Needing a final drive - 88 VR
sarges46 replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks kind sir! Both of mine whinned a little, new83 and used 89. But never enough to cause me concern. Yours must be a noisy bugger. Hope you find one....did you try poledar? -
Vents fits in the lower cowling. At least it has the shape of the outer edge of it. It clamps on the top part of the lower crash bar. Heres some pics from another members post. http://venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=19188&d=1214686746

Needing a final drive - 88 VR

I dont mean to be a smart butt....but I ask this cause I am mechanically challenged! How does one know if the final drive is gone to the point that one has to replace it? Other than the question I can offer no help where to get one, unless poledar still has this part from his part bike he was unloading. -
Man!! Thats a weird way to have an accident! Lucky man not be get yourself pinned or something.....seems we gotta watch ourselves even when parked now!

Yamaha sportcenter out of either Texas or Seattle. So far they have been great for my needs here in cold land.

looking for online shop manual - 08 RSV
sarges46 replied to papa smurf's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I am glad it worked out...it takes a careful measure of cool ones to help with the work...too many though and you might as well start a fire and forget working and just enjoy the fire while sipping the drinks! For me that would be around three then I have to go lay down somewhere! -
Ignition Fuse Keeps Blowing
sarges46 replied to 5bikes's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Bare wire somewhere around the switch...probably touches metal...doesnt take much of a hole in the wire casing to cause troubles. I found this out with my driving lights in Kitchener last month. Just a pin hole and it set off all kinds of neat things with all my lights. I am guessing around the switch...mostly as an easier starting spot to check out. I'm sure someone will have other ideas of were to look as well.- 4 replies

Yes, I think so! I joined and booked as a venturerider. If they work out real good I may change my set jm set to theirs later on. But right now I have no real complaints with my headsets other than no real bass to speak of.

Try here Papa smurf http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1828 Its in the tech library. -
I just have to put a big plug for Ed and his company. He has been patiently working with me over the last week as I go through ordering a couple of headsets etc to work with the new J+M CB/Intercom I got for Marilyn's vstar. The man is a godsend and one that other businesses should model themselves after (I know some have). I cant wait for his product to arrive so we can continue our adventure as this (me) dummy tries to install everything!

Heel - Toe shifter has to go!
sarges46 replied to Owen's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
A single shifter is a yamaha accessorie you can purchase for the RSV/RSTD. Try yamahasportcenter in Seattle or Texas....they are the cheapest (usually) for yamaha stuff. Here's a link. http://www.yamahasportscenter.com/eshopprod_cat_3790-6666-4199_product_459222.BILLET_SINGLE_ARM_SHIFT_LEVERS.htm- 60 replies

Hey now! I resemble that remark! Right...aftermarket boards. She is not tall enough for the expensive forward controls and they wouldnt fit with the crash bars she has anyway. I truly thought I could just buy a shifter and put it on....so much for me thinking....never mind Owl!

Sure is a bad design! And I do agree with the cost...but sometimes the cost is worth it to avoid the aggravation of it all. I should have got it two years ago when the things could be got for well under 200 bucks... And yep it came with pegs. I have since added passenger and driver floor boards and she is wanting a heel/toe. I thought there may be an aftermarket item out there somewhere....but no joy yet. Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone know where I can get a heal/toe shifter for Marilyn's 1100 custom vstar? It's an 02....I have checked everywhere and cant find one! Oh,ya...and if anyone is parting or selling a vstar that has the oil relocation kit and wants to sell that item let me know! New ones are getting pretty steep!

Voted for 5 in the poll.....money sent today! Been camping so I almost missed this! Thanks again Don!

You going to do fine ordering from Seattle or the sportcenter in Texas. Both are fine dealers to get stuff from. And their prices cant be beat by any Canadian dealer. I know, I dont by Canadian parts anymore unless it was an emergency. Hope that ankle heals up fast...

Late getting this news...away camping with the kids. Sorry to hear of your fall Boomer. Our thoughts for a speedy recovery and we are glad it wasnt worse.

My buddy here just got his Ram mount. He bought the mirror mount one and has his attached to the bolts that hold the handle bar radio controller or master cylinder. RAM makes a great product...yes it may cost around 40 bucks or so...but it sure works. His is the exact same gps by the way. My mount is the handle bar one...never moved all the to Kitchener and back. Get the three inch. Got ours from an ebay store.

Well...now...thats a sharp piece of kit! Good for Harley leading the way in this regard. It makes sense to do this really.....a trike designed to be a trike. I like it.....too expensive for me but I gotta admit to liking it.
