OH NO! Not an 07! Well I did just about the samething after selling my 05 RSV midnight I got a new 08 Ultra. After reading about all the issue with the 07's I waited till the 08's came out. Here's the issues I'm speaking of and have to do with a lot of changes HD made form 06 to 07. They went to he 96ci from the 88ci.1) There were a LOT of heat issues because the FI was programed to run lean. 2) They went to a six speed tranny from there 5 speed, many complaint about 5 gear whine. 3) On the 08's HD put on thier IDS system which means the rear sprocket is mounted in rubber where it contacts the rear wheel. They failed to include this system on the 07's. I sure hope your 07's does not have any of this issues. My 08 runs great and so far care free, BUT I really wish I would have kept my RSV. GOOD LUCK.

Well I've done a little paint work in the past and can tell you it's very easy to remove the light scratches so long as they are not deeper then a few layer of clear coat. Most newer paint jobs have multipal layer of clear coat. You can get finisher polish made by 3M that works great, even puffer pads that fit on a drill. Just remember to read the direction and don't go over board, and then wax the new finish. It's very easy to make a old bike look new in just a few hours. If you scoot is black NEVER use any thing but clean micro cloths on it. This will keep it looking new all the time.

I've seen some talk about issues crossing the border. Crossing into Canada is a peice of cake. Crossing back into the US is where you run into issues. Just make sure you have a passport OR a photo ID AND your birth cert. I cross every week with no real problem. If you're crossing from Michigan cross at the Blue Water Bridge and not at the Detroit/Windsor crossing. There is a lot a construction going on at the Detroit crossing and it can be a little bit of a pain in the a$$. Plus the view from the top of the Blue Water Bridge is breath taking. The view alone is worth the trip. Unfortunately I can't attend. With the US economy the way it is, the AM Axle strike causing all the GM shut downs has really taken a toll on my wallet. Maybe next year. Oh ya 200 mile or 2000 miles does it really matter.

2005 brought a new Midnight put over 10,000 miles several long trips, never a problem. Very comfy, plenty of power. Had some good times, I really loved that bike. 2007 sold the venture, thought I had to have a Harley. Bought a 2008 Ultra came with all the bells and whistles except ABS. Shortly after riding the Ultra I realized I messed up. Here's why. The HD is not near as comfy, my back starts to hurt after 20 min of riding and I've never had a back issue before. It's the same with the passenger seat the wife feels cramped and she only 5'4" 120 lbs (but she says she can live with it). Much louder then I thought it would be, I really don't care for the vibration that comes through the handle bars. The warmest day of riding so far was 72 deg and I could really feel the heat on my right leg, can't wait for those 85 deg days. Now on the plus side it does handle very well, has a cd player, security system, navigation and xm option, and all the gages. With that said I would go back to the Venture in a heart beat if I wouldn't lose my rear on selling the HD, and if the wife would go along with it. she seems to think 3 new bike over 8 year is enough.

Yes, he was very serious! I guess the reason is because of past LE Officers and Firefighters buying the bikes at a discount and turning around and selling them for a good profit and then buy another one and again turning another profit. I don't want to make money, I just want a good comfy bike that me and the wife can both enjoy! And who knows once the wife get to ride she may love it, but after setting on the rear seat myself I've got my doubts. For me it was no where near as comfy has the RSV.

I picked the HD for 18,900 new and built for me with chrome spoke wheels and security system (LE discount). This was one of the reason I brought it. I'm pretty sure I could sell it today and make money. When I signed the paper work the F&I guy told me if I sold it within one year Harley would band me from buying new again.

I use the small flags that have the wood or plastic stixs and tape them on with some black tape.

I don't think they make extensions? The floor boards will adjust down by about 3/4", not enought to make a difference. The last trip I took with her on My RSV (which was an 2005) was just over 800 miles round trip up into the upper part of Michigan. She was very comfy for the full trip, while I started getting saddle sore after about 500 miles. This was the midnight with the smooth seat. If I had the pillow top she probably would have feel asleep.

A few days ago I decided to stop watching the snow fall and I went out to my garage where my 2008 HD ultra classic is parked. I started waxing the already clean and waxed paint job. I decided to sit on the passenger seat to see how comfy it is, because of the weather the boss has not got to ride it yet. Anyhow I could not believe how tight and scrunched (if thats a real word) it felt. I'm only 5'6 and I felt like I was 6'5 setting on the back. My knees were higher then my backside, and my back was straight up with no room to recline, not even a little. I'm sure if the boss has the same problems I'll be back on a RSV. At least if I go back to the RSV I should'nt lost my shirt on the HD. I got $3,500 off the msrp when I bought it because it's a Peace Officer model. One things for sure I'm not going to go buy all those pretty chome goodies until the boss is happy.

GOOD CHOICE! I test drove two new wings before buying my new 08 HD Ultra. I loved the power and all the goodies on the GL1800. I'm not really sure why I went with the HD. I guess mostly because of the seating position. I really like to cruise with my feet out in front of my knees in stead on behind my knees. Because of the weather in NW Ohio I really have not been able to get much riding in yet but when I do I still plan to post my thoughts RSV-vs- HD Ultra.

WHAT! The main reason I changed from w/98 to this new one was so my kids could use thier mp3/dig camera and so on. I can't ever get the Media Player to work on this thing. When I put in a cd I get a errror message that the file had been moved, deleted, or renamed. Any suggestion on how to fix this?

I recall several years back of an older couple that died because they used a kerosene heater in a small enclosed room.

I just found a site that gives step by step on how to install XP on a puter that came with Vista.http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/install-windows-xp-on-your-pre-installed-windows-vista-computer/

You bet it sucks! Today I also tried to load XP but it would not take. I spent several hour trying to get it to go, gave my kids a shot at it to, cause of course they know eveything. lol. I'm going to guess my hard drive won't run it to.

My new one is an Acer 1g memory and 260g on the hard drive

I got a new computer a month or so ago and it was loaded with Windows Vista. I was upgrading from windows 98, or so I thought. First of all I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree when it comes to computers I often find myself going to my 15 year old for help. Anyhow this system is twice a slow as w/98 was. It as problems ripping and burning cd's (sometimes it will and sometimes it won't) it's like it has its own taste of music. Sometimes it takes over 10 minutes just to start up. And after start up if you click on a certain area it may take another 10 minutes tp open a page. Is anyone else running this system with these problems, or does anyone know how to fix the issuesor it normal?

Lets dump this thread once and for all, its making me sick.

If it feels good buy it, quick before the 07 are all gone. You can't go wrong with the RSV. I had an 05 and loved it. It was nothing to do an 800 mile day with the wife. Set the cruise, crank the tunes and enjoy. I'm 5'6" and never had a issue with the weight, except when it came time to back up. The bike was just a bit tall for me at the saddle. I sold it and brought a new HD ultra. I've only been able to put a few miles on the HD so far so I can't say at this point if I'll like the HD over the RSV. I can say the RSV had great power 2 up. Never had an issue with passing. Most of the time I would just twist the wrist and gooooo!.

28k!!! no way, I picked it up for $18,800 which is just a little over the MSRP of a new RSV

Last Tuesday I picked up my 2008 Ultra Peace Officer Addition. Because of the wonderful weather in northwest Ohio I have only been able to put two miles on it so far. Not nearly enough to post a comparision on the 05 RSV that I had. So here is what I think so far. I do like having all the gages in the dash tach, oil pressure, amp, this is a big plus over the RSV. The HD sits lower in the seat, but it felt harder the move around in the garage?? To remove the side bags for cleaning you simply turn two locks inside the bags and presdo they lift right off (that cool) I notice much more vibration at the grips then I expected, but it seemed to smooth out once under way. The security system is pretty cool too, the bike arms itself once you walk away with the key. I'll be sure to post more once the snow and ice lets up and I can get out and ride. I'll try to post some pick if I can figure it out. Oh ya my insurance was over $100 cheaper for 12 months!

Well according to the dealer my first HD Ultra was built today. I think they are built in PA at the plant that did not lay off. I guess I'll see next week when the dealer said it would be shipped.
