  1. With the fine spring weather we have had here this week, I have forced myself to get on the other two-wheeler that I own and I have been neglecting for far too long. I did 62 km on Tuesday (40 miles or so for you non-metric folk) and another 50 km (30 miles) today. It's much, much lighter than the Venture but at the opposite end of the spectrum as far as comfort goes. It loves going downhill, but the motor seems to falter a little on the steeper climbs. It's almost like it is out of gas... I am hoping more riding will straighten that out on its own. Note the drink holders (1 in front, 2 on the back of the seat post), spare tube, folding spare tire, and CO2 inflation system if I get a blowout (and they do happen, 90% of the time in races). With all the quick-change stuff, I can fix a flat and be moving again in under 10 minutes, whereas the pros can be done in 3). I am hoping this doesn't cut into my other riding time too much, but I want to get back into racing this year. I do wonder what the heck I am doing when I see all kinds of nice motorcycles cruising by me as I huff and puff my way through the backroads. PS: If you do come up on a cyclist, please give'em a wide berth... cracks in the pavement are bad enough for motorcycles, but they can flip you over the handlebars without warning on a roadbike. Cheers !
  2. stopped to fill up and after that I had neither speedo nor odometer. No funky noises implying impending doom, it just quit. The connector on the wheel was not tight but that didn't help, and the cable housing is not falling down. Now I thought the odo was electronic, so what might have happened to crash both? Panel light are still working. If someone has a spare or a spare cable and is going to the Ga MD let me know. In case you didn't see it in my sign on, it's a '83 royale. Thanks.
  3. My unit (if I can find the d*&m thing)flashes once or twice then it died the funky chicken. Yamaha wants $119.25 for it and their fish is crappy on the location. My ? is there an aftermarket replacement of would some kind soul have a spare to part with..Thank Mike R.. 1983 Venture. PS thanks to all in regards to the Regulator problem. I found one and it's in the post..
  4. Anyone have a spare ,2001 Yamaha Royal Star Venture Brochure on Hand To sell
  5. I know that the factory toque's the ignition bolts down and brakes them off at the factory if my thinking is correct. So my Question is how are some of you removing them. The only reason I want to do this and remove them and place a regaler bolts on there place is I have a spare and if one day I was stranded I could just replace it on the road and be on my way. any idea's or tricks that you folks have done to remove them? Is it a hard job? I guess worse case is I could pull tank back a bit and un-plug bad iggy and plug now on in leave it lay there .. under the tank. all I am doing is thinking ahead a little for long road trips. even have my spare fuel pump as well. Thanks! Jeff
  6. I just ran into these ebay items in Florida and they should go pretty cheap, as they're pick-up only. If it were local I'd pick the stuff up for spare plastic...just because. 320437690094, 320437687937
  7. Pristine looking bike, high bid right now only 1200.00.........Wish I had some spare change hanging around.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Venture-Royale-motorcycle-XVZ1200DN-Touring_W0QQitemZ130335157418QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item1e5894acaa#v4-34
  8. Kevin (Leadwolf56) just called me from Gatlinburg and he has a broken windshield on his 2nd gen. Do we have any members in the area that may be able to help him out? Anyone in the area have a spare windshield or know of a dealer in the area that may have one? He doesn't have internet access while there. I have his phone number is 574-612-3837. Dennis
  9. Went to a locksmith Friday and had a spare key made. He gave me some info that I didn't find on here. If its already been posted, sorry. On your original key there is a number. He said to write it down on the registration and on a piece of paper in your wallet. He told me that any good locksmith can cut you a key using that number if you happen to lose your key and need one in a emergancy. I know that most of us carry a hidden key, but I thought this info was good to know. I guess you really do learn something everyday.
  10. Does anyone have the bushing that goes in between the saddle bag and the fender on a 2005 RSTD? It's chrome and about 1" long. A bolt goes through the rear end of saddlebag then the bushing then into the fender. Going to need it shortly so hopefully someone has a spare they want to sell. If I can't locate one on here anybody know they part # so I can order it? Thanks and God Bless. mike
  11. Seems like several of us are purchasing this trailer. I'll be picking up mine, tomorrow. Look forward to putting it together. Where and how are you mounting a spare tire on this trailer? I'd prefer to have a spare, in case the gremlins pop up. Any ideas or pics? Thanks, Pistol Pete
  12. Hey Guys. I have 47K on my 2000 RSV. Was wondering if anyone had a fuel pump fail and, at 9.5 years old, how long I could expect mine to last. I don't have any issues yet, but was thinking about picking up a lightly used pump from a newer, low mileage bike and stowing it (along with a spare coil and maybe ignition switch, Ha!) for some breakdown insurance when I take long trips. Any histories/war stories on nuisance/premature pump failures on 2nd Gens? Thanks.
  13. With only 22k miles my 84 needs a stator. Anyone got a good used one or where I can get the best price for new one. And yes it is fried. New battery, good connections thruout. When I did 2nd gear it was black on one side. I have a spare regulator-rectifier and it does the same, no charge. Just hoping then.... Thanks
  14. Anybody have this ,my fuel pump used to click when I turned on key. Now it doesnt or maybe clicks 1 or 2 times. Cleaned all connections battery is fully charged and bike starts instantly and runs PERFECT. I`m wondering if there is going to be a problem down the line?? no hesitation and will run all day at 70 -80 mph with power to spare. when bike is idling can feel pulses when I hold hand on pump. any input greatly appreciated JB. Just changed stator last week its putting out 14 volts at 3000 rpm. thanks to all that gave advice on that problem JB
  15. I placed an ad in the classifieds, the reason for the ad is I must sacrifice due to recent health issues. I love my ride and it needs a good home, all is on the up and up as several of you know that have been to my home. This scoot will be a great bike for one of you and loads of spare parts from an 86 VR go with it, it's a STRONG runner. Help my wife and I while helping yourself. 16. Due to scheduling problems, I have to ride my bike to the shop where the new tire is and they will mount it. I want to keep the old one, since I have a few thousand miles left, I reckon, and having a workable emergency spare will be handy. Has anyone carried a rear tire on their luggage rack? Note that I have a RSTD.
  17. Neighbor is looking to purchase a single pick-up coil for a 90-93 Venture or VMax. Both use the same coil. If someone is parting out or has a spare they want to sell, let me know. Part # 3UF-81670-00-00 Thanks, Dan
  18. Just wondering... Where are you all mounting your accessory jacks, or cig lighters? I was looking at the fariing, and not really much room at all to install them through it. I have found a few bar mount models, but DAMN do they think those are made out of gold.. Also, how much spare juice does an 08 Venture have? I know on my Roadstar I don't have much electrical to spare without upgrading the stator.. Will these bikes handle some spare lighting and a heated vest and gloves and such?
  19. Finally got the trike done - complete with factory Yamaha "spare tire".
  20. I lost the rear caliper cover, the plastic one that snaps into the top of the caliper. Does anyone have a spare they dont need anymore? Second gen......Thanks
  21. Mine went south and I do not have a spare. I would be willing to buy or trade for what you may need.
  22. Wow.... if only I had money to spare!! LINK
  23. I am looking to replace the stock handlebars on my 2000 RSV to get more pullback. I have the 1 1/2 inch risers on, but it's not enough. I was just on the Flanders handlebar web site where they have the dimensions listed for stock handlebars. It looks like the stock RSTD might work perfectly. Anyone have a spare set lying around they might be willing to sell me? Thanks.

    Speedo died

Is ther any fix known to repair the inner workings of the speedo. Mine gave up the ghost, it appears to be where the steel wheel runs on the inside of the bell housing that is attached to the needle. Or is there anyone who has a spare unit that works on an 83. Thanks for any help. Now that we are having some fantastic weather its a bit frustrating not knowing how fast one is going. Gordon
  25. Anyone have a spare eyebrow (think that's what they're called) for the rear blinker? Guess I backed the bike up into the garage wall and the little sucker later jettisoned itself somewhere.... Poor thing, looks like it's winking all the time now.
