  1. I just got a notice that VW is accepting job applications now thru Nov 8 online only. Go to www.jobs.chattanooga.com. Good luck!
  2. Glad she wasn't seriously hurt! My wife is learning to ride. 10 yrs ago she threatened to divorce me when I started talking about getting a bike. She thought I wanted to use it to spend time away from her. I really wanted it so we could do it together but there was no talking to her so I dropped the subject. 4 years ago she was diagnosed with a rare stomach cancer and had 2/3 of her stomach removed. This was her second cancer. She had also been in a horrific accident in '96. She survived only by a miracle but suffered a lot of injuries. 28 fractures, head trauma etc. After the stomach cancer we came to the conclusion that life is to short to be afraid to do things. We didn't even talk about it really we just came to the same conclusion at the same time. Folks who have been together a long time will understand that.We have been married 33yrs. She was 18 and I was 19. We bought a '97 Royal Star Tour Classic for our 30th anniversay. I took the MSF course and rode for a while before I put her on the back. She loved it and even got back on without hesitation after a couple of close calls. After a year I found a great deal on an 07 RSV so now we had 2 bikes. I never in my wildest dreams thought she would want to ride her own but after another year I found out she had the bug. We got her a Honda Rebel to learn on. Her goal is to move up to the RSTC. She is learning pretty well but she's still needs work on stopping, starting and taking turns from a stop. She is thinking about meeting some girlfriends who ride for lunch today. This would be the first time she rode alone without me. It's a big step so keep your fingers crossed! http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b152/bigjack1/Sheryl/IMG_0372.jpg
  3. It will only get worse since I-40 will be closed for about 3 mos! At least it's about the end of riding season up there.
  4. I'd watch that 404 like a hawk. They go from ok to cord showing in a heart beat!
  5. Ride free with the Angels Ronald! Condolences to the family.
  6. They must have followed the instructions in the factory manual, they're wrong!
  7. Welcome back! BTW how do you ride "in" a Venture?:TEAL:
  8. You are standing the bike level when you check the sight glass, correct?
  9. Wow. We were just up there last month for the Rolling Thru Vermont rally. Had lunch at Stowe one day. The leaves were just starting to change.
  10. If you can find a heel/toe shifter from a venture, they are wider. There is a good bit of play in the shifter. As long as the bolt is tight your ok. The bolts are known to loosen and fall out though so you should check periodically. You can also adjust the shifter up and down some.
  11. Prayers for the families.
  12. We might make it over there. I haven't been on a bike since the monsoon started.
  13. I can think of no possible reason why the tank should be getting that hot. Maybe try removing the tank and unpluging the connection for the gas gauge. The fan should not come on unless your sitting still in 100 degree weather for a few minutes.
  14. Good luck, our prayers are with you!
  15. I would check the rear brake caliper and pads. They may be sticking and the clank is the sound of them releasing when you take off.
  16. It's been so wet here I looked at my workboots I keep in the garage and they were mildewed! I had to wash them with bleach solution.
  17. How far north do you want to go? I've had pretty good luck with Blue Ridge Yamaha in Blue Ridge Ga. One good thing about them, Yamaha is all they sell. Not a "multiline dealer"
  18. You'll be near some great riding in Ga. Give a holler if you want to meet up.
  19. Prayers sent!
  20. If you want to see which direction Yamaha is moving in, check out the 2010 Stratoliner Deluxe. I wouldn't be suprised to see the Venture go away and see the Strat sprout a trunk, lowers and Cb/Intercom and have Yammie call it good.
  21. I get it too if I'm not real smooth rolling back on after taking a turn.
  22. It's a good idea to put some anti-sieze compound on the spark plug threads before installing them.
  23. Congrats on the new bike! May you get many miles of enjoyment ouy of it! Here is an interesting site regarding motorcycle break in procedure. It goes against the old conventional wisdom but does make some sense. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
  24. Who was it that dropped the wing at Vogel on Friday?
  25. Do you believe in Magic?
