  1. God Bless you Gary. Even though we have never met we haven't forgotten you and Leslie.
  2. Sorry for your trouble but if that's the worst that happens you've had a good day!
  3. This has been a very interesting thread with many thoughtful responses. My wife and I have been married for 33 1/2 yrs. Since she was 18 and I was 19. I had always wanted a bike but other proirities got in the way. I did have a 250 enduro back in the early '80s for a while but didn't have it for long and I don't even remember what happened to it. My wife has aquired a host of health problems over the years. She has been an insulin dependent diabetic since '81. In 1996 she was struck by a semi as she was rendering medical assistance at an accident scene. She was (is) an RN. She survived only by a miracle but suffered many painful injuries and is in pain to this day. Without oxycontin she wouldn't be able to get out of bed. About 10 years ago I started talking about getting a bike. I figured it would be something we could do together. She said "no way" and thought I really wanted something that I could do to get away from her. 5 years ago she was diagnosed witha type of stomach cancer and had 2/3 of her stomach removed. After a long ordeal she came through that ok. We both came to the same conclusion at the same time without even talking about it (people who've been married a long time will understand that) that life can be over at any time so you better get out there and live while you have the chance. Tip toeing thru life hoping nothing bad will happen is not living. We started looking for a bike and ended up getting a 97 Royal Star tour Classic for our 30th anniversary. A little while later I found a geat deal on a Venture and got it for more long distance comfort. We have had more fun and good times in the last 3 years than we had in the previous 30. We're both adults and understand the risks. We trust that God will take care of us no matter what occurs just as he has our whole lives. There is more to the story and we are adding to it each day. We had a great day yesterday meeting up with some of our VR friends. Then we took off by ourselves and rode some of the best roads in N Ga and WNC on a beautiful day. No matter what happens we will always have the memories of that day and many before it and God willing many more to come. God bless and ride safe!
  4. Sheryl and I will try to be there.:thumbsup2:

  6. If Yammie did come out with a NEW 2011 Venture, their timing would be great. Honda has told their dealers there will be no 2011 Goldwing. The factory and tooling was moved from Marysville Ohio to Japan. Dealers still have 2008-10 bikes on the showroom floor. It's unknown if the 2012 will be a brand new design but the rumors are flying. I have a feeling when the Venture goes away it will be replaced by a Stratoliner deluxe with a trunk, more electronics and hopefully ABS.
  7. If your looking for ss lines, Buckeye performance is a good source and they can make them any length you want. I need to put some on my '97.
  8. Yeah, ain't it great? I just had a Avon Cobra put on the front of my wing last Tuesday. $175 + $15 for mounting+tax= $200.98:mo money: I would have waited had I known.

  14. So what type of bike did Wingman get? It is Wingman right?
  15. I think maybe the original poster was thinking "what is a person doing collecting disability if they can ride a motorcycle, they should be able to work". I guess he just doesn't realize that riding a couple of hours and working an 8 hr day, day in day out are two different things.
  16. Nice bike! Welcome to the forum. You are off to a good start by following Rule #1. Posting pics!

  18. Doc Baileys Leather Black is the best thing I've ever used. http://www.foxcreekleather.com/761.html
  19. I agree. My wife is 100% disabled. That means she cannot work a regular job, day in and day out. It doesn't mean she can't get out for an occaisonal ride on her scoot. Not every bike is as hard to handle as an RSV. On a Goldwing forum I participate in there is a man who straps a wheel chair to the back of his wing. Should he not be riding?
  20. My wife and I were at Deals Gap yesterday. We rode in on 28 from the NC side. 129 is shut down at the TN state line. They stopped letting traffic through in TN due to a dangerous overhanging rock. They baricaded 129 at the TN line which is only about 1 mile north (west) of Deals Gap. The excuse given by TN is they are unable to provide emergency services to the TN section. Graham county NC offered to provide ambulance and fire service which would allow people to ride to the overlook and back but TN refused. They are saying the road may be shut down till summer. That is the story from the girl at Deals Gap motorcycle resort anyway. There is the feeling there that TN is trying to put them out of business given the way TN law enforcement has been acting the last couple of years.
  21. No it's not a joke. You should be able to find updates here. http://www.tailofthedragon.com/
