  1. Yeah, gotta agree Bill. Since they changed their venue they've lost a lot of their previous 'fan' base. They are more like any other large E-tailer. I sure do miss the old group....
  2. Glad your alive.... Sounds like you had a big one. Take it easy and heal up. Here's the pic of a possibility if there's enough left of the bike..... http://www.cast-aways.com/images/chopper%20(Small).jpg
  3. Nice horn, but got a question on the video?? Lately when I follow a link to some videos the image appears on the screen as a double split horizontally right in the middle. Looks like if it were split vertically it would look like one of those old 3D pics. Anyone having the same problem, or have a idea what's going on??

  5. Because it takes a special tool (OK some folks have made their own) to properly torque the boss/basket nut. Some will cheat and tighten the best they can and leave it at that. If I remember correctly the nut should be torqued to 50ftlbs. There's also a special washer with keeper tabs that fits over the spline, and the nut that may be loose. I'm thinking the whine may be coming from the straight cut gear being out of alignment a bit??? Anyway I'd suggest taking it apart and reassemble...
  6. Is that an Ohio License Plate??? http://images.craigslist.org/5Ia5E95F83L83F43H9c8j588169815b3410fd.jpg
  7. The clutch basket should not move in and out. The P.O. may not have reassembled it correctly.....
  8. It's about the same heigth as an OEM. For $70 bucks it's a pretty good deal. OEM's go for around $100. Shipping is fair also. Slip Streamers have been around, and I'm sure members have used them. MOF I think I have a Slip on the '91... or maybe it's a Show Chrome??? Anyway go for it.....
  9. Can we all spell FARGO....
  10. I wouldn't start running just yet. Isaac isn't producing the big winds like some in the past. Cat 1 huricanes are 50-60 knots. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo_atl.shtml
  11. I picked up a roll of commercial 1/8" double sided tape from a local auto paint store. The stuff really holds. Tossed the sleeve it came in so don't have a clue to the brand, but guess at 3M??
  12. Geeze... OK one year off. All your stuff was added as options... Try to find an '89.... And I repeat the one difference between the Royale and the standard was the CLASS....
  13. The CB wasn't supplied by Yamaha in '83. Most aftermarkets were QualComm... or something like that...
  14. Like others have said that's BS..... But it may be Allstate's rules?? If it is, I'd start looking around for another carrier. I have Geico and they just paid off on the stolen Motorvation. MOF all Geico needed was notification of the brand, model, and Vin# when I bought the trailer. No extra charge for the coverage...
  15. Do you plan on pulling it with the trike or Alan's Venture?? The Adventure Model is nice and I do like the molded fenders... a lot like my old Motorvation.... The Sport Model is actually designed to match a Harley, and does have a larger box capacity because of the attached fenders. The one I picked up even had Harley lighting and the PO added the Harley eyebrows. If you plan on towing it with the trike the Sport may be the way to go?? Nope never found it, and probably never will. Most MC trailers never get out of the back yard, and by now it probably has a rattle can paint job on it... It was the one I had on when we were playing tag last year thru Nevada. I really liked that trailer.... The nice thing is after jumping thru a bunch of hoops Geico covered the loss, and it was enough to cover the used cost of the Legend with a little left over..... That said... I also have an unused 2010 J&E Manufacturing Teardrop trailer... don't ask why... Anyway I can't keep both of them. So even though I do like it, the Teardrops gotta go. $2000 if you're interested. Retail is somewhere up around $3600+shipping. LMK... http://www.jemanufacturing.com/teardrop.html
  16. The one thing a Royale has is the CLASS system. Most other items can be added as accessories to the Standard up to '87. In '88 and on the Venture was only offered in a Royale....
  17. Press the set button twice or hold it down for about 10sec.
  18. I picked up one of the Legend Sports made by them 2-3 months ago. Pretty well built. http://www.american-legend.com/sport.htm
  19. Amen on what goose said.......
  20. The only year they made the choke set circular and in front of the grip was in 1984. Some confusion occurs when a 1984 model year VR received a 1983 VIN number. About 300 of the first '84 bikes where shipped in '83, and for some reason received a D in the year designation code of the VIN instead of the E.
  21. If your fork seals need attention, air will get out fairly quickly. However a leak in the hose to the front forks could be the culprit too. Take a bottle of soapy solution and spray it around the fork seals and any of the connections leading to the front off the compressor. Any leaks will make lots of bubbles.... Also I noticed you said that the fork pressure read '0'psi. Generally the lowest reading you can get is 7psi when they're empty???
  22. You think so huh?? The big problem with a 2gen is the passenger seat is seperate and sits higher than the drivers. For those of us that are longer in the inseam, and extra padding in the rear end, we end up pushing back trying to get off the tank and bang into the front of the passenger seat. Talk about numb butt... At least with the 1stGens the seats are one piece and allow a little more slide to the rear without undo pressure on the tailbone. So seating on the 2ndGen ain't neccessarily a panacia, and the answer ain't the pillowtops with the extra padding which pushes you forward even more. Don't ask how I found all this stuff out. I'm seriously thinking about riding down to Corbin and have them build me a one piece custom pan seat for the '99RSV.....
  23. Just a note. The pegs on the MKI's are adjustable forward and aft by about 3 inches. I always swap out the fixed MKII OEM's for the earlier style. They are interchangable. I have 34" inseam and there's room without the bags. Also try lowering the peg shift position to allow shifting up or down without taking your foot off the peg....It's also a bit more comfortable.
  24. Cool site, but I wish they'd have added weight to the rider specs. Rear end padding, or lack thereof, will affect the seating position just as much as inseam and height....
  25. :sign yeah that::sign yeah that:
