All this talk of a tank bag has me thinking I should get one myself. Riding two up for a weekend trip, sometimes I need just a little more space... not enough to bring the trailer, but more than the 3 storage compartments can hold and with a butt on the back seat I can't put anything there.

First -expensive- choice: Gerbings heated gloves. Second -inexpensive- choice: A disposable hand warmer in each non-electric glove. They even make foot warmer insoles, though I haven't tried them yet... my boots are warm enough as is... maybe for my passenger (but she usually stays off the cycle if it's too cold).

Velcro'd to the inside of the trunk lid. Keep it right on center so that it doesn't interfere with locking up two helmets inside the trunk. It is out of sight, locked up, always ready and reads just fine through the trunk lid.

Just wanted to share a very positive experience I recently had with DOWCO, Inc. For over five years I've been using the Guardian EZ-Zip Motorcycle Cover to cover my RSV when we spend nights away from the garage. Well, a couple of weeks ago the zipper on the storage bag broke apart at the seam. I know that the cover has a lifetime warranty, but didn't think it would cover the bag. I went on their website to purchase a new storage bag, but did not see it for sale as a separate item. Using their contact form, I asked how I could purchase a replacement storage bag.... their reply: A free replacement is on it's way via US Mail. Three days later I had the new bag. The cover is high quality and has done a great job through years of service and looks none worse for the wear. The zippered rear really makes covering and uncovering the RSV an easy task. If I'm ever in the market for a new cover (unlikely, given the lifetime warranty) I would definitely check out DOWCO, Inc. INSURANCE for GPS, XM radio and GoPro Camera not included

This was back in June 2008, but at the time I had Progressive Insurance on the RSV. Got rear-ended at a stop light and my XM antenna for the Garmin Zumo 550 was damaged in the spill -- scrapes, purely cosmetic. When I got the bike back from the shop the XM antenna was replaced. The Zumo was not damaged and I took it home with me, so the shop never saw it. It was one of Progressive's "pre-approved" shops so I did nothing more than fax over my insurance and registration cards then picked up the bike a few weeks later all fixed. -

Looks good. One of the guys with whom I frequently ride has similar lights on his HD and they do stand out in the rearview mirrors. Do you remember the price of the lights?

I use Pledge on my helmet after every day of riding. In the colder months when I use a full-face helemt, I even Pledge the faceshield.

Had some battery-powered electric socks a few years back. One 9 volt battery for each sock. The heating element got so hot I had to disconnect the battery after about 15 minutes of use. They worked pretty well for long days standing around Beaver Staduim in the cold. That being said, my Gerbings heated gloves with adjustable controller are much better. Let us know how the battery gloves work out. Good luck!

I have about 15,000 miles on a SilverStar bulb on my Suzuki Volusia (predecessor to the current Boulevard) and just about 4,000 on a SilverStar in my RSV... no trouble with either. The light is much whiter and puts out more candlepower, too. More light = safer ride.

Thanks, Ben. I just got off the phone with Roy. The hitch is en route since last week. It looks like all is it will be here within the next day or so. Apparently, Roy just doesn't get online frequently so in this age of immediate response via the Internet we (ie my sister) need to be more patient. I'm looking forward to my new VentureDad hitch!

Did you get in touch via email or phone? My sister ordered/paid for a hitch for me (for my xmas gift) back on Dec 7th and hasn't heard anything since then. She has cc'd me on several emails that have gone unanswered. I'm not particularly worried since my riding season is pretty much over until Spring, but my sister is concerned that she won't have anything to hand to me on xmas day.

As long as the work schedule doesn't get in the way, count me & Laura in again. We actually made a long weekend trip out of it (Thursday thru Sunday) and had a great time each day.

I have the Dowco Guardian EZ-Zip cover. The rear section is split down the middle with a zipper, making it very easy to get on and off. I have had it out in heavy rain and the seal on the zipper is pretty good... only a few drops of water got through the zipper after several hours of torrential rain. Those pics looks good. I got the wind deflectors from BuddyRich and they're sitting on my workbench waiting to be installed. It's good to continually read positive reviews. I'm looking forward to warmer knees as the weather gets colder.
