they say. Don't blame Yamaha, the bike is 5 years old, I here all the time about Harley not paying for claims on bikes that are still under warranty.

My wife rides our Roadstar most of the time, but she also rides our Triumph and the Venture occasionally. We will be going to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway this June, I will ride the Venture and she is taking the Roadstar. She has been riding 16 years and 90000+ miles.

Buy that 2003 Venture that's for sale on this site. You'll be doing him a favor, and you.

I've dressed out three Ventures. It's not that hard installing this stuff. But when you do the truck rack, make sure you take your time and lay out the holes right before drilling!!!

Thanks Keith, I looked at those old posts and it answered my question. Scott, I see you have pipes, I put them on my Triumph and they aren't that loud and I'm glad I did. But I'm afraid to put them on my Venture.

That price for the paint sounds about right. But I would talk to the bodyshop first. Paint shops can match any paint now adays.
-
If the paint batches are that different, how can your dealer order one that will match? Get some paint and find a bodyshop that is reasonable.

I'm thinking of ordering the Tinted Lower Wind Vents for my 07 Venture, has anybody put these on? Anybody have a picture of them installed? I hate it when accessories are offered for sale without a picture of how they look installed.

I have put the Kuryakyn Iso grips on my 2006 Vulcan 2000LT and my 2002 Victory Touring Cruiser. They did eliminate the vibration, but the larger diameter is hard to get used to, and I have fairly large hands.
-
I put the Corbin seat on my 1996 Tour Classic and my 2001 Tour Deluxe. They are hard but I got used to it. I did put a Mustang seat on my 2002 Victory, it was excellant, but I don't believe they make one for a Venture.

I haven't done a burn out with a motorcycle since my 1968 X6 Hustler. It was new at the time. If you don't know what an X6 is, you're too young. I do still enjoy doing burnouts with my Hemi powered Dodge Magnum RT.

When I ride my 1700 Road Star Midnight Silverado it is a nice change from the Venture. Feels a lot smaller and is easy to handle. Roll on power is great. But unless you change out the passenger seat, I would hate to ride on the back very far.

What is worse than not being able to ride your bike for 4 months because of winter? Not being able to ride your three bikes for 4 months.

I have been to the Minneapolis and the Chicago Shows each a couple of times. The Chicago Show has more vendors. Neither one had as much as I thought they would. If Chicago isn't any further I would go there. The shows are not cheap to get into. Parking is like $10, thats a lot to us northern boys who park where ever we want for nothing. If you are in the market for a new bike it is nice to see them all under one roof and compare.
