"new bike fever" I've had the illness since Dec 5 2008 1:10 in the after noon!! That the day I sold my Ultra.
-
I have to say I don't think the price is all that good anymore. MSRP on the 2010 $19,690 WOW. I paid $18,500 when I brought my 08 Ultra. How does yama justify a nearly $2000 increase with no changes????

Will a VMax rear wheel fit?
ken replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Try RC COMPONENTS. I know they make customs wheels for the RSTD but not sure if the RSTD wheel will fit RSV. -
welcome and Congrads Larry, I'm sure you'll get a lot of miles/smiles out of the new ride. I'm soooo looking foward to the day when I can make a deal on a new RSV. If I'm lucky late next year.

Auestion for the Truck Drivers Out There (about passing)
ken replied to LilBeaver's topic in Watering Hole
I think the question has been answered here, but I do have a commit. I drive part time and have been driving for about 6 year and one thing that really peevs me off is when I merge over to the left lane to allow a vehicle to merge in from over pass and the vehicle doesn't slow to let me back over. My truck will only go 62mph so I end up holding up the fast lane. I just sayin thats all. -
I have to agree you Kitesquid on the Valkryie. I've watched them on ebay and thier still selling for around $10,000. I've see a few real nice ones with low miles come up, but it seem like more then not the reserve is never met. There was one that the bidding ended today with the last bid at $8200 with 61,000 and it was a no sale, reserve not met. Seller say he had over $6500 extras

Crazy Frog. That looks like a ultra in the back ground of your pic. Is it your? If so whats your take?

now this is what i'm talking about. It's great to get someone else's view on thinks. I never really thought about the gages like that. Great reply thanks.

Lets say you had the cash to get what ever touring bike you wanted what would it be, and why? Would it be a HD ultra, a Victory Vision, GL1800, Kaw Voyager, or a RSV. There seems to be alot of Tourers available now days. I'm not ready to buy just yet, but I seem to keep changing my mind on what my goal is. I used to have a 05 RSV, loved it, but thought I had to have a Harley so I bought an 08 HD ultra which I have since sold. I've put a few miles on a GL 1800 (test drives). Put a leg over a Vision on a show room floor, and have yet to see the Kaw Voyager “in person”. Now, personal I can cross the Vision and Kaw off the list because of the looks. The vision looks like a star fish on wheels, and the Kaw looks like a bunch of aftermarket parts tossed together. That leaves RSV, HD and GL1800. I think the RVS looks the best, but then I think of all that power and sport bike handling of the GL1800. The HD I had was ok, but not as roomy as the RSV not to mention the heat from the air cooled V-twin, not so much for me but it would heat up the wifes right leg, but it's a Harley?? Just when I set my goal for the RSV, I change my mind citing the I-basket problem and that damn tape deck. So then I tell myself ok, my next bike will be a gl 1800, but then I look at the prices and not real sure of the seating position and it kind of has that plain look. I put a list of thinks together that are important to me like Water cooled, comfort, power handeling, gages, looks, repair cost, warranty, durability and reverse gear. I graded the HD, RSV and GL on a points system and the RSV came out just a nose in front of the GL. So I’m sure I will not go back to the HD so that leave me still on the fence RSV or GL. What would you do?

I remember a reading a road test from several years ago that put the RSV up against the Valkryie and Ultra. At that time the Ultra still had the 88CU and came out just a nose in front of the RSV. I think it was a road test to Alaska.

The 2010 harleys were announced today on thier web site. No big changes, nothing water cooled. Same old thing, with some different names. I sure hope Yamaha makes more changes then HD did.

I was scanning ebay motors, like I do everyday wishing I had some extra cash and came across a just listed 2001 RSV with a whopping 290,000 miles. The seller says it runs good. I wonder how many HD's could do this?
-
WOW! I wish I had the cash!! I just saw a new 2007 zero miles..RSV blue/black on ebay buy it now $13,845.. Damn the economy.. Item number: 370220152761

Got blue lighted on way to work this morning
ken replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
Correct! There is a difference between modulating and strobe! If I recall not long ago a member posted pics of his rear strobes and I tried to caution him and got jumped all over. Glad you didn't get a ticket, but it could happen. -
Hey Don, Still don’t have the new RSV yet. The way the economy’s going it may be a few years. Maybe by that time Yamaha will replace the darn cassette player. Anyhow I just got paid up so I can keep logging on. As I do several times a day. Thanks

I recall reading a review of three riders that rode a HD ultra, Honda Valkryie, and a RSV to Alaska and that during the trip in heavy rain the radio on the RSV stopped working but then started working again after it dried out. Oh ya the RSV came in just behind the HD in the review. The rides took issue with the tall windshield and handling of the RSV.

CHERRY PIE!!!!!!!!!!!! Make it a point to stop at the Pie Company in Traverse City for a big slice of thier would famous cherry pie. I saw this on the Food Channel several years ago so the wife and I planned a 800 mile round trip to get a slice. Oh ya if you ride the Tunnel of trees along the coast there is a great place that serves polish food on the north end. Have a safe trip.
