  1. $11,000 seems quite high for a 4 year old model. I'd start the bidding at about $8,000, wouldn't go any higher than $9,000. 0 miles is nice, but the bike is 4 years old. Dave
  2. I went by our local Victory/Polaris dealer a few weeks ago just see the new Cross Roads or Cross Country. They only had one 2 wheeler in the whole store, a left over '08. Talked to the salesman, he didn't have a clue about any "NEW" model victory's, said they sell more ATV's than bikes, couldn't even get me a price. Of course, if I put $1,000 down, I could order a new Victory "what ever model" (his words). I just walked out the door chuckling to my self. Makes me wonder if Victory knows what is going on at the dealership level, can't sell bikes if the dealers don't even try to market them. Dave
  3. Thanks for the encouraging words. Just found out, my position will be eliminated by the end of April. I can't say I'm very upset, been down this road before. My wife and I have been smart with the money, haven't lived beyond our means, so we will get by. I have a good education, and a good work resume, so I feel confident the right position will be found. I'm getting ready to head home, witha couple of stops to get some flea soap for the mutt and a 12 pack of my favorite adult beverage. Now if I could help Carolina play some daggum defense ! Maybe this is the year I start pulling for West Virginia or Syracuse? Could never pull for Duke or Kans-ass, just can't do it. Dave
  4. I got home yesterday from a 10 day business road trip out west, my wife and my daughter are sick, I'm fighting off a cold or something?, my dog has a terrible case of the fleas, & I find out due to "Corporate Restructuring" my job is in serious jeopardy. I finally get home in the evening, no beer in the house:bang head: , and I sit and watch my beloved Tarheels drop their third straight game. At least my hotrod is still in the garage, I think I heard it crying last night wanting me to take it for a ride. OK, I am finished venting. Thanks for listening. Dave
  5. I have been employed in the automotive filtration business for several years now, I have seen some slick marketing before. After reading their list of reasons why this Scott's filter is SOOOO much better, I had to laugh. I'm not going to nitpick, but if this was a superior filter, why is ONLY rated to 35 micron? I can get a $3 Fram that is rated to 35 micron, $129 will buy a butt load of Frams. Oh, it passed a 24 hour chemical test. The industry standard is a 500 hour heat soak test. I guess I did nitpick a little, sorry about that. I'll stick with my Pure One. Dave
  6. I put a 130 front tire on a few years ago and was amazed at how much lighter the front end felt, felt like I took 100 lbs. off the forks. Like Squidley said, it steers much quicker. Haven't tried the leveling links, but have heard some good reports on them. Dave
  7. Come on now Skydoc, how many chicks do REALY think he's gonna be picking up riding an antiquated old 1st gen? We all know that chicks dig the 2nd gens! Dave

    Tinnitus

Mine comes and goes. I have started noticing that I usually hear the ringing at the same time my wife's lips are moving. Could there be a correlation? Maybe this is part of that evolution crap I keep hearing about. Dave
  9. Glad to hear you have things worked out. Also glad to hear I'm good for something around here, besides stirring the pot. Let me know if I can ever be of assistance, I've pretty much torn my bike apart and put it back together except for yanking the motor and tranny out. I think I can still remember most of it. Dave
  10. It sounds like you have the right part number. The fit is very tight between the light stem and the bolt. I had to wedge open the bolt slightly by taking a small chisel and tapping it into the slot on the bolt. This made it a lot easier to get the stem started into the hole. I did NOT have to grind anything. It has been a few years since I installed my lights, I remember distinctly how much of a PIA it was. A lot of patience and some good luck will go a long way. Dave
  11. I'm surprised somebody didn't steal the ladder! Wouldn't matter to some degenerates wether that was a real person or not up there. Funny picture though. Dave
  12. You leaving us Ted? Dang, there was so much more I wanted to do with your bike. I was just getting ready to order you a set of curb feelers to compliment that car tire you're running! Seriously, gonna miss having you around. No matter where the job takes you though, you will always be part of the South Carolina clan. Lots of luck and well wishes go with you on your next adventure. We'll be expecting to see you at some M&E's. Dave
  13. I agree with Squidley, the green stuff works fine. No need in sinking big money into coolant if you are planning on changing it every other year or so. As far as an efficient way to change it. V7Goose wrote up a great tech article on this procedure. Search through the tech section and you should find it. It can be a little messy, but that is the best way to drain almost all of the coolant. Just plan on giving your bike a good bath afterwards. BTW, welcome to the site! Make yourself at home. Dave
  14. We don't have an off season here in SC. Ride year round, I tend to ride more in the winter than the summer, not much fun in 100°+ heat! We do have a couple of days a year where the temps dip into the upper 20's, but you can usually count on some 50° days here and there throughout the winter. Dave
  15. I use this to communicate with the wife while we ride. Couldn't beat the price. The best part, just throw it in the saddle bag when you reach your destination. Man, I crack myself up sometimes.
  16. Hope you guys have a safe trip. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, I hear it snows up there in that foriegn country. If you see any, snap a couple of pictures, it's been ages since I saw any snow! Dave
  17. Squidley, I saw the post awhile back about how this HD came into your posession. I gotta agree with you, makes it a very special scoot. Cherish it and remember your friend every time you ride. I had an old Sportster given to me in about the same fashion several years ago, I hated to ride the dang thing (shook like crazy, thought my eyes would pop out), but at least once a month I'd fire it up and take it for a spin. It would bring back memories of my fallen buddy. I'd still have that bike today if it hadn't been stollen, theif got away with a $3,000 bike, but to me it was priceless. I swore if I ever did find that theiving low life I would string him up by his walnuts and skin him alive. It's been over seven years, don't think I will ever see that scoot again. Life goes on I guess, I still have the memories! Dave
  18. Turkey, corn bread stuffing, and my mamma's sweet tater casserole. Oh yea, with several ICE COLD Coors lights.

    Reflectors

Bubber, I have a pair in the top of my tool box you are welcome to have. Took them off for the same reason, then ended up taking the bars off altogether. Send me your address and they will be on the way Friday. Dave

    New imac

I will be in the market for a new computer after the first of the year. You guys have me thinking Dell may not be getting my business. If I may hijack this thread for a minute or ten. Can Mac systems run Office software or similar software? Can Mac run Microsoft programs? I have never had any dealings with Mac, but the thought of not worrying about virus and spyware protection sounds VERY appealing. Any insight you guys can offer would be much appreciated. Dave
  21. My modification went in a totally different direction. Don't need more power, it's fast enough for me. Don't want no heads up display, I like the view I already have. I designed, built and installed my own weather machine. It fits inside the headlight bucket, nice and clean install. So now, I have the perfect 72° sunny day any time I want to ride. My next project will be to clone myself so I can ride more and let my clone go to work and deal with the honey do list.
  22. It is the year of the color scheme. My '05 is black over red. Yamaha brought those colors back for '07 but flipped it to red over black. Now as far as preference..... I do prefer my black over red, mostly because it's mine and it's paid for.
  23. It is my beleif that the RSV and the RSTD bikes suspensions are not designed for radial tire use, thusly the benefits of using radial tires (better cornering characteristics) won't be fully utelised. I don't think using radials front and rear together will cause a huge drop off in handling, not sure though. I do know mixing a radial with a bias ply on the same bike is asking for trouble. If you are just trolling around and not realy leaning that far, you probably will not feel any difference, but when you need to hit some severe lean angles (such as avoiding that cage that's trying to run over you) the front and rear tires will be trying to do two different things. In short, the bike gets really out of shape. I'm sure others will chime in with a better explanation. Dave
  24. You can't wait to see a picture where you are put on a pedastal surrounded by a bunch of men. We all know that's where you THINK you should be at all times.
  25. Hey Footsie, why don't you start liking that ©RAP music? If you start liking it enough maybe that too will go disapear. And then this world would be a much better place to live! But please, don't start liking Jimmie Buffet, I'd hate to lose him. Dave (hater of that noise called rap)
