  1. Have you checked cylinder compression? Earl
  2. I would check the battery voltage first. If the voltages is good, then check the fuses. Earl 00 RSV
  3. My first guess would be crank sensor and the control unit my second. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  4. I did not have to rejet. Earl
  5. I remove the caliber and bracket before I take the wheel out. I put the bike in gear so the ring gear will not turn, that makes it easier to get the wheel back in. When I have the wheel back in place I install the spacers, bracket and caliber. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  6. Make sure the transmission is in gear. If it is in neutral you will have a much harder time getting it in. Earl
  7. What Marcarl said. Earl
  8. Prayers sent from NC. Earl
  9. Look carefully at the end of the bar weight. You will see a small plug, pop it out with a sharp knift blade. There is a allen screw in the end of the weight holding it on. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  10. Have you checked the blub and to see if power is going to the high beam side of the blub? Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  11. I would check the torque on the head bolts. I have stopped a couple head gasket leaks by retorquing the head bolts. I know it’s a long shot. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  12. Thanks so muck for all you do and I pray you have a safe and blessed New Year. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  13. Thanks Jeff and a Merry Christmas to you and yours. Plan to see you next week!!!!!!!!!!! Earl
  14. The rear brake pedal return spring may not be returning the pedal or you may not have enough free travel in the rear brake linkage. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  15. Merry Christmas To All!!!!! Earl
  16. I have the air lift and no regrets. Earl 00 RSV 86 VR
  17. I have a 00 with 67K and the only warranty work has been one rear shock. Other than that, just normal maintaince. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  18. The pressure sensor may be bad. If it is bad the bike may run good, but gas mileage will be down. The sensor’s vacuum line connects to # 2 carb boot. Disconnect the line from the boot and see if it will hold a vacuum. If the sensor will not hold a vacuum it is bad. A new one is about 275.00. I would guess the 50% of all first gen. sensors are not working properly. Earl 00 RSV 86 VR

I will be leaving tomorrow and plan to be there by Sunday afternoon. I will be staying at the Lime Tree Motel Sunday and Monday. Tuesday I will be moving down to Shadow Mt. RV Park, going south it is on the right just before you get to Iron Mt. I will be in meetings Monday & Tuesday, but I will have some free time the rest of the week. Hope to see you and other Venture riders there. Earl 252-341-6426
  20. Good to hear you found the problem. Earl
  21. Coils will be warm to the touch under normal operation. If the front coils are getting hotter than the rear coils, it is because their primary circuit to ground in the coil is not being interrupted. When the primary circuit to ground is interrupted, the magnetic field collapses into the secondary circuit of the coil and exits the coil wire to the spark plug. The coil will have a short time to cool, and then it starts all over again. If the ignition system doesn’t interrupt the voltage going through the primary, the coil will get so hot is will self destruct. I would guest you have a bad crank sensor or bad TCI. Earl
  22. I talked with their Rep at the Mt. Man rally, and he said they were designed to be run as turn downs or turned out. He also said that they were louder than stock, with a deeper sound, but not too loud. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV CMA

  24. I think the champions are 5/8. Under normal use, the plugs should be good for 20K. I ran my first set 34K and the bike ran fine. I have about 25K on this set. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  25. You are thinking correctly. That's the way I do mine. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
