  1. After the issue I had last night with the gas shooting from my tail pipe I of couse had to change the oil. I check the owner manual and it list 20w40 as the recommended oil. So I checked Wally World, Menards, and Advanced Auto. No one had it. ended up with Quaker State 10w40. Hope this is ok. I did see Rotella 15w10 thought about that, but I was thinking Rotella is for deisel engines.
  2. Menards has a red bike lift on sale for $64. I think I'm going to get one but first want to hear if anyone here has one and what they think of it.
  3. Well I got the oil changed today. I thought it would smell like gas but it really didn't. Looking at some of the replys and the picks of the bent piston rod makes me sick knowing this could have happened. After all Iv'e only the bike for a few weeks. I ran ok for the drive home this morning, about a 30 mile drive. So I think I'm ok.
  4. When I got to work last night I parked in the garage as normal. Several hours later I came in off the road and noticed the smell of gas. I look around my 2002 RSV and noticed a small wet spot under the left side. Well I thought it must have came from one of the overflow tubes. I decided to start her up. When I hit the start switch it turned over about three times and then just stopped!!! I hit the start switch a few more times and just got a thud. The third time I held it longer and it turned over and started shooting gas out the left side exhaust. It seem to run ok. Hope I make it home. Guess I should do an oil change in case some gas got purged passed the rings down into the crank case. Has anyone had this happen before?
  5. I was at Pinwall Cycles last Friday. Friendly and helpful folks there. I think they have just about any part you would want, except the intercom clip that goes on the RSV tank.
  6. Great!!! Thank you
  7. Oh Ya, I have a 2002 RSV Midnight.
  8. Do anyone had the two clips that attach to the tank that holds the intercom lead that they can part with?
  9. Today the wife and I completed our first full marathon 26.2miles. I had a great split (13.1 miles) of 2 hrs and 10 minutes. Stacy at age 41 was right on my heals. She passed me and finished with a time of 4 hrs and 50 minutes. My time was....................well.............I finished before the course closed and I'll leave it at that.
  10. The drain tubes are there , but the are four others that are plugged. One of them is rather larger 3/4" or so. I went through the AIS removal thread and it looks like the PO pluged the hoses and removed the hardware.
  11. From what I can tell the PO removed the AIS system. He installed an air horn in it's place. I can see three or four hoses pluged off hanging off the bottom.
  12. Once the low 30's set in I plan on............ 1) Installing stock pipes .........selling the Khrome Werks:whistling: 2) Reversing the Jason Mod "if I can figure it out." 3) upgrading to 401 Polk speakers 4) Stock Mirrors 5) Cutting down the stock shield so that I can see over it. 6) Making the touring pack removable so that I can go starglide. 7) Maybe a carb sync (never none this one before, shouldn't be to hard) 8) Dechroming:shock3: 9) and planning my next trip
  13. Chrome forks have been on the Midnight additions since 2002.
  14. I have khrome works on now. I can't say they are "LOUD". I think they sound about as loud as a stock harley. If you look I think there is a sound clip somewhere around the site. I'm going out Cleveland this weekend to run in my first Marathon. I am planning to stop by Pinwall cycles to see what they have for stock. I see them alot on ebay. Prices seem good.
  15. Just wondering what the most quite exhaust is that can be installed on an RSV? Have khrome works now and a bit to loud for me.
  16. I have a set of Khrome werks of my new to me 2002 venture. They are just a bit to loud and I'm sure I'm waking neighbors up at 4:30 in the morning comming home from work. I was wondering if they can be repacked to make them a quieter?
  17. Thanks Don I'll try that.
  18. The rear shock on mine RSV has a groan but no oil leak. Does that mean its on its way out?
  19. A few weeks ago I started a thread asking everyone to keep and eye out for an low mileage fair priced RSV Midnight. Well Jack aka jblue1555 came through. He sent me a PM about his bike and after a few phone calls, a few emails and 1500 mile trip my wife and I are now the proud owners of one very chromed out Midnight with only 18,000 miles on it. Jack told me he had alot of chrome installed and sent me a few pics. I thought it looked pretty good and he offered it to me at a price that was more then fair. When I got to he house he had it parked in the drive "shining in the sun" I could not believe all the stuff he had put on this bike. I'd make a list, but I'll still be typing tomorrow. He even installed a hitch, something I always wanted on a touring bike for those long trips along with the drivers back rest Jack put on. It sounds great I guess thats because of the chrome work pipes. I'll add some pics if I can figure out how to. Thanks again for the great deal Jack. Stacy and I'll will get a lot of smiles/miles on it. I'll let you post what you sold it to me for if you want.
  20. How can you tell when the shocks dead?
  21. There's an 04 on ebay. The seller has a reserve of $10k. Nice bike. But way over priced.
  22. Could everyone keep thier eye out for "GOOD DEAL" on a low milage used RSV midnight. I've watched several on ebay, search tempest, cycle trader and and power sports network. It seems most sellers think thier bikes are made of gold. If anyone come across one shot me a pm. I've been two years without riding, its tearing me up! Figure if I can find one in the next few months I'll spend the winter getting it set up the way I like:) The best deal I've seen so far was that 2004 repo on ebay but the auction was only 3 days which left no time to inspest it.
  23. Chicago isn't bad as long as you don't go thru during rush "hours," and have plenty of change in your pocket for tolls. Oh ya watch out for the pot holes.
  24. Don't have time know, but can't wait to sit down later and read this one.
  25. Were getting close to the 2011 models coming out, has anyone head anything yet?
