  1. I GOT IT!! The wires are for the trailer harness! I tracked backwards from the trailer harness and wouldn't you know it runs up the inside of the fender in to the tail light housing. Thanks Rick
  2. There is a hitch and a harness at the hitch. To this point I've not tracked back the harness to see where it's wired. Guess I never thought about it til now.
  3. Guess I missed the party. Still have 4 1/2 more hours of work to go.
  4. YES!! Everything works, without these two wires pluged in. But they do appear to by factory. There is no six pin connector back there, just a bunch of male and female connectors.
  5. :starz::starz: Are you talking about the headlight? If so both high and low beam still work along with the front running lights.
  6. I was just going to post the same question for my 2002 RSV.
  7. Well I've always been a person that likes the clean look on my bikes and I like to keep it simple. So I removed a tail light bar and back off module that the PO put on. There were a lot of wires and relays to remove. Now once I was finished I found two wires that I'm not sure where that go. They are at the tail light area and come out of the OEM harness. One is blue and the other yellow and both have male leads. Now every thing back there work. Tail light, brake light, turns, and hazards. I'm stumped.
  8. Happy B-day. Something tells me you got a very nice used corbin backrest for your birthday.
  9. Well with a little guidance from Art I managed to sync my carbs today. Here's my results. 1) No more popping at idle or at deceleration. 2) Less gas fumes at idle. 3) Much, Much smoother accelerating and at highway speed. Before it had a vibration through the bars and the seat. I can't say it's any quicker, maybe just alittle. All and all the carb gauges are right up there as one of the best tools I've ever brought and I was amazed how easy it was once I learned how to use the gauges.

    Carb sync help!

That was it Art!!! I had thes little "T" type connectors and did not no what they were for. Well now I know there are "restrictors" Thanks a million ART:dancefool:. Oh by the way all four were way out of sync. Getting ready to go for a ride with them sycn'ed. I hope the popping is gone.
  11. Well I'm in the process of checking the sync of my carbs. I have vacume dial type gauges. 1) First I got her warmed up good to the point the fans kicks on 2) next I removed the rubbers tips from the intake. 3) hooked up the hoses from the gauges to the intakes. Here's where I'm lost. The needle on the gauges will not settle they flop back and forth like a hummimg bird in flight. What should I do of look for!!
  12. Who on the forum sell that light bar?
  13. I had an 05 RSV that I cut the shield down from the bottom. The problem with that is as you get closer to the top it gets more narrow. This caused a gap on eash side where the shield bolts to the fairing allowing water to get in.

    Help!

This happened to me only gas shot out the exhaust pipe. Ran some seafoam and now I shut off the pitcock every time I park it.
  15. Thanks for the offer, but I still have a clearview I can put on.
  16. Well I decided to cut my OEM windshield down to 10" so that I could see over instead of having to look thru it. I followed the direction on the forum. I taped (yellow masking tape)both side to make sure I did not scratch it, as it WAS in perfect shape. Got out the jig saw, a metal cutting blade and some sand paper. The cut went perfect. Got her sand smooth and all looked good. At this point I'm feeling really proud of the job I did. Now it was time to remove the tape. Things went down hill from here. As I removed the tape part of the clear coating in the windshield peeled of with the tape. . So I now have a shield I can see over, but I can't stand looking at the damage I did.
  17. I've got a set of vacume gauges ordered to sync the carbs on my RSV. All the help threats say to set the idle at 1000rpm. How is this done without a tach?
  18. :bowdown::bowdown:
  19. I just had my fairing off and there were no fairing dampeners! Mine's an 02. Did the 02's have them? I'm guessing they did and the PO did not put them back after installing risers.
  20. Well it's back together. Lot of good ideas here of things to do. This time I adjusted the steering head, moved to forks up 1" and installed my garage door opener. I was too excited to see how it would handle with the front end lowered so I put her back toghter and went for a spin. WOW what a difference. I know other have said it " It feels like a different bike" and it does. Low speed handeling is a lot easier and tighter. Can U turn the beast now on a two lane road!! Easier to push backwards too. When I took her out I was concerned about the possibilty of a high spped wobble. I went up to 100 mph:D and no problems. Now once It gets to cold to ride I'll go back in and do all the other stuff.
  21. Chech out the light bar I've got in the classifieds. This will give you all the light in the rear you could ask for.
  22. Got to lookin around and noticed the PO never wired the trailer plug. He installed a hitch and wire harness. I thought it was wired but I got to looking and noticed he just ran the wires into the fairing. I don't see me ever pulling a trailer so I thing I'll pull the harness.
  23. Good idea!!!!!!!! This means I could use an Ipod and not have the tape door open, right? How should the extension be mounted?
  24. Well I've got the fairng loose. I'm going to adjust the steering bearing, move the forks up. It's such a big job (to me anyhow) I think I'll change over to polk 401's on the speakers while it's open. Is there anything else I should do while it's open? I'm thinking I"ll do away with the bar extenstion. I hate the way it's hits the key guard.
  25. OK. I got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a little liquid courage in me:smile5:. With dremel in hand I was able to grind the bolt head down with a chain saw sharpening bit. Not damage. I got off the outer shell and the light bar!!!!!!! Done for now.
