  1. Take a look at this thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13400 It is a how-to with pictures from when I did mine.
  2. My calendar is blocked out for April 18th. I'll be watching this thread for details.
  3. But some banks/financial institutions count motorcycles as "recreational equipment" or other "non-vehicle." I know that the law in PA allows for anything with fewer than 4 wheels to be classified as a "non-vehicle" thus advertised rates for vehicles (everything from loans to insurance) do not necessarily apply to our two-wheeled "non-vehicles." And Gregroy: Best of Luck with the new RSV!
  4. I have Saddlemen's BR4100 Back Seat Dresser Bag. It's a perfect fit for the back seat, even with the driver's backrest. It has insulated pockets perfect for water bottles, snacks, etc. It holds its shape even when empty and has been a great bag. I got it on sale at a local store for about a hundred dollars two years ago. Here's the manufacture's website, with MSRP of $139.95: http://www.saddlemen.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7086 I've been extremely satisfied with several Saddlemen products over the years: high quality products, fairly-priced and made in the U.S.A.
  5. I have the Saddlemen Stallion bag. It's made of heavy waterproof treated nylon. It has a nice attachment system built in (D rings along the bottom edges), a bungee-web for quickly stowing a jacket or sweatshirt, and a decent amount of storage. I've had it along for 3,000-mile trips and have not Brend disappointed. Every Saddlemen product I've ever had has been top-notch.
  6. +1 for Opera Mini for BlackBerry -- the VR site works just fine for both reading and posting. You can do an OTA install on your BB by going to http://mini.opera.com using your BB default Web browser. Best of all: it's free!
  7. Using the search feature here you will find more than the basic instructions, but tips & tricks from people who have learned (sometimes the hard way) what to & not to do with almost any accessory you can imagine. Take a look throug the tech articles, too - lots of good stuff there. Plus, if you can't find instructions for something specific or if you hit a snag along the way just post. Before you know it people will be offering advice, photos, phone numbers and assistance if you're close enough. Go ahead and do it yourself. The best part around here is that you're never alone when doing it "yourself"!!
  8. Does the Venture's automated turn signal cancellation still work with the No Load Signal Stabilizer installed?
  9. I think you meant www.coveralls.biz I was checking out their site as I, too, would like to use a vendor who supports VR.org.
  10. Great write-up. I have the conversion kit in my garage for a winter project. This article sure will help.
  11. Another vote.... fingers crossed!
  12. I can't speak for George, but I used automotive door trim around the edge of the gas tank and on the fenders on my Suzuki Volusia. It's a flexible plastic U-channel with adhesive in the channel. Seeing his picture, I think I'll be adding it to my Black Cherry RSV. I bought it at Pep Boys: 12' for about $10. It's best to install it on a warm day - even using a hair dryer to get it flexible around tight corners & bends.
  13. I have the HDCH-990 windshield bag. Got mine from J&M here. It fits great with no modifications. The tail just clamps in along with the windshield. I have over 6,000 miles with mine and have not experienced any problems. Also, the Kuryakyn Shift Peg covers are Part # 8851. See this thread for a discussion about removal of the OEM rubber and mounting the Kury peg covers. Along with the matching Kury Brake Pedal cover it really spruces up the foot area.
  14. Pledge does not contain any wax. It's the silicones that keep the bugs from sticking (any avoids any waxy build-up which can give chrome a yellowish tint). I'm a big fan - been using it for years on several motorcycles. There's a can in my sidebag with some microfiber towels at all times.
  15. I got one from J&P Cycles. Here's their full list of Balaclavas. I have the Schampa WarmSkin: lightweight, warm & only $14.99.
  16. You might want to take a look at the Interphone Bluetooth Helmet Kit from BlueAnt. http://www.myblueant.com/interphone-...helmet-kit.htm It's a fully-funtcional helmet-mounted BT headset. You can pair it directly to your BT-enabled phone. If you get two, you can directly pair the two Interphone headsets to serve as rider-to-passenger or even bike-to-bike intercom (though the BT range isn't very far). I used this setup for quite some time before getting my RSV. It's a quality product; small and easy to mount in any helmet.
  17. I, too, have the Baron's riser extensions installed on my '06 RSV... no problems with any cables. I guess it depends on who at the factory tightened down the tie-downs, as others have had to reroute. Good luck.
  18. Ditto on the cordless phones.... two choices: (1) Set the channel of your wireless router to either 1 or 11 (either end of the available choices), as they are farthest away from the channel that cordless phones use (identical to channel 6 on your router, which is also the likely default channel). -or- (2) Get a 6.0 DECT cordless phone. The frequency is significantly different from that of the wireless router and should not interfere. This solution assumes that it's your cordless phone causing the problem. If you're in an apartment building, you might be limited to the first option. Good luck!
  19. I repaired the same part on my '06 RSV using J-B Weld to re-attach the screw mounting tab back onto the inside of the lower cowl. In complete violation of "the rules" I did not take any photos. J-B Weld is a two-part epoxy/hardener that you mix then apply. Worked out great for me. The big bonus for my repair is that it was all internal, thus sanding & painting was not needed. Here's the link for the J-B Weld: http://www.jbweld.net/products/jbweld.php Best of luck with your repair!
  20. Congrats to the Brewers for ending their playoff drought, but... http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/phillysportsstuff/homeGoPhillies.gif ...gotta support the home team!
  21. Looks realy good, Larry. I might just have another item for my winter "To Do" list.
  22. Laura & I would like to join in.... I'll have to keep an eye on my travel schedule, as I might be out of state that weekend.
  23. Take a look at this article in the tech section about splitting the fairing. Though you don't have then need to split the fairing, windshield removal is part of it. There are directions with photos. You'll be able to see the tabs and get an idea of how it's all held together before you begin to pull yours apart.... a picture is worth a thousand words. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=494
  24. Done that... I must be full-on nutz!!!!
  25. I'm sure others have more (& better) photos, but here are a couple I took on Saturday....
