Some where out there on 81 in VA is a rear trunk reflector / lghit cover off of my baby. Ill post up a pic of what I kneed later. Its the plastic piece that sits between the turn signal covers on the trunk .My bike is a 91 Vr. If anyone has one of these extra they want to sell please let me know. Thanks in advance. Just curious ... What is the biggest load anyone has put IN and ON their trunk (luggage rack). I am leaving tomorrow for a long trip (1 week to the Grand Canyon). I can put my ROLL BAG on the passenger seat (I'm riding solo), but the trunk is full too...Will I be OK. I am thinking maybe the roll bag is about 20 lbs and the trunk another 25-30lbs. Any experiences? Wally

Well picked up my new ride today in Plymouth In. 2008 RSTD new out of the crate from www.Turn1.com Rode it home 226 miles Smooth and no whine must of got a good one will see. Now time to find a trunk for it so GF can ride and be safe. This thing seems to not be as top heavy as the RSV don't know but sure felt good. Check out the Pic's. Star4772

I'm trying to install a trunk on my 07 RSTD and was hoping someone had some mounting hardware laying about. If not, any ideas on how I can mount it? I BOUGHT THE TRUNK OF EBAY AND IT'S A UNIVERSAL MOUNT TRUNK. THANKS

:fireman:I am looking to replace the travel trunk and possible the saddle bags on my '02 midnight venture.The bottom of the trunk is cracked around the bolt holes,I can't afford to buy the new oem trunk,does anyone know anything about A-1 motorcycled hard bags? they look pretty nice and are alot more affordable.

I'm looking for a couple of those trunk latches used on a Harley trunk. Need both the latches and the hooks. Figured they'd be great for my trailer. Anyone got some? Could maybe even use the 1st gen (86-93) Yammi ones but the Harley ones are more compact in design. If I recall correctly, the Yammi ones there is one that is offset a bit so don't think that will work.

I fixed the cracks in my trunk lid (I hope) and was reconnecting the wiring for the vanity mirror and the tail light when I noticed that there was a crimp in one of the wires where it was pinched by the lid. This has happened before on my bike. Anyone have a good way to protect this wiring and give it the flexibility it needs to open and close the lid? Iowa Guy

My trunk lid (where the passenger backrest attaches to the lid) has significant cracking around all of the mounting bolts. The cracks have now progressed to the point where they are visible from the outside of the trunk lid. The cracks are in excess of 2"...so I don't believe a "repair" is an option. Probably will have to replace the lid to maintain the integrity and safety of the backrest. Should this be covered under warranty? If it IS repaired under warranty, any ideas on how I can prevent this in the future?

I would like to mount yellow LED "trunk side lights" to my trunk as additional turn signals. As shown in the following picture on one of the Texas folks bike. My question is how did you get the wire between the arm rest and trunk. I have never taken either off. Since It looks like I'm not going to be riding for most of the summer due to injury (broke my tail bone) and can't sit down I may as well farkel the bike. Thanks ps. To Ponch. Where did you purchase the LED replacement bulbs for your bike? I have spent over $50 on LED bulbs at Autozone/NAPA and am very disappointed in them. They are no brighter than stock incandescent bulbs. Except for passing lights and headlight I plan to replace every light (even dash) with LEDS. Well I went and took the new 08 RSTD. Couple of questions I would like to put on some kind of trunk and a better passanger riding seat any ideas? I hope to pick it up this weekend. For the cost diff. of 5500 verses thr RSV and how much riding I will be doing in the next few years I thought this was the way to go for now. Same bike as the RSV except for the trunk, fairing, cb and stereo. I can always customize it with extras yes? Will take any suggestions my fellow members have. Thanks Joe

I saw a picture somewhere of how someone had reinforced their trunk to prevent it breaking... but I can not for the life of me find that picture again. My cycle did not come with a trunk so I bought one off ebay and had to buy the mounting rack also, because they had cut off the bolts on it. Would it be enough to just use big washers in mounting it?

The lock on my aftermarket trunk broke again (2nd time) and after paying 35 bucks for the replacement I refuse to buy another POS. Does anybody have a trunk thats toast but the locks still good with key they care to sell? I'm hoping I can improvise it to cover the bolt lock hole and connect with lower section. Any help would be appreciated. God Bless Mike

Just installed my Trunk Organizer today. Very easy install and actually a pretty nice little luxury to have in the trunk there. Actually, it takes up little space and fits the contours of the trunk pretty well (by using velcro). I was very pleased with this addition and it will keeps LOTS of neat little things at my fingertips. ok im looking for a way to stop them from leaking? they seem to close nice and tight? but after a rain or a simple wash job the top trunk gets about an inch of water in it? it runs to the far side while on side stand.\\ the right sadle bag does about the same/ i looked at the latches and see there pop riveted? i saw on ebay someone was selling a upper trunk repair kit? latches small screws straps ect ect. just need to figure out how to remove the rivets if thats the case or if there is just some kind of adjustment and gasket that can be used.

Is there a difference between the 85/86, and 87 trunk? I found a light bar for the 85/86, but was told it would not fit the 87. Anyone know the difference?

Several years ago my neighbor had a gold wing with a folding mirror for his wife that hinged down from the open trunk lid. I seem to remember it being a flexible piece of highly polished plastic as to not break. It had a snap fastener that held it in the "up" position when loading/unloading the trunk. He had removable bag inserts and the mirror must have molded to the shape of the bag because it never broke. Has anyone seen something like this before? My wife would love a mirror after a ride. It's that hair thing....... Thanks, Rob

I was messing around in the trunk today and noticed that on both sides of the trunk is a "channel" and there's also a drain on the left side. Then I noticed that the trunk doesn't have a rubber seal? So is the trunk pretty much waterproof or does it leak a lot? Thanks, Wally

I removed the trunk from my '09 RSV and reinstalled the CB under the luggage rack. I can hear my radio and my cb through the speakers but can't hear anything through my headset. Everything is hooked up as before except for the 2 plugs that plug into the trunk. Does the trunk have to be installed in order for the headset to work when plugged into the tank plug? Or is there possibly something wrong with the wiring somewhere up front? Thanks in advance.........

Nice weather in Wisconsin and I have put about 200 miles on my TD already. I have accumulated a few chrome parts ans have been having fun working in the garage getting ready for the "real" spring here. Which brings me to a dilema. I bought a detachable sissy bar and want to mount a trunk to it. I have seen Al's mount on the web page but I know I have seen other ones(mounts)also and can't find them now. Soooo.. if anyone has pictures or sells alternative mounts please post for all of us. Thanks alot and lets hope the nice weather continues. Reno

I sometime get tired of how quickly the trunk becomes a mess on a trip. Last year at the Roundup in Cody, Iowawegian (Gary and Deb) had some pouches in the trunk that allowed them to keep things where they could get them easily. I liked that!! I've been looking online for something that would go in my '86, with no luck. So, last night I decided to do something..... I took a piece of Lexan I had in the garage and cut two pieces to fit the width, height and curvature of the trunk bottom. I used adding machine tape rolls as spacers and with four bolts to hold it together. A little stick on velcro to hold it in place to the rear of the trunk but still allow it to be removed. (I was going to install only the rolls as spacers but Jan reminded me of how often we or someone asks if someone has a piece of paper and pen, so I left it on to use up on the road) This isn't everything I would want but in the mean time it creates two pockets in the back corners and three more between the plastic to help hold things in place and there is still room for my helmet inside. http://s470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/86%20Venture%20Rt%20Faring/?action=view¤t=IMG_0684.jpghttp://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/86%20Venture%20Rt%20Faring/IMG_0684.jpg Dave

O.K. guys. I know a whole lot about the mechanicals of my 88 VR, but not much about the body, plastic, chrome, etc. Can all years of the 1st gens use the same trunk luggage rack? What I'm asking is if the 1200 and 1300 VRs had the same size and shape tail trunks? O.K. Is there anywhere to buy a new, good quality (maybe even N.O.S.) trunk rack for a VR these days? Thanks.
