I had an 05 that I put 8,000 miles on the 1st year with no whine or chirp. Then I brought an HD and sold the RSV. Now I'm "whine" wishing I had kept the RSV. I will most likly get a used RSV next, so I was wondering what the chances are of finding one with out the whine.
-
I used the search option and can't seen to find a poll on how many have the "whine" vs how many do not. I found a poll ref: to how many have fixed the problem, but no one that would give an average on how many bike have the problem. If anyone knows of a poll could you post a link.

See if they'll throw in a new RSV, for me.

I'm here 3-4 or more times per day, and I'm bikeless right now. Can't wait to get my next RSV. Iwould like to see some changes for the next model yr. But for the best bag for the money will most likly look for an use midnight or 08 red/black really like that color compo

I think the carb heater only come on when the temps get down in the 30's

I was just wondering why we don't have a area on the forum to post suggestion and ideas that the Yamaha team can draw from, and reply to? I would think it would be great market research, and a great what to improve the machine and keep riders comming back and buying the latest and greatest thing. Just a thought.

Nettle Lake! I get by there often. I drive part time for Bryan Truck Line in Montpeiler when I'm not in the Patrol Car. Trying to save that part time money for the new bike, but every time I get a little saved up something comes up and I go backwards.

Hit 67 in northwest ohio. I would have spent the afternoon riding if I had something to ride, which I would have had by now if times were better. I've seen some pretty good deal on ebay lately

Nothing at Diamond R like the ones in Denis Kirk. The ones in the pic has two rails on the side on one at the rear. I have a scanner and would scan the pic if I had the brain power to operate it.

I was just over on the Steve Saunders Goldwing forums and found a thread about the end of the Venture! It was just posted today so there has been no commits as of yet. This is what it said: (Stopped by the local Yamaha dealer yesterday. The sales manager said the company may cease production of the RSV, due to low sales. Apparently the company doesn't want to reduce the price or upgrade the RSV. (engine size, carb-to-F.I., etc) He continued to say that Yamaha plans to concentrate more on their 1900cc models. I might to lurk over to Venture.org, to get the skinny. Anybody heard anything similar or different? ) Anyone here hear anything like this. I would not be surprised if it were true. Yamaha sure isn't going out of thier way to keep up with what buyer want.

If anyones has the 2009 Denis Kirk Catalog look on page 252 in the lower left corner. There is a pic of the rear of a RSV with some unusual added marker light and side bag guard rails. Has any one seen this type of guards or lights before?

Did you ever get a reply from theses guys? -
OK, I got break yesterday and tried to solve the problem. I did as eusa1 suggested. I put the car up on ramps, took of the cap, no not need to add coolant it was full, made sure the overflow bottle was full, started her up. It ran for about 20 minutes or so. While it was running the fans kicked on and the coolant level QUICK! (I hope that normal) so I added more. I felt both header core lines and both were hot, one was a little cooler then the other and I did see a few small bubbles come up thru the goose neck while it was running. I think I have heat now, but the real test will be when the temps drops down in the 20s. Thanks everyone for the help........ Now I have another question for the Chrysler guys. The car is my daughter's (Cierra) and it has just over 160k. In the last three or so years I'v put on new ball joints, water pump, both rear bearings and the rotors and break all the way around were none last year. Cierra will be off to college in about 8 months. See will stay at home and drive 20 miles each way. The car now need shocks and struts, and all four tires. Most likly cost about $600 to $800. Should I forget about it and find something else or put the money in to it. The motor and trans still seem fine. I hate to shell out the cash and then have somthing else go wrong. This is the only chrysler I've ever had so I'm not really sure how many miles there good for. I had a ford escort once my wife brought new and I put 264k on it before I sold it, and it still ran good. Can I get this out of a chrysler and not get nickled and dimed to death.

I’ll be in the market for a new or new to me venture in a year or so. With Yamaha making no changes why should I even consider a “brand” new model at around $17,000 when I can get the same thing a few years old with a few miles on it for around $10,000 and still have a two or three warranty. It seems like to me Yamaha’s new bike sale will start falling, especially with the other guy’s coming out with new touring models with up to date technology P.S. I have yet to see a better looking bike then the Midnight with the studded seat. If they would come back with that, an in dash CD player and a few gages I’d go the the bank tomorrow.

Ediddy, I should check the Harley forum. He’s probably over there posting how he blew away a metric bike.

Ok Mike I'll try this. I got home late last night and only had a few minutes to check for loose vacuum line. Didn't see any. I'll try this and keep my fingers crossed. I'll let you know the results. Thanks Ken

Thanks for the help so far. I'll check for vacuum leak. I hope it's a cheap and easy fix.

Wouldn't the car over heat if the water pump wasn't circulating?

Need some help with the heater on my daughter 1996 Sebring. The car has about 160,000 mile on it and the heater is not working the way it should. This started last year. When it at idle it will not blow any heat, only cool air, but when you rev it or drive it the the cool air changes to hot and then back to cool when you stop. I changed the thermastate and the coolant level is good. I thought it may be the heater core so I flushed it with the garden hose, but still no heat. I know there has to be a few members good with a wrench that can suggest things to try.

When I had my 05 RSV I also turned it in the a star glide. It almost felt like I was riding a different bike. In case no one has seen them I linked pics from the Yamaha site. Look thru them, you will find two star glides. I really love the looks of the 08. If I was ready to buy right now I'd be looking for a midnight or an 08 with that color sch. Check out the second pic, it's the fire fighter bike that I think belongs to one of our members. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/feedback/09_StarCalendarImages.aspx?id=7&pg=all
