Has anyone come up with a reverse gear yet for the RSV? I have see one that was made for HD. It looks like just an extra gear that runs the tranny backwards. http://www.dauntlessmotors.com/Mountinghardware/reverse.htm

I had an 08 Ultra. Racked up just over 10,000 mile this year. I just sold it to save up some:mo money: and go back to a new or used RSV.
-
well I sold it!!!I got the pay off $17,500. Time to break out the KZ1000 for awhile and save up for another RV. Just don't tell the wife.

It looks like I'll be keeping the HD. I had 60 watchers on Ebay, 5 different bidders with an high bid of 15,375.
-
I've seen several Ultra's where the owners made the top trunk detachable and put on a solo seat. It like having two bike in one.

THANKS!!

Ya I'm aware of thier rule. The dealer told me if I sold it with 1 year I would be band from buy new again. It's been one yr and I most likely wouldn't buy another one.

Well its the end of the riding season, and I said I would give my HD a riding season to see how I like it. Well I decided to sell it, gather my thought (and some cash) and go back to the Venture. If I'm lucky by the time I get ready buy, Yamaha will make a few positive changes and updates. If anyone is interested or knows anyone interested I've listed it on ebay with a reserve of $17,900. Item number: 260315769177

I agree, I think we all knew this was going to happen! We just did not know when it was going to hit the fan. Well now it's here and there are alot of us being effected. I'm a police officer and think my job is safe. But I drive truck part-time. Over the last four year I was able to drive 2-3 day per week. Over the last 2 months I've been behind the wheel maybe 6 times. I called the company yesterday to see how things were going and was told they could not find runs for 18 full time driver! WOW! thats about 1/3 of the fleet. It looks like I may have to find a new home for my 2008 HD Ultra. I've always depended on the part time job to make the payment. Lesson learned.

Harley touring versus venture
ken replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well here's my two cents: I had a 05 venture, and now have a 08 ultra so I can speak from experience here. First of all I do miss by Venture and wish I still had it!! Now with that said I'll be short and to the point of my thoughts. One of the biggest things I noticed where the Venture comes out ahead of the HD is the room the driver and passenger has. I just came back from two day 900 mile trip on the HD and found myself trying to find a comfortable place in the saddle. I did a 800 mile two day trip on Venture and had no problems stretching out to get comfy. There has been alot of talk about the heat coming off the air cooled engine on the HD. After 7,000 mile so far the year I've had no real problems. Stopped in traffic you get some heat, but nothing to bad. The Venture is much smooooother and quieter then the HD. Once under way on the HD it's smooth out, but not as much as the Venture. The HD has a user friendly sound system (volume at one thumb, and tuner at the other) build in CD player. with a MP3 port. It sound good too. In the line of power (now remember I've been in the saddle both) the HD WILL walk away from the venture and has a high top speed if that matters. The hd has a nice dash full of gages, which we all know the venture lacks in. All in all there both good machines it just depends what’s most important to you. In my case be comfy for those long rides is where the venture out classes the HD. I just wish Yamaha would listen to the people that buy/ride their products. The changes they made for 2009 is just like Kraft macaroni and cheese (the cheesiest) -
Congrads on the new HD!! I did the same, only last year with a 2008 Ultra. At first I didn't like the HD over my RSV. They both have thier own pros and cons. I've logged almost 6,000 miles on the HD and I can truly say I do very much miss my RSV. The HD has plenty of power and is well balanced and yes there's that resale thing, but I miss how quiet and smooth my RSV was. A lot of riders whine about how top heavy the RSV is, well I never had a problem. One thing I noticed right away on the HD was the lack of passenger room. If I'm riding two up the back of my legs hit the wifes feet every time I stop. Speaking of room you'll find you can't stretch out on the HD like you can on the RSV. I will say the radio/cb/cd player is much user friendly the the RSV and the adjustable vent make for a nice air flow. Over the past 6,000 mile I've grown to like the hd but we havn't bonded as of yet.

At the end of the month I'm going to take a few day off and head up to Northwest Michigan with the wife and a few friends. I was hoping we had some members here that could suggest some good roads to ride, places to eat, and a cheap place to put my head on a pillow, places not to go, and so on. On my map rt22 looks like a good road?

Star Motorcycle 2009 Model Intro today at 3:00 PM EST
ken replied to jpgivens's topic in Watering Hole
If they would make some much needed upgrades I"m sure they would sell more!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I considered the idea of trading of my 08 ultra if the changes we ALL were hoping for would have been made. The way I see it the big change is the price, which by the way is more then I paid for the ultra, and less storage space as it seems they filled a bag with a cd player. I still wish I would have kept my 2005 RSV:doh: -
Any word if 2009 Venturer will be EFI?

Freebird I have an 2008 Ultra. I've logged almost 5000 miles so far this year. At first I really did not like it after having an 2005 RSV, but it's really starting to grow on me. I have noticed no heat problems. The fairing has vents that open on the front and down at the legs. I've sat in traffic 90 degree weather with no problems. I think the new 96" has just has much if not more get up and go as the RSV 2nd gen. One down side is theres not as much room in the saddle as the RSV. I'm not that far from you feel free to stop up and take it for a spin. I really think you'll be very impressed. Oh ya the CD player beats the heck out of that old tape player. Its also nice to have a dash full of gages to see what your bike is doing. Stop up anytime. -

Sunday July 20th it will be one year that Antwerp Squad 41 was involved in a crash that killed three squad members and two passengers. Heidi McDougall a good friend was killed and her husband Matt a fellow LE officer was injured. On Sunday just take a minute to remember all the brave men and women that put themselves in harms way to make it a safer, better world for the rest of use to live in. http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070722/NEWS01/707220325/-1/NEWS Lord, I ask for courage~ Courage to face and conquer my own fears... Courage to take me where others will not go...
