    fuel petcock

If you keep it on reserve, the light will come on and then the miles will start counting down. I always keep mine on reserve and when I have used about 4.3 to 4.5 gallons, the miles will go to 0 and start counting up. I start looking for gas then. Earl
  2. Yes, just the manifolds. Earl
  3. Like Pegscraper said. Earl
  4. You are right. Earl:thumbsup2:
  5. Could it be the fuel pump? When it will not start, pull the fuel hose off at the tank and see if you have fuel pressure. Earl
  6. Curious miinds want to know. Earl
  7. Fork oil may be much better than ATF, but ATF has worked for me. My 86 VR has had ATF in the forks for over 110K and my 00 RSV has over 65k with ATF in it. Earl
  8. Sounds like a warranty issue to me. If you carry it to the dealer, it will probably work great for them. Earl
  9. I think this is the info you need. Go to this page http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6238 Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  10. The engine is an air pump. 0 vacuum on one cylinder is not good. I would check that vacuum port and make sure that it is open (not restricted). If the vacuum port is open and there is no vacuum when the engine is running, I would do a compression test on that cylinder. You should have around 140 PSI. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  11. You may have an air leak in the exhaust system. I think there was a problem with the exhaust cracking on some of the 04 & 05s where the two exhaust pipes join together. Look for heat discoloration of the chrome at the Y. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  12. This link is for a VMax. If it still works, there are pics of VMac carbs. I hope it will help. http://www.vmoa.net/xoops/modules/ne...id=923&forum=2 Earl
  13. Thanks for a splendid weekend. The rides were great and the speeds we ran were right where I like to ride. It was great to see old friends and make new ones. I rode about half way home in light rain, just enough to keep the road wet. I got home about 8:00 PM Sunday. Skid and Leslie you were fantastic host. I can’t wait to get back up your way again. Earl
  14. You can use washers to shim up the needles. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  15. If all goes as planed, I will be going. Earl
  16. Did you hold the throttle open when you were checking the compression? If the carbs are way out of sink and the throttle on the 90 PSI cyclinder was closed tighter than the others, it would restrict in comming air and lower the reading. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
  17. I hope it is there now. Earl
  18. Thanks also for the info. Earl
  19. Hi Brad, This link is for a VMax. I don't know if the setting is the same for a Venture. Check your's and see how they compare. http://www.vmoa.net/xoops/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=923&forum=2 Earl
  20. Make sure the vacuum caps on the intake manifolds are on and not leaking. Poor performance at low speed, but still getting good MPG sounds like lean fuel. Earl
  21. David, I will be on the bike. I couldn't afford the gas for my four wheeler. Earl
  22. I am planning to go to Mark's memorial ceremony also. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV
